Very Good

“clares cottage”

Reviewed 4 May 2014

Very nice place for rest with wonderful views. Not far from facilities and good point of departure for visiting around. Pleasant journey in this comfortable cottage with a very pretty garden and farm animals in the field just behind. Very warm welcome and help. Fantastic environment

“Lovely stay”

We had a lovely stay at this cosy cottage. It's got everything you could want and Helen, the owner is on hand to help. The dogs loved the gardens, not sure the chickens enjoyed them quite so much! Ideally situated with loads of walking within a few minutes. We will return.

“If you want comfort combined with stunning scenery choose Clare'”

Reviewed 14 Nov 2013

Clare's Cottage is one of the most comfortable cottages we have ever stayed in. There is everything you could possibly need at the cottage. Definitely a home from home. The owner is extremely helpful and accommodating. The scenery surrounding the cottage is stunning. The garden is superb. We were fortunate to be there while the autumn colours were at their best. Wonderful comfortable beds, very well equipped kitchen. Would highly recommend this cottage.

“Great holiday in a fantastic cottage”

Reviewed 14 Nov 2013

Clare's cottage is just simply fantastic. We had a very warm welcome from Helen the owner when we arrived. Who gave us some great advice on the best walks nearby and details of all the local amenities. The cottage itself is very cosy and comfortable with everything you could ever need and more! The wood burning stove is great if you just want a nice chillout after a long day walking. The location is very good too as all the local amenities are only 3 miles away in Chepstow, which is a nice little town, and which also has the castle and museum for you too take a look at. There are also some othergreat places to visit nearby the cottage you can find details of them in the excellent welcome pack in the cottage. The garden is lovely, and dog safe. If you are looking for a great place to stay in South Wales we really do recommend Clare's cottage. We can't wait to come back again at some point in 2014.

helen the owner was so helpful and very welcoming everything was ready for us, the cottage has a wonderful charm,it has a wood burner that brings a cosy warmth to the cottage ( a basket of wood is ready and waiting for you )the kitchen has everything you need, the beds are very comfortable with fabulous soft warm quilts and pillows.location is stunning, local pubs about 2 miles away provide good food and reasonable prices.i loved the peace and quiet and the stunning scenery there was no shop around the corner so you need to remember supplies when you go out but that is not a bad thing.

“Amazing cottage with stunning garden and views to die for”

Helen was the perfect 'host' she was there when we needed any information and was discreet when we were happy to stay 'at home'. The cottage was incredibly well equipped and cosy. The furnishings were wonderful and reminded us of family homes, a mixture of interesting and well loved pieces. A car would be required to stay at the cottage as it is set in countryside but parking is off road. Our two dogs, Ellie and Barney were made especially welcome which made the whole experience enjoyable without being anxious about them. The location of the property is close to some fantastic walks and Helen gave us easy directions to them. We couldn't fault the whole experience (apart from we could have had better weather) and look forward to booking again for next year.

“Best chill out place ever!!!”

If you need to get away from your busy life to a lovely relaxing place then this is the place to go! Helen made us feel very welcome from day one. The views from the cottages are stunning - looking straight out to the fields below your bedrooms your find cows looking right at you! Friendly chickens everyday in garden. The weather was wonderful considering it was 1st week September so made the most of it having breakfast outside each morning. There's lovely dog walking all around you and pubs to eat out. Tintern abby is a must! I can assure you this will make you want to come back again and again! Helen has made this place feel like your coming from a home to a home - everything you might need while away will be in the cottage! Super! +++

Stayed at Clares cottage for 3 nights at the end of august we wished we could of stayed forever! The cottage is beautiful a lot bigger than we thought it would be and very well equipped. The garden was amazing very secure if you have dogs or children. The views from cottage wherever you stand, inside or outside are just breathtaking. We will definatelty be back and will stay longer next time. Helen is one of the most welcoming hosts we have ever met nothing was too much trouble - well done Helen you have a little gem there dont change anything as the title of this review says 'Perfect'

“A beautiful cottage in gorgeous countryside.”

We spent a week in Monmouthshire Cottage. Helen was the perfect host. She is so friendly and lovely and was always available to attend to anything we needed but left us to enjoy the cottage in privacy and peace. You do have to share the garden with her Chickens though (I personally loved this) they are funny, I especially liked the pheasant who thought he was a chicken and followed the others around. The cottage itself is beautiful, well equipped with everything you need. The views are amazing and we just loved sitting on the patio furniture outside looking across the Welsh hills and listening to the sheep (who are always bleating away, adding to the great country atmosphere). There is loads to do nearby, we went on lot of nice walks, some from the cottage and some a drive away. There is lots of information in the cottage about various local attractions to visit of which there are many, (Brecon Beacons and Raglan Castle are a must), also guides to the nearby towns, restaurants and shops. This gave us lots of ideas of things to do. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway to the country.

“Excellent stay, home from home.”

We have just returned home from our fifth visit to Helen's cottage. We were, as always, greeted as old friends. The cottage is very comfortable, well equipped and homely. The garden beautiful as are the views. We were amazed to see a pheasant living, during the day, with the hens. Helen is an excellent host. Thank you for another wonderful stay.
