This lovely ancient cottage is in an elevated position, surrounded by beautiful, peaceful rural views on the edge of a village with a lovely church and good pub. It is close to the unspoilt Suffolk heritage coast and the towns of Aldeburgh and Framlingham, as well as the renowned concert hall at Snape Maltings. It sleeps four adults and two children comfortably.

Downstairs there's a heavily beamed, comfortable sitting room, with an open fire, TV with DVD playing facility and sound system. The dining room leads onto the sunny rear terrace and into a well equipped (NO MEAT) kitchen, with cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, sandwich maker, bread maker, deep fryer, mixers and liquidisers. All the reception rooms are double aspect with lovely views and seat six comfortably.

Also downstairs is an entrance lobby for coats and shoes, the second bedroom with comfortable full sized twin beds and the shower room with shower cubicle, WC and basin.

Upstairs the master bedroom has a comfortable five foot double bed and beautiful views towards the village, it's a large room with space for a cot. The third bedroom (next to the master bedroom), suitable for children, has two foot six twin beds with views over fields. The family bathroom with bath, WC and basin has views over the rear garden towards the farm.

Getting around

It is easier to get around by car, but cycling would be a reasonable alternative. There is a good choice of supermarkets within a four mile radius, Snape Maltings is six mile away and the coast line around Aldeburgh is 10 miles from the cottage.

Interaction with guest

I hope to meet and greet my guests but this won't always be possible. If I am unavailable to hand over the keys my friend from down the lane will be on hand. I will always be at the cottage in spirit as we have put together a lot of local information and instructions about the cottage. We love having visitors to share the benefits of the cottage with its lovely, peaceful surroundings.

“Lovely, homely cottage in the gorgeous Suffolk country side”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2022

Our family of three really enjoyed our stay in Nicki's cottage. The surrounding country side is ideal for walking and biking (OS survey maps available in the cottage - very handy). Framlingham ca… More

“spacious, quirky cottage in lovely location”

Reviewed 12 Aug 2017

This cottage is in a lovely position, to visit Aldeburgh (for famous fish and chips) and Snape Maltings (great for a rainy day). There is a lovely garden, which unfortunately we didn't get a chance to use due to the rain...we only stayed two nights. The kitchen was well kitted out. Something I hadn't realised, though should have checked...no wifi and minimal phone signal; our teenagers played lots of cards in the evening, and talked to us! Beware, there is no washing machine, which is often required after wet days of walking. Our biggest issue was lack of hot water...Nicki told us on our arrival that a tank of water heats overnight, so once it's gone it's gone, and probably enough for 4 showers. There were 5 of us staying, so one person a day didn't shower!...we didn't want to chance it. It did mean that when we all got wet during the day, there was no hot shower/bath to return to. On the plus, the cottage is spacious, and felt homely.

Response from the owner The hot water system does actually have a booster button, but it takes a good half an hour to reheat. In kitting the cottage out I felt a dishwasher was more helpful than a washing machine, there's plenty of space, outside and in, to hang wet/damp clothing. Sorry about the weather (rather out of my control), but hope you had some fun together. Best wishes, Nicki.
