“Perfect!!” The Goat Shed was the perfect place to spend our 10 year wedding anniversary. Lovely walks close by and friendly pubs (which welcomed our dog Busta!)...all in all a perfect place to spend a week relaxing. Highly recommend the Goat Shed for couples wanting to get away from it all.

“Peace and alpacas” We booked this property in early October without a thought for the weather, however two weeks before our arrival, the snow fell heavily in the UK. I kept in contact with the owner who assured us they would get us into the fairly remote property at least as they owned a 4x4. The plan was to arrange a Tesco home delivery on the day that we arrived, but the on-line service had stopped taking any more bookings due to the snow. So a quick shopping expedition on our way to North Yorkshire and we were excited. The place is about 1/2 mile off the main road and we found it no problem even in the dark. We were met by Kaye, the owner who soon put us at ease and after a quick run down of the cottage, explained where the local hostelry was. I had been nominated chef for the week, so a quick search round "my kitchen" put me in a great party mood. It was perfect, everything to hand, clean and well equipped. It is a farm cottage on a working smallholding with dogs, chickens, sheep and the alpacas over the fence. The property has a large comfy double bedroom and in the lounge the comfiest sofa bed I have ever slept on. It has constant hot water, a great shower and a stable door to look out into the foldyard. We spent lazy days at home, with the small TV, and plenty of books in the property it was a relaxing break. We are not walkers or ramblers but spent our time equally between "the Bay" and Whitby exploring the lovely shops, pubs and harbour. You cannot go to Whitby without buying smoked Kippers from Fortunes. you cannot visit the Bay without a couple of pints in the pub looking out to sea. We only needed assistance once in our front wheel drive car but the locals were as helpful as any you would wish to meet. Would we go again, you bet your auntie Nelly we would. Lovely cottage, Lovely people, Lovely area!

“Perfect retreat for couples” Excellent welcome on arrival, very spacious & clean. Both cottage & surrounding area absolutely first class. Will defiantly recommend to friends & family. Really good heating system & plenty of hot water. The thing we liked best was the lovely bathroom facilities. The thing we liked least was the TV was too small for the room although it worked well & had plenty of channels.

Why Robin Hoods Bay?

This small fishing village in the North York Moors is filled to bursting with folklore and history, which are portrayed in fascinating ways throughout the village for a thoroughly entertaining experience. Be sure to book your next vacation rental in Robin Hood's Bay for an unforgettable trip that everyone will love.

About Robin Hood's Bay

According to local legend, Robin Hood visited the bay only to encounter French pirates pillaging the area. He forced them to surrender and returned the loot to the villagers, who in their gratitude renamed the bay in his honor. Whilst we don't know for sure if this really happened, it makes for an exciting tale, and you can explore many tales like this around the village.

It's also part of the Dinosaur Coast, so you can enjoy the beaches and search for remnants of these creatures' pasts!

What to Do

Or if you'd like a broader look at the North Yorkshire coastline, the Old Coastguard Station has some fantastic exhibits, and lots of hands on activities.

Heather Croft offered the total package for the perfect holiday.

The owner popped in to welcome us and made sure we had everything we needed. There are lovely views over the rooftops and bay from the downstairs windows and the decking and garden provide the ideal place to relax and take in the views. The cottage is very comfortable and we couldn't have wished for more. We have already booked again for this coming year.see more

Holmedale Cottage in the heart of Robin Hoods Bay
Cosy and charming place to stay

A charming little cottage in a charming part of Robin Hoods Bay. Having spent a few days wandering around the little alleyways of Robin Hoods Bay it made me appreciate that this cottage was tucked away with no curious passers by peering in the windows! The children loved the fact that the kitchen was in a separate 'outhouse' and we didn't find it an inconvenience. The bedrooms were a good size with pleasant views and not overlooked. A couple of downsides - with 4 adults, and 3 small children, we found the living space downstairs a bit crowded and it wasn't possible for us all to sit round the table for meals (we ate out instead so no harm done!). The stairs were a bit steep for our 2 year old but with a door at he bottom of the stairs we were able to keep him away from them. We had such a great time we stayed an extra day!see more
