Built in 1731 by D. Diogo de Sousa Vice-Roy of Portuguese India. If you're seeking charm, comfort and tranquillity, this is the place for you!

Palácio de Vilela is surrounded by agricultural fields and forest and has an enviable situation because of its tranquillity and privacy in a region where the houses are mostly close together. The magnificence of the architecture will not let you perceive the comfort of the interior nor the cosy atmosphere of welcome given by the owner. The warm colours and the wood work, the well planned lighting and small details in a very modern approach make us feel very well in this house. The meticulous restoration has been a true labour of love for the owners, to whom Palácio de Vilela, has been home for generations.

The property is well placed for visits to a number of historic centres, like the ancient town of Guimarães with its castle which is a mere 15 minutes away, whilst the bustling city of Porto lies only 35 km away. Here you can explore the twisting and narrow streets of the Ribeira quarter, famous for its life and character, numerous monuments, or visit one of the many port wine lodges on the bank of Douro river. And why not take a boat cruise? You might prefer Vila do Conde beaches, only 25 km away, or Caldas da Saúde with its thermal waters only 10 km.

ACCOMMODATION

The numerous living areas that spread throughout the spacious interior will delight large groups and sharing families. The very well equipped kitchen has a bright and attractive breakfast room, the adjacent formal dining room conveys an air of splendour, with its high ceilings. Throughout, original features, are tastefully combined with modern conveniences to create a comfortable and immaculate interior. Pretty armchairs sit atop wooden, and tiled floors, in the light sitting rooms; modern bathrooms display borders of attractive hand painted tiles, and beautiful furniture decorate the 9 spacious bedrooms all with en suite bathroom ( 5 with double bed + 4 twin + 1 single)

On the ground level the original stone wine cellar has been tastefully converted into three comfortable, spacious adjacent drawing rooms, one of them a games room with a snooker table and cards tables.

Ground Floor:

Kitchenette/bar; 1 dining room; 2 separate toilet; 3 living rooms one of them with snooker and table cards all with access to the exterior.

1st Floor:

3 sittings rooms; dining room; very well equipped kitchen; all with direct access to the pool and the gardens. 1 toilet; Chapel of Stº António

4 bedrooms all with en-suite bathroom.

2nd Floor:

5 bedrooms all with en-suite bathroom.
