Description
There are not many places in the world where i would feel confident leaving home 75 minutes before the scheduled departure of an international flight not yet having filled the rental car with petrol nor printed boarding passes. And would anyone believe that I still had a 15-minute wait in the airport lounge?! What everyone would believe is that I didn't really want to depart on that flight anyway because I could have spent the day skiing or sailing (both quite possible), or lazing by the pool reading my book, totally oblivious to the proximity of the airport and the swiftness of the road as no aircraft or hum of traffic would have disturbed my peace. So as I mill around duty free I plan my next weekend; Saturday: a cycle through the forest, a bit of badminton on the lawn, lunch on the terrace, a museum visit (Picasso, Chagal, Renoir??), AND dinner at a Michelin-restaurant followed by some Jazz at the local festival. Quite manageable. And on Sunday: pool and book in the morning and then to the waterslides in ,,,, or the ropes course in Villneuve Loubet. In addition to its convenient location, La Sonine has the benefit of being surrounded by protected park lands behind and to the East and is off a dead-end road. At almost 6000m2, the neighbours are not close and thus calm and peace abound.
La Sonine is a beautiful stone villa near St. Paul de Vence, nestled in 5500 sq meters of garden and park-land. It is the ideal holiday villa – private, tranquil and typically French in style with many beautiful villages, river, beaches and activities within 10 minutes drive and all that you need provided. There are 4 double bedrooms, all en suite. Two have spacious private terraces, one goes onto the garden and pool and the 4th enjoys its own access from outside. Furniture and furnishings originate in France, China, Japan and Indonesia and have been carefully chosen to create a simple but elegant Asian/French atmosphere. Outside, the dining terrace off the kitchen seats 12 and the covered terrace off sitting room makes a lovely place for drinks and a quiet retreat from sun and pool. The stone and tile pool (4.5m x 11m) is heated and has an automatic, retractable security cover. In the basement is a large rec-room with flat-screen TV, DVD player, DVDs, books, games and sofa bed.

We are a family with 3 young children and love to spend our summers at La Sonine. While we are living in Asia, we cannot do this, so are happy to rent out the house to other families. We hope that you and your children will get as much enjoyment from tramping around the forest, swimming in the pool, making daisy chains, playing in the 'Wendy' house etc. as ours do. As tempting as it is to stay at the villa, don't miss the Fondation Maeght, the views from St Paul or Tourettes, lunch in Vence or a walk along the Promenade des Anglais. Each village is different, so don't miss them. For our kids the beach, the river on the way to Villneuve-Loubet and the tree climbing in Villneuve Loubet are essential. If you are there at the height of the season, just make sure you leave early for the beach and read our guest book for suggestions. On a practical note, shopping, doctors and hospitals couldn't be easier with 2 major supermarkets within 7 minutes and local shops on the way.

“Like something out of a fairy tale”
This was without a doubt one of the most serene, gorgeous places we have ever been to. The villa is in an ideal spot near St Paul de Vence. It is exquisitely furnished down the the last detail, and the owners and management were fantastic. The perfect blend of old world charm with modern amenities. I only wish we could have stayed longer!
