Description
In an environment dedicated to lovers of peace and wild nature (nature reserve), Quinta da Murteira, a property of more than three hectares, is discovered at the end of a dirt road of 1.5 km. However, it is only 15 minutes drive from the city of Tavira, its lagoon (ornithological reserve) and its beautiful sandy beaches. Due to its central position in the 'Sotavento Algarvio' (Eastern part of the Algarve), it can be the starting point of a day at the beach or to discover the South of Portugal or even the nearby Andalusia (Spain is only 40 km away, Seville is 180 km away.) At 'Quinta da Murteira', we enjoy, among other things, a generous sun, singing and bird watching, hiking or ... lazing around by the pool (for the exclusive use of residents).

“Lovely”
Visited in September 2019 as a couple. A lovely secluded property where we could relax and get away from everything. The hosts were welcoming, we had a drink with them when we arrived and they gave us some fantastic tips for our time with them, despite being near by, the hosts were discrete and left us to enjoy our holiday in peace. Property had everything needed and really pretty views, the photos do not do the property justice. The pool was our favourite place to relax. The property is up a dirt track so we do not suggest a low car but driven sensibly the road is fine. A small town is short drive away with plenty of places to eat and buy any essentials. Throughly recommend a visit to the salt baths it was really fun to float and then bake in the mud. The property has a really pretty bench that we took some really nice photos from. If you want to get away for some rest and relaxation this is the perfect place. We took a video of the property too if this is beneficial to the owners.

Response from the owner Hello Will, Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice and comprehensive review of your stay "in the middle of nowhere". We are very happy that you have enjoyed your stay at Quinta da Murteira. To answer your pertinent remarks and thus to enlighten our future guests: -The dirt road is probably in the worst condition since we opened our cottage 12 years ago. The months of March and April were (after years of drough) very complicated: storms, very heavy rains, floods. This road is a public one but the town does not care. So we decided to ask a private company to improve the path (at our expense). The work should start next week (a little late for you ...!) -The oven: due to urbanistic restrictions we missed the space to place a conventional oven. Instead the cottage is equipped with a sophisticated mico-wave oven. It is therefore possible to cook pizzas or frozen dishes. -The bedding: we have traveled all over the world and have never found a bed as comfortable as ours. In the rare cases where some people find the bed in the studio too hyge, there is the possibility of sleeping in the other room where the bedding is softer.. -Pictures: All the photos that appear on the Tripadvisor website were made by a professional photographer sent by Tripadvisor. According to them, these photos are exclusive and I can not add my own photos; I may be wrong. I will inquire . -BBQ: in accordance with the law and located in a Nature Reserve (forest protection zone), BBQ is forbidden during any period of drought ... for example today with almost 30 ° and a strong wind. Instead we provide an electric grill ... less romantic but so much safer. Thank you again for your comments and we hope that our answers will help future guests to choose their most suitable holiday location. Anne and Georges
