“Breathtaking”

Reviewed 15 Apr 2013

My friends and I loved everything about the house and the location. The house was the same as what we saw on the website, we Didnt get lost to the house, everything was in good working order, the caretaker was wonderful. We enjoyed it and will Definately recommend to friends

“Superb! Wonderful holiday memories.”

Reviewed 7 Feb 2013

We were 4 adults, 2 pre-teen children and 5 dogs on holiday for 3 weeks at Gone to the Beach. What a wonderful December holiday. Normally would 6 people in different stages of life and 5 dogs make any one go mad but we had a great time. The house is spacious, well equipped and comfortable, neat and clean. The location close to the beach was excellent with the dogs and children that wanted to go to the beach a few times a day. Jogging on the beach or to Misty Cliffs was addictive every moring as well as walks on the mountain and the reserve on the other side of Redhill. The proximity of this serene village to Noordhoek and Simonstown and Fishoek is fantastic. Salie is an excellent housekeeper and John the wonderful host. We were so happy with every thing and after 3 weeks in the village we really felt part of the community. What a privilage!

“Fantastic, comfortable home away from home, right by the sea!”

Super weekend with friends and family. House has awesome decor and is comfortable with all you need provided, yet retains the feel of a beach cottage. Makes you feel you have had a holiday, even if you just come from Cape Town for one night!

“This house has such a lovely feel to it.”

Reviewed 10 Sep 2012

Service was excellent. Salie, the caretaker was helpful and nice. The house is very tastefully furnished in perfect style for a beach house. Welcoming. Really nice outside areas, with plenty of shade. Plenty nice towels and good bathroom facilities. I loved the efficient dishwasher. The location was perfect, with the beach a few minutes walk. Scarborough is so near to Cape Town, so excellent for a weekend away. The feel of the house was what impressed me most. There wasn't anything I didn't like.

“Our Perfect Wedding!”

Reviewed 26 Mar 2012

Dieter and I have a very special place in our hearts for Scarborough so it seemed perfect to get married there. We were searching for the perfect fit for our precious day. It needed to say everything about our relationship, the type of couple we are & most importantly, it needed to hold the values we treasure as dearly as we do... Gone to the Beach encompassed all that... On the 17th of March 2012, we committed our lives to each other & our family, on the porch of this beautiful little villa with just our children and our nuclear families in attendance, while the sun shone down on us. What a blessing! John Carne, and the very accomodating and ever helpful Salie, did everything to assist us in making this special day as memorable for us as possible. We would like to thank them for making our stay as blessed and effortless as they did. And wonderful experience and an exquisite blend of home, luxury and beauty.

“Idyllic Beach House”

Reviewed 27 Jul 2011

This was our first weekend away with our 2 labradors for out local baby-moon. John was super friendly and the caretakers very friendly and relaxed. This beach house sets the benchmark for what a typical beach house should be like. It's big, enough space for 2 families and a place where you can really "kuier". It was made for people, the braai area on the side of the house is privat and spacious. There's enough chairs and seats and the house is very well equiped with anything you need. Scarborough is a quiet little village with a nice beach. The house is about 100m's from the ocean. They will see us again and this will more than likely become our regular spot because it's far enough from Cape Town to feel you are away, but still close enough to drive there within an hour from where we stay.

“Absolutely wonderful villa”

Reviewed 18 May 2011

John was extremely helpful in recommending which one of his villa's would be most accomodating for my parents who were celebrating their 49 wedding anniversary and he was absolutely right! We had a wonderful stay, flying in from Canada it was lovely to see the african sunset and sights again. Saleth was delightful and kept the house immaculate. It is very spacious and comfortable for a family with children. The close within walking location to the beach was perfect. All my friends and co-workers when we showed them pictures of the Villa are looking into going to Cape Town for vacation. We can't wait to return either!!

“Great beach house”

Lovely position close to the Beach. Lots of space to relax and chill. Would definitely go again.

“A home away from home”

Reviewed 12 Jan 2011

What a gorgeous spacious and comfortable villa! The house had everything we could want from comfy couches, loads of seating spaces, plentiful kitchen utensils and even board games to keep you entertained. The bedrooms were beautifully decorated and comfortable. The only suggestion I would make is to put a TV in the lounge area.

Response from the owner Thank you for the suggestion. However we have a TV den with cable, dvd and widescreen TV) so that those wishing to watch TV can do so without disturbing those in the lounge who do not want to watch the box. Regards John,

“Awesome!”
