Description
The medieval property has two studio apartments which may be let separately or together, in the village of Collimento near L'Aquilla in Abruzzo. The downstairs apartment has a double bed plus a camp bed in the dressing room which has a large wardrobe. There is a well equipped kitchen, television with satellite dish, a freestanding wood burning stove and gas central heating/hot water. Wooden beams line the high ceiling, with thick external walls and terracotta floor tiles keeping it cool in summer. It has a small herb garden and outside seating area with stunning views down the valley, peaceful and quiet. Located at the edge of a tiny village in the mountains, twenty minutes from the ski resort of Campo Felice, there are an abundance of mountain and woodland walks. With ample parking in the village, the property is located down a steep tiny path, with the last 100 metres being made on foot. The village cheese-maker sells local produce as well as their own mozzarella, ricotta and pecorino. cheeses. There is a bar and in the next village (2K) has a very good restaurant serving typical Abruzzese fare, a grocery store, butchers and pharmacy. Approx. 90 mins drive from Roma and Pescara airports, the area has good links to the autostrada network and the national parks of Abruzzo and so makes a fabulous base for walking and exploring the region. If you are looking for peace and quit this is the place to come.
