“Very comfortable and excellent reception”

Reviewed 12 Mar 2014

Were fifteen days enjoying all that cape town has to offer. And when we returned home we had a comfortable place with great accommodations, fine cuisine and a wonderful shower. Next to the bustling Kloof Street and in a great neighborhood. I can not forget to mention the reception and great company of Renoir and alec. Excellent!

Response from the owner Dear Daniel and Carla Thank you for the wonderfull review. It was great having you at Down The Lane for 15 days and meeting Brazilians from Sao Paulo. You were wonderfull guests. Kind regards Renier

“Excellent value!”

Very nice place to stay in Cape Town - conveniently located within walking distance to shops and restaurants, yet very quiet, lovely little outside area (reclinig chairs outside and a bigger sofa would be an extra plus!), nicely furnished rooms, very friendly service.

“Comfortable Homely accom in a great Location”

Reviewed 10 Jan 2014

We found the Down the Lane apartment to be just like a home away from home. It is comfortable & has all you need if you choose to cook a meal at home or is within walking distance to a number of great eateries. Also found it to be a convenient location whatever you choose to do in Cape Town. Renier was friendly and happy to help with any local tips. Only downside was no internet access which I find most travellers depend on these days. Thank you for a great stay.

Response from the owner Hi Sharon Thank you for your positive review, really appreciate it. Regarding the internet access, we have found that our previous guests have made use of 2 coffee shops which is in walking distance from the apartment and which have free wi fi access, however we will look into getting internet access in future as you mentioned that most traveller's do these days do depend on it. Regards Renier

“Lovely stay in a charming apartment”

Reviewed 20 Nov 2013

After a gruelling 5000 mile trip through Namibia and Botswana we were able to chill out at the Down The Lane Holiday apartment.Perfectly situated, spacious and well furnished..this is a great place to stay. Renier and alex were discreet but very friendly hosts..who were always on hand to sort out any little problems and also there to give us good advice about places to see in Cape Town and the surrounding areas. I would highly recommend this apartment..and would certainly try and book it should we return to wonderful Cape Town!

“Home away from Home”

We received awesome service. They catered 100% for our needs. The apartment is absolutely fabulous. Centrally located with safe parking.

“Elegant and welcoming Cape Town classic”

Reviewed 13 Feb 2013

The service was attentive, yet not intrusive and very professional. One immediately feels very welcome in the home, not only due to the decor, but also the impeccable professionalism and warm nature of the host, Renier. The furnishings are elegant and the home is a place to relax either in the tranquil garden or indoors. The home is ideally situated in the hub of Tamboerskloof and walking distance to the city centre, where a myriad of great restaurants and entertainment await. It was truly a most enjoyable stay and I am looking forward to my next visit!

“Gem of an apartmnet in the most intersting neighborhood”

Reviewed 22 Jan 2013

We loved every moment of our three-week stay in this garden apartment. Although it's under the main house, it's been lovingly restored, graciously appointed with antiques, and is much more spacious and sunny than we expected from the photos. Both bedrooms are very comfortable. The bathroom is enormous and one of us soaked in the tub extensively. We we were also able to work easily on our laptops in the living room and in the really delightful garden seating area. The location is stunning, and we walked the five minutes down Kloof Nek each night to one of the many great restaurants (try sushi at Takumi and drinks at The Power & The Glory.) We used the on-street parking with no problem. The only cons--the kitchen is tiny with no oven (just stovetop), so you're not going to do a lot of cooking comfortably (but don't worry-just go to the Mozzarella Sa cafe down the street instead). And, there's no wireless, but it was easy enough to check e-mail once day at the wifi cafes/internet points down the street. There are small step-ups within the apartment, so this would not be a good option for anyone mobility-challenged. We, however, as a child- free couple plus adult friend, would definitely stay here again on another visit.

“Just perfect”
