Description from owner

Description

Cariad Cottage offers a cosy retreat for 2 with beautiful uninterrupted sea views.

Attached to the owners home, and part of a barn convertion, Cariad Cottage is full of character. With apex ceilings in the lounge and exposed oak beams throughout the cottage offers a cosy, relaxing ambience. On the ground floor is the entrance hallway from which you will find a well equipped kitchen, toilet shower room and bedroom with double bed. The oak stairs lead to a comfortable lounge and dining area with patio doors opening onto a balcony and stone steps to a small courtyard garden.

A short walk across the fields gives access to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path leading down to Caerfai Bay and in the other direction Caerbwdy Bay. The quaint city of St Davids with its beautiful Cathedral, shops, pubs, galleries and restaurants is less then a mile away and the harbour village of Solva is just 2 miles away.

This is a no smoking property.

“Perfect place to enjoy the Pembrokeshire Coast”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2021

This was our fourth visit to Cariad Cottage and it just keeps getting better and better! We always receive a very warm welcome from Christine, Robert, and Dexter the dog! The cottage is spotless, comfortable, peaceful, and in the most beautiful spot. We love sitting out on the terrace and looking out to the sea. You feel very cut off from the world and yet St David's is only a short walk or even shorter drive away. A short walk across private fields also takes you straight to the coastal path and down to the beach at Caerfai. It is the perfect place to enjoy the Pembrokeshire Coast. Thank you, Christine and Robert!

“Breathtakingly Picturesque”

Reviewed 21 Jul 2020

Robert and Christine were the embodiment of lovely. We were welcomed on arrival by both and given a detailed brief, which was incredibly kind of them. Throughout our stay they kept in touch to see if we were ok and if they could do anything for us. Their knowledge of the local area was a bonus as we both enjoy walking. Robert himself, walked me to the coastal path so I knew where I was going. The cottage was immaculate. It was spotless, well equipped and homely. The cottage its self might be called an ‘up-side-down’ cottage as the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom was on the ground floor and the dining room come sitting room was on the 1st floor. This detail really made the holiday so much better as I could sit on the upstairs balcony, eat my breakfast and enjoy the incredibly coastal views. St Davids and the local area is breath taking; if you enjoy walking and seeing local areas, then this is the place for you to stay. The people were welcoming and so very polite. They’ve worked out a manageable system to get the people in and out of shops in a safe manner which works well. Each night, my partner and I took a walk on Newgale Beach which is about 6 or 7 miles away. When the tide is out, it stretches for about a mile and a half. It was the best way to end the day, very peaceful and very beautiful. Thank you so very much Robert and Christine, we had a lovely week and will absolutely be coming to see you both again.

“A magical find”

Reviewed 4 Aug 2019

We were so lucky to stay for a whole week in Cariad cottage in a fabulous location. The high standard, quality and cleanliness exceeded our expectations. Although we went for a relaxing week we found ourselves doing rather a lot with miles of coastal path walking, we walked once to Solva where we enjoyed the beauty of the idyllic harbour and visited Artist Warren Heaton in his Gallery there followed by lunch at No 35. We also walked from Moylegrove to St Dogmaels using the Poppit Rocket bus service one way. We did a boat trip to beautiful Skomer Island managing to see the last of the puffins until next Easter. We spent hours pottering around St Davids and visited the spectacular Cathedral three times, once for Sunday Carvery in the refectory which was delicious. We had an envigourating swim at the nearby Caerbwdy just a stones throw away. We discovered the delights of Mrs Will the Fish's fantastic seafood platters which you can order to take away from Solva (google for the number) and enjoyed it with a glass or two of wine and some crusty bread on the balcony looking out to sea. Holidays don't get much better than this. On the last day we visited Porthgain harbour and had the special catch of the day Monkfish for lunch at The Shed, which was incredible. We hoped to walk from Porthgain the 2 miles coast path to Abereiddy and maybe swim in the famous Blue lagoon but ran out of time so another reason to return! Cariad is a gem of a place for so many reasons, homely and peacefully relaxing we really didn't want to go home and would definitely love to come back, if you're thinking of booking this cottage then do it you will not regret it. Thanks Christine and Rob for a lovely week, we hope to be back in the near future. Julie and Paul
