Description from owner

Description

The former Gardener's Bothy of the Carnell Estates has been fully restored as a comfortable one bedroom cottage for two. The cottage sits quietly on the outer age of the historic Walled Garden with a small grassed area to the front with chairs and a BBQ. There is also ample parking.

There is a cosy sitting room, kitchen with dining area, bedroom and bathroom. The house is lovingly furnished with a mixture of antiques, contemporary art and collectables. A housekeeping service is available on request for a small supplement.

The cottage is dog friendly and we charge a supplement of £20 per visit per dog (max 2) which includes basket, bowls and extra cleaning.

There is a washer/dryer and the house is hopefully kitted out for most things you'll need during your stay. Tesco and Waitrose both deliver to the Estate for online pre-orders.

The Bothy is within 2000 acres of private Estate. We live in the main house which is approximately 500m from the Bothy.

The Herbaceous Gardens are available for your discovery. At the main house we have a tennis court and a stocked large pond that we swim and fish. These may be available depending on who's staying in the house (please ask before booking if these are important parts of your visit).

Whilst being in a very quiet and charming location, the Bothy is also a short drive from numerous top golf courses and perfect for golfers wishing to enjoy a choice of links and parkland golf. Notably, Dundonald is about 15 minutes and home to both the Scottish Open and the Ladies Open, Royal Troon, Western Gailes, Prestwick and Trump Turnberry are also easy drives.

We are 15 minutes drive from the coast at Troon. It's also easy to take a day trip by ferry to the Isle of Arran (Scotland in miniature) taking in Arran Distillery.

We are only just over 30 minutes drive from Glasgow Airport. Edinburgh is approximately 90 minutes drive and an easy day-trip.

“Perfect getaway”

Reviewed 29 Aug 2021

Had a fantastic, comfortable stay at the Wee Bothy and the grounds in which it is set are wonderful with lots to explore. It had everything we needed and more! Our dogs were made welcome too with a cosy bed, treats and their own doggy towels and bowls. You are in a perfect place to explore the local interests or just relax and watch the abundant bird life from the window! We made the most of our week and the weather definitely helped. We would highly recommend the Wee Bothy and hope to return ourselves.

I cannot recommend this cottage enough! We stayed for 3 nights and wished that we could have stayed longer. We enjoyed the beautiful gardens and also made use of the tennis court. The house was emaculate and had so many thoughtful touches that made us feel very at home. Thank you Adrienne who was a great host!
