Description from owner

Description

Groves Hall is situated just two miles outside Whitby, North Yorkshire, in the beautiful and peaceful Esk Valley, Groves Hall and has a commanding view over the stunning Esk Valley and River Esk.

You have the East Wing of the house, with your own front door. It is decorated in a unique style, as we have been antique dealers for over twenty years, but it still feels like a 'home from home' according to our guests.!

The large private sitting room on the ground floor with open log fire in a Georgian fireplace, is a great place to relax and read with a glass of wine in the cosy sofas.

The large twin bedroom on the first floor with two single beds, a fabulous en suite Art Deco bathroom overlooks the garden and the window is framed with fragrant old fashioned roses.

The separate private mezzanine area is where we serve scrumptious locally sourced breakfasts overlooking Woodlands, when it is not warm enough to have breakfast outside on the terrace.

We have Freesat tv in the bedroom and Superfast Wi-Fi throughout the building. Parking is on the forecourt, for cars and motor bikes and we have secure storage for bicycles.

As we are lucky enough to be on the route of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, steam trains go past four times a day, - great for steam enthusiasts!

Built in the 1750's, it is a Grade II listed Georgian stone built property set in seven acres, with mature gardens featuring specimen trees and plants. We have 300 metres of river frontage on the Esk, from where it is possible to fish during the season for salmon and trout if you purchase a day permit from us, and have a fishing license.

The local area is wonderful for walking, cycling, fishing, painting, horse riding, bird watching, relaxing etc, with the bonus of being five minutes drive from the bustling town of Whitby, which is full of shops, bars, restaurants, Whitby Abbey etc...

The bus service to and from Whitby is twice an hour, plus there is also the railway, which runs from Whitby to Middlesbrough, through the beautiful Esk Valley.

We are a non-smoking household , and do not take pets.We offer a varied menu for breakfast,-Full English breakfast, which is locally sourced, delicious Vegetarian and Vegan breakfasts, yoghurt and fresh fruit, croissants, crepes..everything except kippers!

This is an ideal spot to unwind, as it is so peaceful, with very little passing traffic, glorious views and good Yorkshire fresh air! We do provide a desk in the bedroom, next to a power point in case you need to bring your work with you, and the Superfast Wifi ensures you do not lose connectivity.
