We truly enjoyed our stay at Aura. The owner was very friendly and helped us orient ourselves in the neighborhood and provided great recommendations on what to do.
The house is rather sparsely furnished, but has all of the essentials for a comfortable stay, including a washing machine. We hadn't realized that washing machines were considered luxuries, but after our next two stops didn't have one, we really appreciated that Aura did. There is no dryer, but they have a nice drying rack available for use.
The bedrooms are all cheerful and comfortable. We spent most of our apartment time in the sun room/porch which was delightful. This is where you can see the Acropolis and feel a part of the local vibrant community. The street below is active and full of small shops and restaurants. We were able to walk everywhere during our stay because of the terrific location. The apartment is about a 10 minute walk from the Acropolis and all of the other amazing historical sites that are nearby. We had our choice of literally hundreds of restaurants and coffee shops within 15 minutes walking distance.
We walked to the Acropolis, Agora, Acropolis Museum, old Olympic Stadium, Temples of Apollo and Zeus, Plaka district, and more.
The apartment worked great for a family -- each bedroom has a separate bathroom, and would work well for multiple couples as well. The heating and cooling is powered through solar and geothermal -- I appreciated the nod to environmental responsibility.
I heartily recommend this location to anyone wanting to feel like they are part of the local Greek community and yet close enough to the main tourist attractions to fully immerse yourself as a tourist.
Thank you for a great vacation stay.
"Our stay at Athens Centre 3 mins stay from metro"
Left on 11/08/2016 for a stay in August 2016
To start we booked this for 3 months, and in hindsight would have cancelled had we known certain facts earlier abought the apartment. The apartment is old as is the area, and is situated in a poor refugee dominated area. Despite this, we felt quite safe. The apartment had not been cleaned properly, especially the bathroom and we needed to clean it to a descent standard, this apartment is not conducive to house 4 people comfortably. The beds were uncomfortable and not modern nor the linen. Pillows small and hard, the second bedroom is quite tight for a couple . Would suit one person only. The computer or printer did not work, thankfully we brought our own. All the air conditioners worked, and I also had to clean the filters for them to work efficiently. Kitchen functional. Had an incredible number of decorative items which dominated the apartment, so made it to cluttered, and tacky. Owners were available if needed.
The taxi driver was not one I would use again, his name evgenios.
The apartment was huge for 2 couples and had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. Large kitchen with dishwasher, nice size bedrooms, and a huge living room with separate dining room. Even had a utility room with a washer - which was great. The apartment was very clean and tastefully furnished - looked just like the pictures.
Harry, the host, was awesome and so easy to work with. His Dad let us into the apartment upon arrival and showed us how everything worked. There was a very informative booklet listing the location of nearby grocery stores, pharmacy, bakeries, and restaurants. The apartment was in a very convenient location - only 5 minute walk to a Metro station as well as to a large grocery store.
Highly recommend this apartment! Just one note, if you leave early in the morning (6 am), you need a key to open the building front door from the inside or you cannot exit.
We absolutely loved this apartment. Would recommend to any Athens vacationers. The owner greeted us when we arrived and gave us the tour of the space, he was warm, friendly and hospitable. He had local suggestions and menus ready for us. The apartment had everything we needed to enjoy Athens on a budget. It's close to markets, tourist attractions, and restaurants. Easy to get a cab, catch public transportation or one of the sight seeing buses. My husband being the techy one appreciated good WiFi and up to date technology. And best yet, it wasn't right in the middle of the tourist traps, which made it quiet and relaxing. Its a beautiful walk through the park to the Plaka district, center city and Acropolis. It was the perfect balance of tranquility and adventure.
Best place to stay in Athens!!! We stayed 6 nights at Stella’s Loft and had a fabulous time! Stella is an excellent owner- she is very quick to respond to e-mails (even though it’s a 10 hour time difference for us), she arranged for a driver to meet us at the airport to take us directly to her Loft, she welcomed us when we arrived, and she also arranged for a driver for a very early morning flight out of Athens. The Loft is exactly as pictured on the website- very clean, modern, and swanky. You can even see the Parthenon from the bedroom upstairs! The location is great too- it’s not in the super busy, touristy Plaka, but still only a 2 minute walk from the Plaka and all the main tourist attractions. This is the perfect place for a couple to spend a holiday exploring Athens. We loved our stay at Stella’s Loft, and would definitely stay there again!
