Devi's Place is situated perfectly for a peaceful break away from the madness. The staff are very respectful of your privacy, providing information and service when required, but leaving you alone, at other times. Jepun Bungalow is well equipped and very homely. Devi's Place is situated in a pretty village outside of the hustle and bustle of Ubud. I highly recommend.
“Beauty, peace, service beyond”
We stayed in Jepun Cottage for a week prior to our son's wedding in Australia. It was a perfect combination of serene setting, proximity to activities, food and spas, the exotic beauty of Bali and gracious hospitality. Ketut and Janny advised and arranged day trips including a challenging, whole day tramp through rice fields and forests, directed us to the best places for food and entertainment and chatted with us about the history and society of Bali. Their service was needed even more after we left. When I arrived in Australia I discovered I had lost some jewelry which had been my mom's. While not valuable in dollar terms, it is precious to me. Janny responded to my emails with negative results from her searches of our cottage and I returned home resigned to the loss of this family treasure. Lo and behold, as they say, some two months later I received another email from Janny celebrating the finding of my black jewel case. Janny, not satisfied that she had exhausted the search, had gotten a ladder and a flashlight and found it pressed up against the back of our in-cottage safe which was rather high up in an armoire. She went to some trouble with customs, etc. to have it couriered to me here in Canada. This personal interest in the well-being of guests will be yours to experience if you have the good fortune to stay at Devi's Place. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
“Another beautiful stay”
I'm always in two minds recommending Devi's Place. On one hand I don't want people to know just how great it is, but on the other hand I want to give credit to the people here who do such a wonderful job. For us it is the perfect place to stay in the Ubud area. Far enough away from the busy centre to be really peaceful, but close enough to enjoy Ubud restaurants and shopping of you want to. The cottage we stay in, Jepun, is where we like to pretend we live. Our little home in the rice fields with the geckos and frogs as our friends. Peace, tranquility, a refreshing swim, read a book on the day bed, make a nice Bali coffee in the kitchen, order something delicious to eat from Murdi. Heaven. Can't wait to return :)
“"Next to the rice fields"”
Just a fence divides between this beautiful looked after Vila with an amazing swimming pool and the rice fields of the hard working farmers of Penestanan next to Ubud. A perfect hiding place for a romantic getaway or an artist looking for inspiration. Very pleasant environment. We enjoyed beautiful 4 days.
“Feels like home!”
My husband and I stayed in both cottages jepun and bamboo. Loved them both! The gardens are beautiful and ketut, janny and the team make it feel like home. I loved the pools. The location is great only a few minutes from ubud centre, so quiet at night. Ketut organized scooters for us to ride and helped with booking drivers and restuarants etc. the team are always smiling and are so happy to help wherever needed. Can't wait to come back. I love ubud, and Devi's place is by far my most favorite spot!
“A delightful and memorable experience”
Early in September I had the pleasure of spending 5 nights in Jepun, one of the villas at Devi's Place. Jepun was very comfortable, with everything to make for a wonderful stay and overlooks glorious natural scenery...rice paddies, ducks wandering all over their allotted territory, people working their land. I was amazed how cool the accommodation was, as a breeze continually flows from the open rice paddies and I only used the air conditioning at night to ensure constant temperature. Loved the saltwater pool which was few steps from the Villa, but layout of grounds (which were beautiful and very well maintained) ensured privacy at Jepun. Janny, the owner, was a gracious host and I enjoyed our conversations. The staff, each and every one, are absolutely delightful...always a smile. I shall return to this bit of paradise.
“Relaxing in a tropical paradise.”
Our second stay at Devi's place was even better than the first. Picturesque setting amongst colourful tropical gardens, comfortable villa, obliging staff. Absolutely perfect; nothing to change or improve. Yes we will be back again. Loved seeing the ducks from the bathroom window.
“We dont want to be home !!”
Greetings from cold, cold Geelong ! A million miles away already from 'our' Jepun cottage in Penestanan. Stumbled across this cottage after staying in other accommodation in Ubud and when I arrived I knew I had found the one. There were beautiful views, there was fresh linen and fantastically clean rooms, there was complete privacy, there was a true feeling of 'home' - a breath of fresh air. Other accommodation within Ubud, by comparison, felt tired or noisy or generally overrated. We loved the amazing little touches mostly due to the delightful but totally unobtrusive staff. None of our requests were ever too much trouble. We felt part of village life but loved riding our scooters into central Ubud thru the beautiful scenery. A stay in the cottage and the Penestanan life is not to be missed. True Bali. We miss seeing you around already Janny, Ketut, Ibu Murdi, all the staff and our cute 4 legged friend. We loved every minute. See you again. Terima kasih banyak ! xx
“Our home away from home.”
Just quickly flicked through the pictures presenting this property and they are old. The cottage has had renovations so basically look at the pictures and think twice as good. The new renovations are beautiful. Janny the owner and staff really make staying here a pleasure. Nothing is too much trouble. The whole process of your visit will be problem free, easy and convenient. Location wise is prefect for us. It is a really quiet location and peaceful outlook. The grounds and pool area are immaculate. I can highly recommend this property.
“Relaxing, excellent accommodation and very well looked after”
We recently stayed at Devi's place for 9 nights and can thoroughly recommend it. Our villa was really comfortable with views over ricefields giving the feeling that you're far away from the madding crowd when you're only 5 minutes away from the centre of Ubud. The villas are set in beautiful gardens and there is a lovely pool to help you cool down. Janny and her staff are very welcoming and do everything possible to make your stay a pleasant one. Don't leave without trying Murdi's cooking -it's delicious. This place is a real gem!
