Description

Gamekeeper is located on the Portnellan Estate and offers a wonderful 4 star self catering chalet accommodation sleeping up to 6 people within 3 bedrooms, a bathroom, an open plan living, dining, kitchen area and a large fully enclosed decking to the front of the chalet.

Having recently undergone a refurbishment in an 'Alpine' theme with subtle Highland touches Gamekeeper has been designed to put you in touch with being in a timber chalet within the great outdoors. Many guests have commented how much they look forward to simply lazying around the Gamekeeper chalet or returning to a warm and cosy chalet after a full day in the outdoors. A testament to the detail and care put into the internal design, features and facilities on offer.

Apart from looking sensational with the use and subtle features of natural wood effect through to the tweeds and fabrics of the soft furnishings all contributing to the flow and connection the interior of the chalet has with the nature and biodiversity of the great outdoors which is on your doorstep. From the bone styled door handles to the light pine wood flooring. From the Scandinavian designed wood burning stove to the etched Highland scenes on the glass internal door and shower screen, we hope you will be impressed by the attention to detail.

Comprising of 3 bedrooms the configuration is a king sized double and 2 twin bedrooms all fully carpeted with light pine wall covering rising behind the beds and handmade fitted wardrobes and vanity area complete with internal sensor lighting. A holiday would not be a holiday without a good nights sleep and this has not been over looked. All beds are hotel grade, 2000 spring pocket sprung with Cashmere top covered with sumptuous duvets and pillows all covered in Egyptian Cotton bed linen.

The bathroom is fully tiled in Rainforest White with a deep composite Carron bath with overhead shower. All fittings are the premium brand Hans Grohe.

A fully fitted Pasidena styled kitchen with aluminium carcass lining and all Bosch modern appliances including built in mid height double oven and microwave, a ceramic hob and oven, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and larder fridge/freezer. Furthmore, a day in the great outdoors can lead to clothing and footwear needing dried so leading from the kitchen is a heated boot and coat cupboard.

The living layout is fully open plan with light pine wood effect flooring and a deep L shaped living room suite with arm chair. A wall mounted LCD TV with freeview SKY and Blu Ray DVD.

Not that you will need a television to watch as you can gaze through the sliding patio door and your breath will be taken away by the stunning views all around you. Gamekeeper commands a high hillside position on the Portnellan Estate with sensational views across Glen Dochart, Loch Iubhair (pronounced Ewar) and the dramatic and rugged mountains. You can be at one with nature and marvel at the scenery from the safety and comfort of a brand new fully enclosed decking and garden furniture.

Wi-Fi is available free of charge as well as Weber BBQ hire. There is even an onsite visitor centre with a small essentials shop, fresh organic meat from a farm locally for sale (perfect for a BBQ or home cooking), Lucy's ready made meals (should you not wish to cook of an evening), local information, a varied selection of board games and DVDs.

Situated in the heart of the central Highlands of Scotland with spectacular loch, glen and mountain views all around Gamekeeper's setting is magnificent where a true highland landscape awaits you and it is often complimented on the abundance of bird and wild life that can be regularly seen. It is not unusual to see the deer meandering off the hill and passing nearby the property.

The Portnellan Estate has been privately owned by the same family for nearly 40 years and offers fantastic facilities including fresh run wild salmon and trout fishing on the estate lochs and river, mountain bikes with plenty of trails on and off road for all abilities, a games room with table tennis, table football, pool table and a small gym. Canadian canoes, kayaks and rowing boats are free to use on the river and loch. Clay pigeon shooting can also be arranged.

Portnellan Estate is the perfect base for exploring Central/West Scotland with known landmarks only a short distance away. Oban 45 minutes, Stirling, Fort William and Glasgow just over 1 hour and Edinburgh a 90 min drive. Glen Coe and all it beholds is less than 40 mins drive and the bonnie shores of Loch Lomond are 20 mins by car. Other areas include the truly beautiful Glen Lyon and Loch Tay, Glen Etive, Glen Lochay and Glen Orchy all within the local area.

Whether you are looking for the adrenaline rush of adventure or lazy days on your doorstep, out and about on the many hills in the local area or exploring one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland, Portnellan Estate and Gamekeeper offers you the warmest of welcomes upon your return.

“nature and comfort.”

Reviewed 20 Jul 2018

My aunt,, my friend and I LOVED our gamekeeper chalet, with nature all around, Ben More and flowers in particular. The chalet in cosy and well-equipped: we slept so well for 10 days!! Duncan, thank you for your kindness. We really loved it and it's really perfectly located to drive in the Trossachs but also in the South of the Highlands.
