Description
Located in a south-facing hayfield, perched high up on the Mendip Hills and nestling below Maesbury castle, Len and Ted probably have one of the highest viewpoints in Somerset. These two shepherd’s huts have been completely hand-built by local craftsmen and enjoy staggering views of the surrounding countryside including Glastonbury Tor, the Somerset Levels, and the Blackdown and Quantock hills.
The huts are an ideal base from which to explore and enjoy this fabulous area all year round - rambling down the many footpaths, visiting Wells (the smallest cathedral city in England), walking up Glastonbury Tor, or simply relaxing in your hut all day. The peace of it all will soak right into you!
Inside, you’ll find that the huts have been furnished to the finest standard with soft lines and enamel kitchenware casting you back to a simpler time and age. You can choose to light the wood-burning stove and bring the whistle-blowing kettle to boil for a brew. However there has been no compromise on modern living and you’ll also find an integral shower and flushing toilet in both huts, and Len also has an electric cooker, fridge, central heating, and Wi-Fi. If you fancy a real retreat from modern life choose ‘Ted’, which is a Wi-Fi free zone but does have an outside kitchen!
Whichever hut you choose, you’ll find a small veranda for Al Fresco breakfast and you can admire the cast iron wheels, tin roofs and oak featherboard finishes which blend so well to the countryside. Rest in the chairs, have a picnic on the grass, and take time to read one of the many books to be found in the huts during your stay.
Unique Eco Hot Tub
Exclusively handmade, each hut has a hot tub which is perfect to share a wood-fired outdoor bathing experience, for a soak or to just unwind, whatever the weather. The stove gets the tub up to your preferred temperature quickly, whilst you pour out the fizz and chill, watching the sun go down and the stars come out.
(Logs for hot tub use are inclusive of 1 bag per night booked)

Fire is a gathering point, and the barbecue fire pits are no exception in allowing you to find your inner ways.
