Description

A modernised traditional Azorean cottage consisting of two apartments on the island of Pico. Apartment A is situated 1 kilometer from the the sea in the midst of a sloping hillside bordering on the forest edge and close to mountain trails. The area is rich in the typical Azorean flora and fauna and has stunning panoramic views of the rising sun in the east. It is a first floor apartment and looks across the channel to Sao Jorge with the village of Prainha half a kilometer away.
This is an ideal base from which to explore the island of Pico which is the most traditional and is unmistakable for the great volcano which dominates its skyline. There is a diving school in Prainha while the island also offers yachting, hunting, hiking and underwater fishing.
The apartment features two bedrooms, one with double bed and the other two single bunk beds. There is a beautiful bathroom and a nice living room featuring an open fire. The kitchen features a traditional Azorean oven and also has a modern fitted kitchen with four person dining table.
The nearby forest is rich in fruit trees brought to the island from all over the world. This is an ideal apartment from which to explore the various hiking trails and one can find themselves in beautiful lush surroundings minutes from the door. It is also possible to hunt rabbit, chicken, pidgeon and quail. Whale watching can also be enjoyed from Madalena while other water related activites include swimming with dolphins and sport fishing..
Of course there is always the challenge of climbing to the summit of Pico.

I would like my guests to appreciate the local ambiance, this is a rural area,
so please do not frighten the animals, just slow down relax and enjoy the scenery.
Also please only let what is natural down the toilet,as it all goes into a tank
that can not digest plastic or rubber,Please take care ,thank you.
