“Half term famiky break”
Have had many summer breaks in Spoleto, this is the first during autumn half term. The apartment is roomy, comfortable and well positioned for access for the centre.
.Outstanding view, convenient location, big, roomy space, with all the amenities . Norma was quick to answer all questions and did her upmost to accommodate us. The owner of the apartment picked us up at the train station and greeted us with a bottle of wine, coffee, pasta etc. Apartment very clean and spacious. Highly recommend
“Love this place!”
We so enjoyed our week here. Outstanding view, convenient location, big, roomy space, with all we needed for a great time. Laurie was so very kind and gracious. A real gentleman. Norma was quick to answer all questions and lovely as well. We met the owner of the apartment who was very helpful and ready to ensure our stay was a success. We appreciated their efforts to be perfect hosts for this great place. Thanks, Guys, for everything. The coffee was the best.
Ah, this apartment is a honey. Very few places in Spoleto offer views, let alone not 1 but 2 patios. Terrazzo Duomo is a rare exception. Look right and the duomo and Rocco loom, protectively close. Look straight ahead and savour the rolling hills and mountains...even asissi can be seen on a clear day. When indoors, the apartment is tastefully decorated with 2 ample double bedrooms on the 1st floor and another twin on a balcony, reached by a narrow spiral staircase that we, thankfully, didn't have to negotiate. The kitchen comes stocked with essentials, plus the gifts of a local red wine and olive oil from the owner's press. The only, only thing I could have wished for was an English language TV station, just for news. Laurie and Norma looked after us well, even sending a helper for bags when Laurie came to bid us farewell and take us to our cars ( there were 4 of us). A perfect week. The town itself is stunning, a treasure. As to fine food, it abounds. At Laurie's sugggestion, we dined with other visitors in Danielle's garden, a highlight of the week. Unlike many other reviewers, however, we would not return to di Mateo. perhaps it was an off day or perhaps friends were dining, but the service from the owner was desultory at best. As for food fresh from the garden, different every day, what we ate echoes the dishes mentioned in other reviews. Each dish was good in itself, but coming one at a time-- a dish of spelt, another of eggplant, then green beans...and so it goes, till the pasta is announced and everyone is full and bored. We left, as did two other tables, at this point. Still, the bill was for the full 3 course meal. Not a good experience. But a walk up to the Rocca in the morning, across the aqueduct and into the sacred groves, all all is forgiven.
“Return to Spoleto”
This was our fifth holiday in Spoleto. When you have discovered perfection, why settle for less? We stayed, as always, in an apartment managed by Norma and Laurie. They are the most caring, friendly, helpful couple imaginable. Nothing is too much trouble. The apartment was gorgeous, clean, uncluttered, with plenty of indoor and outdoor space and so close to coffee stops, restaurants and wonderful walks. Our absolute favourite restaurant, for two years running, is 9cento casual restaurant where the food is so good and the prices so reasonable and the staff so friendly that we returned night after night. We had no car and found that, contrary to all the rumours, you can see the Piano Grande using public transport - as long as you go on a Thursday! It's worth it! There are trains to Spello, Perugia, Assisi and Rome that don't necessitate leaving at five in the morning. Nine thirty was fine. Staying in the town with no car means you're not rushing off to see some new attraction every day. It means you explore, on foot, the streets and shops and churches and enjoy the day to day bustle and rhythm of Italian life. It's magic. We were not ready to return home.
“Optimal place to stay in Spoleto”
We rented this astonishing apartment for a short sabbatical of 3 weeks in Spoleto. The period coincided with the Spoleto Festival. The apartment's location is optimal, w.r.t. theaters, shops and monuments alike. The view is even more stunning than the (elaborate) website already suggested. Stairs going up from the street and within the building are very well maintained and easily managed. The apartment is beautiful, light, well equipped and allowed us to also invite friends (who could use the 2nd bedroom and 2nd bathroom). The kitchen in the main living room is adequate with a large working area. We hardly went out for dining because shops with high quality food and reasonable prices are within 5 minutes walking distance, as is the small market place. The extremely high ceilings of this old building (the apartment is completely refurbished and modernized but you can see the old ceilings) give a very spacious look and feeling. There is no air conditioning but we never missed it (and it was extremely hot during the Festival!) because the whole apartment remains cool and you can open many windows. We are long (1.93) but the beds were absolutely long enough for us and had very good matrasses. Sufficient amounts of towels, sheets, covers etc. Chairs in the living room very comfortable (couch, 2 comfort chairs) and the dining table (glass; perfect also to work on) has 8 comfortable dining chairs. At first I missed a small desk to work on with my computer but soon the dining table became a perfect replacement. We were fetched from the station by both the owner of the apartment and Laurie; the latter takes care of all apartments and their renters associated with this organization. We also had a cello to be transported. No problem at all (the acoustics are phenomenal for playing a string instrument). Laurie takes care of you as a perfect host. We enjoyed also many of his culinary suggestions!. We will definitely come back. Reserve in time though: good things are rare!
Do not miss dinner with Danielle. Other than that it is a perfect getaway. From all aspects.
I'm not sure I can put into words how pleased we were with this apartment. Working with Norma & Laurie was a pleasure as they were both extremely helpful and great with helping us with all our needs. The reservation went smoothly & all our emails were answered quickly by Norma. Laurie picked us up from the train which was very nice and showed us the area while heading to the apartment. The apartment was very clean and shows exactly like the pictures. Very nice, spacious apartment & the terrace had amazing views. The location couldn't have been better as we were off the main path so it was peaceful yet close enough to walk everywhere. The recommended Italian dinner with Daniella & Luciano is a must as well as dinner at andreas. Both amazing experiences. The welcome package was a very nice surprise as we had a long day traveling. Having items to make spaghetti dinner, homemade fig tart and drinks was absolutely perfect. We can't thank Norma & Laurie enough for making a week long trip perfect. We plan to return and will stay at this apartment. Wish we could buy it. Lol.
We were collected from our agreed meeting point and driven to this well found apartment with its superb terrace and views both up to the Duomo and Rocca as well as down across town to the high hills. A defective kettle was replaced rapidly and the only thing missing was a teapot. As a group of 6 adults, we tested the facilities to the full, including the 2 mezzanine beds which were not as awkward to use as we feared (but beware of the bottom step!). This was an excellent base for exploring Spoleto (particularly as the weather was against us) and also the surrounding country for mountains, flowers and other historic towns etc. We enjoyed shopping locally to eat on the terrace (on those occasions when the sun shone) and dining out (particularly when feasted royally by a recommended local couple in their own house). Cars had to be left 15 mins walk away in the official underground car park costing 5€ per night, but this only once caused inconvenience.
“Lovely Spoleto getaway”
The Terrazza Duomo apartment was absolutely lovely. We enjoyed this central unit as a family of four on a recent visit to Spoleto. The location was second-to-none, the apartment was spotless and so comfortable, and all amenities were well within walking distance. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone.
