Ubud Vacation Rentals

WE ARE ESPECIALLY INTERESTED IN LONG TERM RENTALS FROM 18 AUGUST 2023, 3 - 6 MONTHS preferred. INTERESTED? TALK TO US. CHEERS!

This exquisite colonial style home located in the artist village of Penestanan Kelod, Ubud is designed around a traditional Javanese Joglo with many traditional features and furnishings, but with all modern conveniences. The U-shaped property is built around two flowering trees (frangipani and flame tree) laden with orchids giving shade to an ornamental Koi pond at their feet. It features spacious airy living rooms, gourmet kitchen, three different dining areas, set beside a substantial swimming pool, enclosed in a lush tropical private garden, and exquisitely furnished with quality and character. The very best of Bali living.

JOGLO HOUSE

From the Joglo house five hand-carved traditional double doors open onto the Koi pond shaded by frangipani, flame tree and heliconia on one side, and onto a columned porch and spacious pool deck and garden at the front. The house is built around a four-metre solid teak dining table seating up to 12 and features a gourmet kitchen in one corner, a t.v. lounge in another, a library in a third and a spacious daybed overlooking the garden in the fourth. The Master bedroom suite is air conditioned, has a hand-carved king size four-poster bed and indoor/outdoor bathroom.

GARDEN HOUSE

The Garden House across the Koi pond, houses the main living area open on three sides to the lush tropical garden and furnished with a hand made rattan lounge suite, a carved four poster daybed, and the Garden suite bedroom, which also features a four-poster bed, indoor/outdoor bathroom, refrigerator, and air conditioning.

Beautifully lit slate stepping stones lead to the pool on one side, and on the other, to the carved and antique doors that form the entrance to whole compound.

THE BREAKFAST TERRACE

Joining the Joglo House and Garden House is a shaded private bale with ceiling fan, six-seater dining table and three-seater settee open to the Koi pond on one side and an orchid garden on the other. This terrace also houses a guest toilet.

INFINITY POOL

Completing the picture, the large and deep infinity swimming pool is overhung by tropical flowers on two sides, has a deep end over 6' and a 5' shallow end perfect for swimming, with walk-in steps and a pool-length resting step in the water for sitting and enjoying a beverage or just relaxing.

Private entrance and evening security.

English speaking staff – breakfast of fresh fruit, toast coffee/tea daily, and arrangements can be made for either a full time or part time cook; daily cleaning, etc.

Arrangements can be made with the house staff for laundry and shopping. We prefer non-smokers.

Our property captures the unique character of Balinese culture, the verdant lushness of the tropics, the cooling glimmer of sun on water all in the context of a sophisticated and modern way of living.

Airport pick-up, and drop-off, can be arranged. Email us with flight and times.

The accommodation best suits 2 couples. However the two day beds can be used for children or extra singles. Small children are discouraged as the swimming pool and koi pond are not fenced so small children would need constant supervision.

Baby sitting, car, bicycle, and motorbike hire, transportation, and tickets to cultural performances can be arranged.

Yoga and spa treatments are close by, one next door.

Response from the owner While I regret that your experience of my house did not live up to your expectations, there are a number of miss-representations in your comments that cannot go unchallenged. 1. to suggest that our modern kitchen equipped with a 4 burner gas cook-top, electric fan-forced oven, electric toaster, juicer, electric slow-cooker, food processor, Barmix, and a large number of quality pots, pan, cooking utensils, a cupboard full of herbs and spices, olive oils, pasta, canned goods, etc, is "not use-able except to make coffee" is plainly untrue. We entertain a lot, and frequently produce 4-5 course dinners for up to 14 from this kitchen. 2. "had to pay for all the food for breakfast" We offer and supply a breakfast of: individual plates of mixed fresh fruit (papaya, watermelon, oranges, mango, banana, etc.), a loaf of freshly baked bread, top quality toasted muselli, fresh yogurt, a litre of fresh milk (imported from Australia), butter (imported from N.Z.), fresh eggs, ground coffee and Nescafe, a range of local and imported teas, EVERY SINGLE DAY. The only things that guests need to pay for, are specialty items, vegan or medical dietary needs that may fall outside the above list. The majority of past reviews have specifically praised the breakfasts that we have provided over the past several years. 3. "we had to pay...$50 each to 3 staff members..." All three staff members are paid above the award wage monthly, by me, and have been with me for up to 7 years. In the 'House Guide' which I provide for all guests at check-in, explaining hours of work for staff, use of audio visual equipment, wifi password, water and electricity, and providing recommendations to restaurants, tours, etc. there is a heading "Tips: yes please!" There, I recommend not tipping on a day-to-day basis, but tips of up to Rp500,000 for exemplary service for stays over five days, and ask that the Nightwatchman not be forgotten. Tipping is obviously completely discretionary in my house, as it is everywhere in Bali, and Australia from whence you come. It is willfully misleading to claim either that breakfast was not offered each day, and also that you were in some way forced to pay each staff member $50. The rest of your comments regarding "dust" and "kitchen cleaning" are well noted, and extra supervision of staff in those areas will be willingly exercised. I rather think that in the context of your other comments however, that these issues may not honestly be so serious.
