Description

Heritage listed converted Gasworks factory buildings, built in 1860's to produce and supply coal produced gas to the town of Strathalbyn. This property and its outbuildings have been fully renovated to provide a home for us, the owners in the main former factory building.

Our guests can book the Stables Cottage which as its name implies was the accommodation for horses in the 1860's. The Stables cottage has been extended and lovingly renovated for use of human guests and is perfect for that romantic getaway for two. This Cottage has a Lounge with dining area and kitchenette well equipped with four burner gas cooktop, microwave and bar fridge and coffee pod machine. A queen bedded room with ensuite spa for two please note with shower over the bath.

Getting around

A car is recommended. There are taxis and organised mini bus tours. Carriages of Occasion run horse drawn tours and The Cockle Train and Steam Ranger Railway have trips from Strathalbyn, a great way to see the scenery.

Interaction with guest

We live on site, so when you arrive we will show you to your cottage - hand you the key and the sumptuous breakfast provisions and leave you to enjoy. Some guests wave as they pass in and out of the property. Others take advantage of the hosted breakfast or wine and cheese platter. The choice is yours. As we know you will enjoy the extensive gardens, you may well find us either Mowing, pruning, or weeding. Also sharing the spaces are Jake our loveable Staffy and 4 tame chickens. Please drive slowly as they like to roam.

The cottage was lovely - plentiful supplies for breakfast and lots of birds and beautiful gardens! Very close to the epicenter of Strathalbyn.
