“A Great Island Getaway!”

Reviewed 13 Feb 2015

Palmirage is a fabulous place to stay on Long Island. It is centrally located and you could not find a better person to rent from than Sara. To let you know how hospitable she is - we arrived on a Sunday when the markets are closed, so she arranged for her friend to open the grocery store for us in the early evening! I have never heard of that! The cottage is decked out with everything you might ever need and the beds and furnishings were very comfortable. Included in the stay were a kayak, snorkel equipment, beach chairs, beach towels, coolers, just to name a few... We stayed for 7 nights and it was the perfect amount of time to explore the island from north to south. Everyday was a new adventure discovering deserted beaches and fabulous sunsets. Sara will also set you up with great guides to help you explore - Presley was the greatest! I plan to go back as soon as I can! Margaret Watson Scottsdale, AZ

“Shangri La”

This is a beautiful spot. The cottage itself was very clean and lovely. The sheets were excellent, and the kitchen had every cooking utensil needed, along with heavy bottomed cookware (excellent for cooking that cracked corn for grits!) Sara and Dan are very knowledgeable, and generous with said knowledge. The beach is a short walk and is gorgeous, and quiet. No complaints whatsoever!

“Perfect week away”

The cottage at Palmirage is a wonderful retreat for your Long Island vacation. It is clean, well kept, and up to date. Sara and Dan are great hosts. They take pride in their home and their island. Sara's garden is a big plus to add herbs and fresh veggies to your island meal. Sunset Beach is beautiful, a very short walk or bike ride from the cottage. If it's windy one day, go to other side of the island to one of many equally spectacular beaches. The island food is delicious and the people friendly. Helpful hint is that the grocery stores get stocked on Wednesday and Thursday, so a Tuesday shopping day may be a bit sparse. We will be back. The only change I would make is to stay longer.

“This little cottage felt like home from Day 1 to Day 63!!”

Reviewed 11 Mar 2014

Sara and Dan Werra provided us great service for our entire stay. The cottage is well appointed with a complete kitchen setup, and we like to cook. Walks to "our" beach every day were icing on the cake for us. Beautiful tropical landscaping afforded privacy

Response from the owner Thank you! We are so happy you enjoyed the stay...and appreciated the kitchen set up. We like to cook too, and wanted the same good quality for our guests to enjoy!

“A terrific tropical cottage”

Reviewed 25 Jan 2014

We are at the end of the first month of a two month stay at Palmirqe. We could not be happier. There are lots of reasons why. Here are a few: - brief walk or bike ride to a practically deserted beach that must be more than a mile in length. - cottage is close to owners home, but sheltered and private because of luxuriant and well designed landscaping. Cottage secluded from road leading to beach. - the cottage itself provides the following, and more: - open design - full sized, high quality appliances - fully stocked with excellent dishes, pots and pans, bathroom towels, beach towels, on and on - excellent wi-fi, satellite TV, CD player, cell phone for renter use, land line with plentiful minutes included - plentiful seating - we plan to have a party for 12 tomorrow! - screened deck, with hammock We have had very few special requests, but in every case the owners have bent over backwards to be helpful. We are located about 3/4 of the way toward the north end of the island. We've stayed nearer Clarence Town on 4 previous trips here. Both have advantages, but overall, we love it here. Excellent shopping for groceries only 10 minutes away. (You need a rental car, not only here, but anywhere on the island). Small restaurants are spread up and down the island, but in our experience, have excellent local foods. Lots of exquisite water and guides for bonefishing, or chartering a boat for deep water fishing. You won't be sorry if your next long Island vacation is at Palmirage.

“Just need to pack your clothes.”

Reviewed 16 Nov 2013

Let me just say we were so glad that we stayed at Sara and Dan's. They provided us with useful information about the cottage before our arrival and made us feel that we were ready. The cottage was very private, even though it was located next to Sara and Dan's house. Everything was very clean. We were so surprised how the cottage was equipped with so many things to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Having a laundry and a dryer will help you to pack light as well (this is the first time that we went home with clean clothes in our bags.). The powerful fans and an air conditioner worked great to cool off. The mosquito nets that surrounds the cottage was helpful to reduce bug bites(I get eaten alive by mosquitoes.). Sara and Dan are very friendly and easy to talk to. They gave us all the tips around the island and secret beaches near by. Also they invited us to come hang out at the happy hour at Driftwood cafe where we had a great time dancing and meeting with the locals. Sara and Dan were always available, when we needed something. They also gave us plenty of space and privacy.Thank you guys for welcoming us to your beautiful cottage and share your love of the island with us.

Response from the owner What fun it was to host you two!! And I am so happy that my tips and tricks helped keep the biters at bay! We look forward to showing you more when you return for Regatta!

“Beautiful Location on Long Island Bahamas, Clean place, Great Pr”

Reviewed 15 Apr 2013

The place was very clean, quiet and private, but anything and everything was available, stuff I never thought even thought about. Everything from WiFi to Kayaks, to beach chairs, to coolers and ice! The place was comfortable, with everything you need, and if not just ask they are more than accomodating. The place is in a great location, beautiful beach 5 minute walk away, small town 10 min drive away, and best place to dance on Long Island 10 minutes the other way! The best thing about my stay was being treated like we were old friends, comfortable and completely welcomed.

“Long Island un isola indimenticable”

Reviewed 11 Apr 2013

Noi avevamo a nostra disposizione 2 biciclette e 1 kayak.

from the 1st email sent about the rental Sara was super helpful and friendly! setting us up with car rental/boat trip ect. That is why we ended up picking her cottage and glad that we did! Very cute/clean and felt like home! And we loved being able to pick our own lettuce for salads. we will definately return, and i've already recommeded her place to a couple of people I know wanting a vacation. It was the perfect location, in the middle of the island and a short walk to the beach. Had an amazing stay!
