Description
Oak, Chestnut and Walnut cottages are stone-built in traditional Normandy style and have two double and two twin-bed rooms, a family bathroom with bath, washbasin, and wc, and a shower room with multi-jet shower, washbasin and wc. The shower/toilet room in Oak Cottage is located on the ground floor and is immediately adjacent to a double bedroom, making it very convenient for grandparents or elderly guests.
Each gite has a spacious lounge with a comfortable sofa and easy chairs, satellite tv to receive English freeview channels and French language television., a DVD/CD player and a fully equipped kitchen with oven and hob, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and fridge/freezer, and a dining room with seating for up to eight people. Internet access is provided, as of course is all bed linen and towels, though guests are asked to bring their own beach towels. In each gite there is also a hairdryer, iron and ironing board and clothes airer. There is also a good selection of books and DVD's and a large selection of literature regarding places of interest and leisure facilities in the area, there are also a selection of board games and children’s toys .
To complement the exceedingly high standard of internal accommodation, each gite has its own patio area with table and chairs and its own bbq. The patios each open out into an extensive fully enclosed garden with children's swings, slide and trampoline, table tennis table and Aladdin's Cave full of children's toys, bats and balls. The property is approached by a separate driveway, has ample enclosed parking, and is just as ideal for families with young children as it is for couples and friends who want this convivial atmosphere from which to enjoy the delights of Normandy.

“Comfortably, well-equipped and perfect for the children”
We had a fantastic week in Oak Cottage, where there was nothing to fault. It was spotlessly clean on arrival and the hosts had provided everything we needed for our children, even including a pushchair for our baby. The kitchen was better equipped than mine at home (!) with everything from a salad spinner to a cheese slicer and all types and sizes of pans and utensils. A bonus for us was the plastic children’s cups, plates and cutlery which took away the worry of them breaking something! The garden is absolutely huge with a perfect mixture of private patio and shared space to chat with neighbouring guests if you wish. The trampoline was a big hit with our children, and there was something in Aladdin’s Cave for all ages from baby to adult. We had 3 beach days - all beautiful and much quieter than English beaches in summer. Carentan market was thriving. The pedalos at Etang des Sarcelles were fun (we went on them twice) and also the mini train across the road. We got our history fix at the D-Day Experience museum and also had a lovely morning in Saint Mere Eglise. The hosts were extremely friendly and easy to talk to, and although we had everything we needed and had planned our day trips, I wouldn’t have hesitated to ask their advice if I’d needed to. They made an effort to learn our children’s names and engage with them. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we have rebooked for next year, along with some friends we made from another cottage!
