Description from owner

Description

The Old Brooder with lovingly restored Shepherd's Hut provides comfortable, simple and good value, stylish farm stay accommodation in five bedrooms for up to 22 guests. There are two private bedrooms (sleeping 2 in each), a restored Shepherd's Hut (sleeping 2), and two large bedrooms (sleeping 8 in each). The kitchen is well equipped to enable you to cook a feast and sit together at two long tables (or on the terrace at pub tables with a BBQ in the summer), and you can relax in the cosy upstairs sitting room on comfy sofas. Furnishings are quirky and definitely different - a mix of conventional beds and joiner-made oak bunk beds with thick comfortable mattresses, church pews for kitchen seats, local elm table and benches, maps and artwork on the walls, Moroccan goatskin lamps, Mexican wall tiles and Spanish floor tiles, 200 year old stained glass in the upstairs loo. It is centrally heated throughout. And we provide adult road bikes for guests aged over 16, with table tennis, table football, croquet and games for the garden..

Getting around

We have 22 adult road bikes for guests to borrow - slow down, enjoy the country lanes, keep your carbon footprint down and sleep well after a day's exercise! If you don't wish to walk or cycle you will need a car or a taxi from the nearest train station in Sudbury.

Interaction with guest

We provide you with lots of ideas to enjoy our farm and the local area (famous for its medieval and Tudor history) both beforehand and with leaflets, maps and activity sheets when you are here. We are deep green and into the environment here so we have lots of activities that help to keep your carbon footprint down: borrow our adult road bikes to explore the local area; walk the farm trails and check out the wildlife; play football, rounders or Frisbee on a wildflower meadow; enjoy croquet, boules or badminton in the garden with a BBQ; for families we have a farm activity pack. For schools we have programmes of activities. We welcome you at some stage around the time of your arrival, and are usually around on the farm during your stay.
