Description from owner

Description

The Seahorses is one of two self-contained apartments that together form a traditional Victorian red brick and flint townhouse in the Sheringham Conservation Area. (completed August 2016) It has it's own private front door and there is sound insulation between it and the ground floor apartment. It's only 5 minutes walk from Sheringham's blue flag beach, shops, bars and restaurants and the train stations. it's also close to the buses that serve the coastal towns and beyond. Being in the town centre it's not far from the bustle in the height of the season, but in a location that is peaceful in the evening.

The property is newly refurbished and boasts some original Victorian features; it has character! There are stripped floorboards with rugs in the living room and bedrooms. The Lounge has a Smart TV and there is free unlimited WiFi in this property. There are books, games and beach toys available for the use of our guests. All bedrooms have a TV. It has a hand made, well equipped kitchen/diner with white glass effect worktops and table, washing machine, microwave and dishwasher. Please note the dining table can seat up to 6, 5 chairs are in the kitchen/diner and one stored in the double bedroom. If you are looking for accommodation for two families or an extended family group e.g. with grandparents who require accommodation on one level, consider renting this property with Seahorse 1, property 7489788.

All three bedrooms have TV, two with integrated DVD players. The third bed in the triple bedroom is a z-bed, which is folded away when not required

There is a high chair, travel cot, stair gate and baby bath available upon request.

Sheringham is a coastal town small enough to explore on foot; yet having everything a holidaymaker could want with a theatre, many independent shops, bars, cafe's and restaurants, museums, beach and steam train service. It has a golf course and a lovely beach. There is a swimming pool with waves a few minutes walk away too.

Buses and the rail service mean that visitors can easily visit other local and sights further afield without the need of a car. It is possible to reach Sheringham from London or Cambridge via Norwich by train. There are events throughout the year including the Viking Festival, Lobster Potty Festival, annual Carnival and 1940's weekend.

“Not suitable”

Response from the owner "We typically provide small gifts for young children and tea, coffee and milk as our complementary welcome offering. We spoke to Mr Gunner prior to his visit and he told us that his 3 children were too old for such items, so he declined them. He was going to be in the area and asked when it would be possible to check in. As she was busy first thing that morning, our housekeeper kindly left him keys so he could access the property in the morning rather than at 3pm. She spoke to him by phone and asked whether she should drop the milk round, he said it wasn't necessary. The coffee, tea and sugar were provided in the kitchen. The bathroom has a bath with a shower above it, a vanity unit, toilet, radiator towel rail, large mirror and storage cupboard, so everything you need in a bathroom. The bathroom was totally refurbished in 2016, so is contemporary and certainly not worn out. It is rectangular rather than square in dimensions, this is clear in the photo. To our knowledge this is the original size and position of the bathroom. I'm not sure quite what else was expected in a bathroom. The items in the fridge were ketchup and mayonnaise that were dated summer 2019! They were left by the previous visitor. On examining the spices and condiments in the cupboard we discovered that a single item, the ground pepper was slightly past its' best before date (not use by date), this has been replaced. The detailed to scale model boat is difficult to dust ( a feather duster may be the solution to this) and it is hard to reach the top of the high up hallway light fittings (now cleaned with the use of a step ladder), but everything else in the property was spotlessly clean! A fresh, clean standard bath and hand towel was provided to each member of this party. There are extra deep sprung memory foam topped mattresses that are too deep for standard fitted sheets so we use brushed stretch pure cotton bottom sheets, some of these are only a month old! The property has been assessed by an independent company who recommended that it is suitable for 7 people. If you look at the pictures of the lounge, there are clearly sufficient seats for 7. A three/four seater duck blue leather sofa, a two seater black leather sofa, a two seater padded seat ottoman couch with armrests and cushions designed to be sat on by two adults and an armchair. There are additionally, two black leather effect padded stools. As was discussed with the customer by phone, we have stayed ourselves several times as a friends and family group of 7 people in The Seahorses and we have all sat comfortably, together in the lounge. The photos of the kitchen/diner do show 5 chairs at the table. There are 5 chairs kept in the kitchen to enable all cupboard doors to be opened and accessed and the dishwasher to be opened with people sitting there. There is an extra dining chair in the room next to the kitchen or the two padded stools can be moved in when eating. Do look at the other reviews for this property! Do look carefully at the pictures as they are a true and accurate representation of this well equipped and cosy home from home."
