Description
The apartment lies on the first floor and has two bedrooms. It can accommodate 3 people comfortably plus a baby or small child. A shared 12x7 m pool with loungers is open from mid May until mid September and the private land includes a fruit orchard. The perfect base to explore the local towns and food festivals, restaurants and wine makers! The famous white truffle festival at Moncalvo will take place this year on the last 2 weekends in October and the largest truffle fair, in Alba, runs every weekend from October 12 until November 17 - don't miss it!
Back in the 16th century La Famulenta was a monastery of Jesuit monks. Agriculture was their main activity and their produce fed the surrounding localities of Moncalvo, Grana, Casorzo and Grazzano Badoglio. These villages sit on the rolling hills that are called the Monferrato in Piedmont. In June 2014 the Monferrato has been appointed a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our apartment overlooks the vineyards of Fulvio and Dario Natta who make the local Barbera and other delicacies. Surrounded by the vineyards lie the hazelnut shrubs that produce the famous Piedmontese hazelnuts of the variety 'Tonda Gentile' for the unique Giandujotti.
