Description

'Absolute gem', 'fantastic hideaway', 'warm and comfortable'. Some of our previous guests’ comments so why not come and stay to find out for yourselves; you will be very welcome. Oakleaves is a very comfortable self-contained annex within our home in a quiet leafy road leading down to the sea. The self-catering accommodation has its own drive with parking space and is accessed through its own front door into a porch and hallway. The large bedroom, with en-suite shower room, contains a very comfortable super-king sized bed which can be divided into two 3' single beds if required. The bedroom is large enough to take a travel cot. The fully-equipped kitchen, dining area and well-furnished lounge are open plan with patio doors opening onto a private south facing courtyard garden with patio furniture. Oakleaves has all the facilities you need for a relaxing stay including Wi-Fi, flat screen SMART TV, DVD player. It is approximately 700m from the beach and Seaview café (ideal for breakfast) and only 5 minutes walk from the nearest pub which serves good pub food and real ale. Oakleaves is ideal for two people who are looking for relaxation. Come and explore the unique island of West Mersea, famous for its oysters, seafood restaurants, yachting and the surrounding north Essex countryside. If you are visiting family or friends or just have a few days to spare and need some time to yourselves, then come to us. We welcome both short breaks (minimum 2 nights) and longer stays. A welcome pack is ready for your arrival but if you would like us to supply a complete breakfast pack, please contact us for further details. We regret that we are unable to take pets.

Getting around

It is quite easy to get around West Mersea as everything is within walking distance. The beach is about 5 minutes walk from the house and the village shops are a 10 and 20 minute walk depending where you wish to shop. There is also a regular bus service from Colchester which passes the end of Fairhaven Avenue and goes into and out of the village. The Anchorage is a very pleasant 45 minute walk along the beach but can be reached more quickly by road, about 5 - 7 minutes in the car.

Interaction with guest

The accommodation is completely self-contained but we are available for any assistance you may require. Our aim is for you to have a relaxing comfortable break so we try not to be intrusive but we are there if you need us. Within the accommodation there is an information pack which contains lots of ideas for things to do and details of local amenities. We look forward to and welcome your feedback.

“Excellent - just what we hoped for!”

We stayed at Oakleaves on West Mersea Island and loved it. Whilst visiting family in Colchester and Colchester zoo. The accommodation was excellent. The bed was large and extremely comfortable. We only had breakfast there but the kitchen was fully equipped with everything and Sue had even left us some essential supplies that were great. There is a small outside area with table and chairs where we ate our breakfast listening to the birds sing!
