Description from owner

Description

Situated in Saint Brice de Landelles, a village with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside, Le Haut Champ gîte is a converted barn dating from the 19th century and is full of character with modern conveniences. It is set in a tranquil location with stunning views of the local countryside yet close to historic sites, such as Le Mont Saint Michel, Fougères Castle, The Cascades in Mortain and many others. Being only a few kilometres from both the Brittany and Pays de la Loire borders it is the perfect location to enjoy the many visitor attractions and local towns and villages the three regions have to offer. Close to three ferry ports (Caen, Cherbourg and Saint Malo) and Rennes airport Le Haut Champ gîte is perfect for visiting southern Normandy and the neighbouring regions or as a stopover en route to the centre/south of France.

Le Haut Champ gîte is spacious and light with quality fixtures and fittings yet at the same time retaining many of the original features such as the beautiful stone walls and exposed beams. Our aim has been to combine the “old and the new”, to reflect the heritage of the building but enable you to enjoy modern facilities and make your stay a happy and comfortable one.

There are two bedrooms, Les Arbres (kingsize) & La Sélune (double), each bedroom is accessed via its own staircase and has its own ensuite shower room. Both bedrooms have beautiful original exposed wooden beams and lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Each bedroom has a fitted wardrobe with space to store your luggage and plenty of wooden hangers for your clothes as well as two bedside tables and table lamps. To ensure you have a good nights sleep we have very comfortable good quality mattresses with white cotton bed linen and all the duvets and pillows are feather. Both shower rooms have good quality shower cubicles & showers and are modern & contemporary. As well as the usual toilet and sink with vanity unit you will find a chrome heated towel rail and a mirror. Lovely soft towels and a bath mat are included for your stay as well as toilet rolls and hand soap. For those guests who have chosen a two week stay towels are changed at the start of the second week.

The open plan lounge is situated on the ground floor and is spacious, with comfortable seating and a dining table for 4 people. The original stone wall provides character and charm and there is a fire place with wood burning stove, perfect for cooler nights. In addition to the wood burner, there is electric heating and the gîte also benefits from its own hot water tank. The modern country style kitchen is fully equipped with a full range of utensils/crockery along with an electric oven and hob, fridge (with freezer compartment), microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, kettle, toaster, iron and ironing board.

The gîte has access to fibre optic internet Wi-Fi and both Freesat and French TV. For those who enjoy their music or love their movies, a DVD player and bluetooth speaker are also included. There is a selection of DVDs and books to enjoy during your stay. There is also has a separate terrace for relaxing and dining whilst taking in the wonderful countryside views. Or you can enjoy the walks and scenery right on your doorstep.
