“Beautiful private villa, perfect for an Ubud getaway”
I can't say enough about this villa, and Steve at privateubudvillas.com. You should definitely choose this villa or another from the villas that are offered. Excellent service and attention to detail. 5 stars!!!
“An Ubud Oasis”
We spent 18 days here in December, celebrating both Christmas and New Years. As we drove into the dirt lane leading to the villa, we truly thought we had made a mistake in booking this. But as we later found out, much of the real beauty of Ubud lies behind gates, through archways, down alleyways and winding paths. And such is Villa Damai. It is at the end of a pathway with 4 additional villas and when you open the wooden entry door to the villa compound, the villa, gardens and and pool are beautiful and even larger than they seem on Trip advisor with a nice view of rice fields. Kadek, the house person, is warm, attentive, personable and most accommodating to your needs...and he makes a great breakfast! Ask him to make you a true Balinese breakfast at least once! The villa is about a 20 minute walk into Ubud center or a quick, inexpensive taxi ride. There are also some really nice local dining spots should you not want to dine at the villa or go into Ubud. It was very peaceful - you just have to get used to nature sounds i.e., frogs, roosters. The Balinese people are lovely and exemplified by the staff of Villa Damai.
“A True Gem...”
Villa Damai is gorgeous! It's just a short walk into the main area of Ubud. There are lots of restaurants just in front of the villa on the main road in Penestanan. We had a couple of minor issues with our house boy, Kadek, but he was later replaced with Indra, who did a great job! The setting is very peaceful, it's away from the hum drum of Ubud, but close enough to still enjoy all that it has to offer. The villa itself is spacious and has a great washroom and shower. The kitchen is adequate too. Wifi can be slow at times. Amazing views, lots of daybeds to lose yourself in a great book. Love the open living concept. Overall, a great stay!
“A very special place”
We stayed here for 5 nights and it was a delightful experience. The villa is beautifully spacious and very tastefully decorated. It has a lovely garden and pool and we found it very easy to spend time just hanging out there. Breakfast was cooked by the lovely Kadek each morning a great way to start the day. This is one special place.Jen & Sean
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Damai - in fact, we really wanted to stay longer. Firstly, the location in Penestanan is great - away from the serious hussle and bussle of Ubud proper; Kadek (our driver and cook) prepared lovely breakfasts; The bed was really comfortable, and the pool was relaxing and refreshing. Can't fault it!
Excellent place to stay. Pleasant, peaceful, great facilities, yummy breakfast made for us every morning. I could not have asked for more.
a great place to spend time... huge pool on lush grounds. We had a great month here and kadek, the houseboy, took great care of us.Get Kadek to make you eggs for breakfast as he makes the best eggs i have had! Such a lovely big quiet villa and we spent alot of our time out on the verandah enjoying the breezes and stunning views of the rice fields. If you want a lovely quiet and open place to stay then look no further, wonderful!
“Our stay was relaxing and suppassed our expectations.”
Very clean villa with excellent daily service from Kadek our house boy / man. The breakfast's were delicious. Indonesians really have a way with scrambled eggs. Very private pool and verandah area where we felt safe and comfortable. Just a short taxi ride to central Ubud or a walk if not too hot. Eve day spa just minutes away is a wonderful day spa that is a must visit place. We will be returning. Carmel and Keith Markham Perth Wa
“Your own swett villa in Ubud”
It's probably the best deal you can possibly find in Ubud. A very comfortable villa with a private pool, rice paddy view and all that for a very reasonable price. I've stayed there twice and will try to stay there again - the only problem being, others have also discovered that the villa's a real treasure, so you have to book well in advance. Christophe
Didn't seem to be able to leave Ubud...First stay was at a health resort and before leaving found a driver to take us to different accommodations to check out before leaving for a week in Legian. We found Steve (thx Steve) and booked Villa Damai which is pretty well my dream stay, quiet with own pool, perfectly beautiful garden and a wonderful outdoor gazebo with day bed to while away a warm afternoon with the sound of nature all around. We didn't want to leave so back we went to Steve and he found a vacancy In villa Heliconia and was within a fraction of adding more time to stay even longer. The area has the best natural food restaurant (Alchemy) a few minutes up the road. The initial path down to the villas is sufficiently quirky and rundown to cause some fear but significantly adds to the surprise when entering your own private villa within a walled garden. A word of thanks also for the charming and helpful houseboys who made beautiful breakfasts and even more beautiful smiles :) and ended up taking us sadly back to Legian.
