Description

This lovely and very popular 5-bed villa has a great holiday feel and being located in a quite residential area, close to all facilities and to the access to the motorway system, it is the perfect choice for a family holiday or to explore the island.

From the entrance hall, stairs lead to the large very family friendly open-plan living space with large tall windows that bring in plenty of light. The sitting area has comfortable seating, a very large cable TV and air-conditioning.

A 10-seat dining table is found next to the breakfast bar and open-plan fully equipped kitchen that leads to a laundry and opens via French doors to the pool solarium. A guest toilet can be found on this floor.

The high wall surrounding the large pool solarium makes it very private and a veritable suntrap. The large rectangular pool alongside the wide covered veranda with built-in barbecue and outdoor dining becomes the centre point for your leisure time in the villa.

On the lower level is a games room with a billiards table, table football, and floor mats which are ideal for yoga or Pilates practice.

There are two Master Bedrooms, each with their own en-suite bathroom, one on the ground floor, ideal for those with mobility restrictions, and one on the first floor. A double bedroom and a further bedroom with a double bed and two single beds (single bed with pull-out single low single bed) share the family bathroom on the first floor. All first-floor bedrooms lead to the balcony that runs along the whole front of the house with views of the mountains and sea - the perfect place for quiet moment.

On the lower ground floor, off the entrance, is a further bedroom with two double beds which use the shower room next door of the games/yoga room. Although the house is shown for a maximum occupancy of 12, by sharing the double beds in this room, the maximum capacity goes up to 14.

The owners of Casa Petronella own and operate the Nau Santa Maria, a replica of Comubus's sailing ship, which offers daily sails along the coast. Guests of Casa Petronella benefit from a 10% discount when tickets are purchased locally via the owner and paid in cash.

Pool heating can be provided and should be requested at least one week in advance. Should it be requested after arrival at the villa, the minimum charge applicable is one week, which is payable from the time the heating is turned on.

We are sorry, but in fact this was an unfortunate situation, there was a breakdown in the fridge, which was replaced immediately and which caused a flood and the consequences of that flood were unknown to both us and the property managers. The mould was a consequence of that flood and only appeared days after you checked in. We would like to point out that after your check-out the owners immediately rectified this situation with the necessary intervention. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you in the future. Response from the manager We first heard from this customer on the 3rd day of his stay at Casa Petronella, to inform us that hot water was not reaching all bathrooms. We immediately reported the issue and, after advising the customer, the owner, accompanied by an engineer, went to the house that same morning to verify the issue. They found the hot water system was working perfectly and reaching all bathrooms. From that date, we received almost daily e-mails from the customer demanding 400 Euros compensation, threatening legal action and the posting of bad reviews on all the reservation websites if we did not meet his compensation payment deadline. The e-mails were actually quite nasty, with varied threats including non-negotiability. No further issues were reported in these, only a demand for compensation. We pride ourselves on our service, as in fact is proven by the fact that the issue raised by this customer was dealt with within two hours of being reported. We work very hard at ensuring our customers have a great holiday and enjoy their holiday villa. Perhaps this customer is used to owners simply agreeing to unwarranted compensation to avoid a negative review, but we do not acquiesce to demands of this nature. Casa Petronella is a lovely holiday villa, exactly as described in detail and as per the photographs. As you can see from the previous 13 reviews 12 of which rated their stay 5/5 and one 4/5, guests have been happy here. Even through the pandemic this villa is so popular it was mostly occupied. Please read the true reviews from other customers, and you will see you can certainly book Casa Petronella with confidence.

“Wonderful large family villa; many memories made in Madeira”

Wonderful villa holiday. 11 people spanning 4 generations of my family age between 2yrs and 82 yrs stayed there comfortably for almost 3 weeks. Very spacious homely feel. Great kitchen and outside space both of which were well used. Pool was great and grandchildren loved it. Child friendly accommodation with stair gates and cots and high chairs made available. Basement games room well used by the boys/men in the party. Main bedrooms lovely with fantastic views from the balcony. Petronella was very welcoming and answered all our queries throughout the holiday. We were very grateful for contact with her especially given we arrived a day late and quite late into the evening and by ferry! She was still there to meet us. We had to land in Porto Santo, a neighbouring island as the plane after 2 attempts couldn’t land in Funchal. Apparently it does happen occasionally because of cross winds and we were unlucky. Eventually landed in Porto santo and spent the day there in an all inclusive resort arranged by easy jet before catching ferry to Funchal in the evening. The ferry was a lovely trip and I would recommend it but not after 36 hrs travelling and waiting in airport terminal for several hours for easyJet to decide what to do with 200 stranded passengers! Can’t fault our holiday at this lovely villa. One comment that might be helpful to point out is whilst the basement bedroom was lovely and particularly for older kids, the bathroom was not really up to the standard of the other 3 lovely bathrooms on the upper floors. Madeira was beautiful and the villa was only 10-15 minutes drive from centre. Good bus service but would recommend a car. We had 2 cars and used them daily. Many memories made here: Reid’s cccktails; Monte cable car ride and toboggan run; lido days; Beautiful beach at machico; lavada walks; very steep climbs in first gear up to some beautiful views. Our Madeira people were really helpful aswell; thanks Norbeta for organising a full day tour on our last day for whole family and then drop off at airport. Highly recommend this for a late flight as you have to leave villa at 10 am. Best “last day” of a holiday ever! We will definitely be back to This beautiful island.
