Description
A charming retreat in the island of Ortigia: is the first sensation that gives this home in olive Lane, in the heart of the Giudecca, ancient Jewish ghetto in the city of Syracuse.
The House was the subject of a thorough recovery and intervention from Earth to heaven, now stands, to the blue sky of Ortigia, just a few steps from the blue sea at the bottom of the alley and in a central position in relation to the monuments and places of interest of the island.
The finding during the restoration of a fascinating underground compartment, probably one of the oldest Jewish city baths, confirmed the role of Hebrew and hospicium suggested that, before that, of the synagogue.
The interiors are now combining a deep past and sought assistance which, showing, rather than hide, help to create an environment rich in ancient and contemporary influences.
The House is accessed via a 17th-century stone staircase to reach the large and airy living characterized-as all the first level-by a paving stone. In the living room, between the ancient 14th century walls, a long sofa and armchairs for convivial moments or rest, fireplace, stereo spread throughout the building, satellite television system.
By living, two alternatives: continue down the hallway that leads to the most private area of the House, which is also full of charm, with the bedroom and master bath or, attracted by the verticality and light, take the staircase that leads to the second level.
A spacious kitchen, characterized by the presence of a red-brick wall and complete with every equipment is at the heart of this second level, characterised by a succession of openings that make light and the skyline of Ortigia in every hour of the day.
A hallway next to access a second bedroom/study and an adjoining bathroom, also with shower, which doubles as a laundry.
From the kitchen, access to the terrace for outdoor meals or simply for convenience.
The House is a veritable triumph of light, there is space and space that does not have two or three openings and the sense of well-being becomes part of you during your stay.
Air-conditioned and heated. Wi-fi available throughout the building.
