“Fantastic holiday in rural France”

Reviewed 29 Aug 2018

We had a lovely time during our week at The Coach House. Kadi & Kim were so friendly and gave us great hints and tips on what to see and do. The property was clean and neat and tidy and has a fabulous garden to relax in and for the kids to play. We have three little kids (all under 6) and they loved feeding Domino and Derek the donkeys over the fence. It was so nice to stay somewhere where we felt we were actually in France and not just in a big hotel/complex that could have been anywhere. We would have loved the village to have had a bakery or a few more local businesses to visit but as it turned out we ended up venturing further afield and discovered some great places nearby. We would highly recommend this as a place to go for a relaxing holiday away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Response from the owner Pleasure to host such a lovely family who were endlessly up for exploring Normandy's many delights. Derek and Domino are still be-moaning the lack of morning carrots they had come to expect from your lovely children Best wishes Kadi and Kim ( and the Donks)

“ideal for quiet rural setting situated among some pretty villages”

Reviewed 21 Aug 2018

A very pretty building with well maintained garden. House is decorated with popular french art pictures and plenty of flowers around the door and entrance. Spacious and comfortable for 4 adults and 2 children and the Donkeys next door always around to welcome you back after a day site seeing. Town of Orbec only 15 minutes away with lots of shops , places to sit out and drink coffee or wine and eat pastries. very welcoming local people. Only slight disappointment the house when closed up had an odour of mustiness and damp. adequate facilities but crockery and utensils not as clean as could be and downstairs bathroom had a leak which added to damp smell. reasonably comfortable but not a 5 star in comparison to other places of that rating. more suitable if you want a quiet fishing holiday.

Response from the owner Dear Michael Thanks for the positive review (caveats noted). We also appreciated how your wife and mother-in-law went out of their way to express to us just how much they enjoyed their stay in the cottage and appreciative of its ambience. I apologise for the damp problem that arose - it was not evident during the previous two week rental and had obviously manifested itself during your stay. Had you drawn to our attention to it it would have been rectified immediately - therefore we only became aware of it during the change-over cleaning period after you left. On investigation it seemed there was a faulty systern in the loo that was causing an overflow problem and we changed the complete unit immediately. Also taking note of your comment about the crockery and utensils, we have now installed a dishwasher so that there can be no future debate about levels cleanliness. And finally, as a fisherman myself, I'd like to defend my fellow piscators and assure you their standards are no less than anyone else's. (said with a smile :-) Best wishes to you and the family Kim and Kadi
