Fabulous location and a cosy, secluded cabin. Loved the view of the river from the lounge area and if we’d been there in summer, it would have been great to sit out on the decking as well. Once … More

“Amazing lodge”

Reviewed 12 Apr 2016

The lodge is absolutely lovely! It's a rare finding, as one doesn't often find an accommodation by the river with fantastic views. It is very well equipped with everything you'd need and it was spotless clean. Decoration is really cosy and done to a high standard. Having the balcony by the river is simply amazing. Elaine and Edgar were very nice and friendly and gave us some good advice about hikes we could do around the area. It was very nice to arrive to the cottage and find some milk, tea, chocolates and wine! The lodge is very conveniently located as it's only a couple of miles away from one of the routes to Snowdon and it is also very close to Beddgelert. We really enjoyed our stay there and would love to go back.

“Fantastic Snowdonia Hideaway”

Reviewed 8 Apr 2016

From the moment we arrived at Snowdon Lodge and met Ed and Elaine we knew we were guaranteed a fabulous midweek break. Both were there when we arrived and escorted us to the lodge. When making the booking I had mentioned it was my husbands birthday and that I was a coeliac. In our lodge waiting for us was a bottle of wine, a box of chocolates, juice drinks for our five year old son and a box of luxury gluten free biscuits for me! The property was extremely clean, well presented and contained everything we needed to make it a true home from home. Situated right next to the river we soon got used to the sound of the water thundering past. We were fairly lucky with the weather but one evening there was a storm and it was lovely being warmly tucked inside the lodge listening to the rain and wind outside. During our stay we visited Sygun Copper Mine in Beddgelert which was a great family afternoon out. We also travelled on the Snowdonia Mountain Railway (booking in advance is essential) which we also enjoyed. We also visited Caernarfon where had booked our son onto Crazyclimb at the Beacon Climbing Centre which he thoroughly enjoyed. After enjoying the best gluten free fish and chips at J and C's Chippy we spent the afternoon exploring Caernarfon castle, we we also enjoyed immensely. Glaslyn Ices in Beddgelert offered gluten free pizza which we can also recommend. It's also worth mentioning the freeview signal is patchy at times so it's worth taking some DVDs with you to watch if this happens. All in all we had a fabulous break and have already booked the Snowdon Lodge for a week in April 2017. We can't wait to return.

“5 star escape set within a stunning location”

Reviewed 1 Apr 2016

My Wife and I decided to opt for this property over others, mainly because of the images on the website coupled with the flowing stream outside the property. The property in person exceeded all expectations from the images! We were greeted by Ed upon arrival, along with a friendly Border Collie. Ed showed us up to the property and how to operate the boiler etc. It was clear that if there were any problems that Ed and Elaine would be happy to help. A bottle of wine and chocolates were placed in the property for our arrival, which was a lovely touch. Over the next few days my Wife and I had a wonderful and relaxing time, we took our Golden Lab along with us who thoroughly enjoyed the nearby walks, and the 2 horses and Pony on site! The only time we required assistance was when we needed to light the gas cooker for the first time, this was swiftly sorted by Ed and Elaine whom helped straight away with no issues! Other than that we were left to enjoy our Easter break in private, it was comforting thought to know they were only down the path should we require help. Overall this was a fantastic break away for us, made completely by the quality of this property and location. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing break away. Perfect for couples, dogs, and small families.

“Excellent accommodation in an Idyllic location.”

Reviewed 8 Feb 2016

We were looking for somewhere to go for a short stay. Our usual trips involve camping but because of the time of year (and good old British weather!) decided to try something different. Myself and partner were not disappointed! .. We booked at very short notice and Elaine & Ed were very accommodating, letting us stay at Snowdon Lodge with our 2 small well behaved dogs. The lodge has everything you would need for a comfortable stay, with a twin room and double room (inc en-suite) .. also a separate shower/wc room.. well equip kitchen with gas cooker and oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and microwave, kettle, toaster... literally everything! .. the living area was bright, modern, centrally heated and open plan (with patio doors leading outside to a large decking area) There is a dining suite and 2 sofas (one of which is a bed-settee so room for 6+ with a travel cot provided if needed) .. Tv, Dvd player... Freeview (weather permitting) But, who needs Tv when there are 26 miles of forest walks less than a mile up the road! (we did one of these with the dogs and it was magical!!, even in the rain (pack waterproofs problem solved!) Just down the road, is the pretty little village of Beddgelert with pubs etc and a 7 mile drive to Porthmadog will take you to the closest supermarket (Tesco) .. The owners also provided a selection of brochures for activities in and around the area. Snowdon Lodge is set on the banks of Afon Colwyn, simply beautiful!! We would highly recommend a visit and stay at these lovely lodges (Snowdon sleeps 6+ Colwyn sleeps 2) Don't delay in booking, as it won't be long before the secret of this place is well and truly out! We will certainly be back!

Response from the manager Wow!! thank you so much for your lovely review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Dont forget we offer a 10% discount for returning guests and anyone you refer to us as long as they book direct. The forest tracks start on the door step and are ideal for walkers mountain bikes and hores riding. There is also 1.5 miles of private fishing on the farm here so lots to do or you can just relax on the decking with a galss of wine and watch the river. Very best wishes Ed & Elaine from Snowdonia Holiday Lodges
