Villa Laba Puseh, is everything you could want in a holiday vacation home! The name, which means 'Land of Vishnu, The Preserver', is located on Temple Land in the quiet village of Penestanan, on the outskirts of Ubud, the cultural hub of Bali. This location is ideal, as you can enjoy both easy access to Ubud, (20 minute walk or $3 taxi ride) but return to your peaceful and quiet villa after your excursions.
Built with your enjoyment in mind, Laba Puseh was designed by blending the artistic talents that the Balinese are known for with the natural beauty of the outdoors. The villa is a visual feast for your eyes, as Balinese architectural details have been used throughout the entire property. These details include hand-carved wooden and stone window surrounds, gorgeous hand matted bamboo ceilings, and a coy pond you walk over to reach your front door. More than 1,000 man hours of stone-carved features are artfully placed throughout the property. At night the villa, garden and pool are beautifully lit for your continued pleasure.
The villa features two bedrooms with Balinese design four poster beds and furniture. Both bedrooms are fully air conditioned, but you may choose to enjoy the cooling natural breezes and overhead fans-the choice is yours. Each bedroom has its own bath, both showcasing beautiful, stone showers set in decorative, outdoor gardens.
In addition to being adorned with beautiful Balinese hand-carved furniture, the living room area also features a fully-equipped entertainment center for your enjoyment. Included for your entertainment pleasure are a flat screen TV with USB music port, Indovision cable TV providing international programming, a DVD player with an array of both children and adult DVD selections, and an IPOD dock. There is also a small library with books about various aspects of Balinese culture.
The kitchen is fully equipped with cookware and appliances, should you wish to prepare some of your own snacks or meals. The dining room features a marbled topped table, although you may choose to sit at the bar, which is adorned with hand-carved, stone features.
The true artistic feature of the property is the swimming pool which features an amazing hand-carved sandstone surround. Water gently trickles down the wall underneath this feature and is complimented by water spouting from a replica of a temple fountain head. Next to the pool is an outdoor shower where you can rinse off. Hand woven sun beds and colorful towels complete your pool experience.
Bali is known as the Island of the Gods, so it is important to me to both respect and participate in the local spiritual customs. My family Temple and Kemara are located on the property, and offerings with beautiful baskets of flowers and rice are performed daily at the villa.
Centrally located in the village of Penestanan, Laba Puseh is set back from the main road and is surrounded by rice fields. It is a five minute walk to a variety of restaurants including organic eateries and juice bars, coffee bars and bakeries, and the wonderful local Balinese warungs of which Ibu Putu's is the most famous. For more upscale dining, Bridges Restaurant is just a few minutes away. There are also a plethora of restaurants to explore in Ubud.
Your vacation villa has access to many other activities which you may find enjoyable. Laba Puseh is directly adjacent to Eve Spa, a full treatment spa center, where you can enjoy a relaxing massage, body scrub, flower petal bath, or a selection of half or full day combination packages. A variety of yoga studios and meditation centers are just a short stroll from your front door. Both the Ubud Market and the well-known Monkey Forest Road can be easily accessed after a short taxi ride or a leisurely walk through town.
Your villa manager, Ketut Puja, is available for airport transportation and can also take you on a variety of trips including Temple and village tours. Most of the villages in the Ubud area specialize in their own handicrafts, and you can find anything from wood and stone carvings, to paintings to silver jewelry, just to name a few.
Bali offers a wide variety of activities to choose from, including scuba diving ship wrecks, elephant riding in the jungle, hiking through rice fields, or strolling through museums and art galleries. Be as active as you want or just relax by the beautiful pool and read a book....your Balinese adventure awaits you!...Read more

I've visited Bali on multiple occasions over the last 10 years but after my wife, 18-month old son, a friend, and I spent 4 nights at the villa in Penestanan, I will never bother looking for anywhere else to stay. The villa is extremely well thought out and designed to make the best use of the space with a reasonable size swimming pool and garden area for enjoying the sun. The two double bedrooms are beautifully furnished and boast exquisite outdoor bathrooms. The kitchen/dining/living area is open plan and extremely spacious even for several adults. It is clear that a tremendous amount of thought has gone in to ensuring you want for nothing and caters for your every need; in addition to the large fridge/freezer, 3-burner gas hob, flatscreen TV, DVD player, iPod dock, and wifi, it is also supplied with a toaster, juicer, coffee plunger, umbrellas, and inflatable beds for the swimming pool! Not only does the villa ooze quality, but it is also fabulously appointed in an extremely quiet neighbourhood, yet only 5 minutes walk to the well known The Bridges restaurant and Murni's warung. We all left the villa planning how soon we could return! I couldn't recommend it highly enough! Read more
Mark I am so glad that your family, friend and you enjoyed the villa so much--what wonderful comments! I have been involved in the tourism industry for the past 35 years and have tried to think of all the little "extras" that will not only make you feel special but help to make your vacation more enjoyable. I am also glad that you took advantage of some of the great restaurants within walking distance of the villa. Thank you for the review and I am looking forward to your return!

I needed a break from reality and escaped to the tranquil, peaceful and gloriously unique villa - and it exceeded all my expectations. My only negative experience was... Leaving! Oh, and realizing that others have discovered it and now I can't go in March because its already booked for the dates I'm in Bali... You won't regret going. You will fall in love. Read more
Marie, thank you for the kind words and I am glad that you enjoyed the peacefulness and tranquility of my home. Sorry I could not accommodate you in March because of a previous booking, but I do look forward to your return again in the future!

"The best place in Ubud!"

I travel to Bali frequently and have stayed in a variety of villas and hotels. This villa is the best - it has a perfect combination of Bali magic and comfy at home feeling. The villa is gorgeous, exquisite detail carvings everywhere, lovely outdoor showers, etc. - but it is also a simple and comfortable home. The location is perfect, in the calmer part of Ubud with plenty of cafe and restaurant just a few minute walk from the villa. Getting into the busy part of Ubud takes just a few minutes in a taxi or a 20 min walk. I highly recommend! Read more
Catherine thank you so much for the great comments and it is good to know that you enjoyed not only the beauty of my home but felt comfortable there also! I look forward to having you again as a guest in my home sometime in the future.

"My Favorite Villa in Penestanan, Ubud"

After visiting Ubud many times, I can confidently say that I've finally found the perfect place to stay in Bali. Villa Laba Puseh is fabulous. I still can't get over how supremely located the villa is. Laba Puseh is just off the main road in Penestanan and less than a five-minute walk to Intuitive Flow yoga studio (with Linda Mandini) and Yellow Flower Cafe, across the street from alchemy's raw food café and organic salad and juice bar, and down the street from Kue bakery and chocolate shop. There are also many local warungs in the area if you want typical (and cheap) Indonesian rice and noodle dishes; the more upscale (yet still affordable) Bridges restaurant is also nearby. Getting a taxi (car or motorbike) into Ubud for yoga, shopping, and (more) eating is quick and easy, but walking is also an option, and only takes about 25 minutes from the centrally-located Ubud market-25 minutes if you don't stop at all shops along the way! The best part of the villa is coming 'home' to the peace, quiet, and tranquility of the villa after being in bustling Ubud for the day. Because the villa is located off the main road, once you are inside, you don't hear anything: no motorbikes, no roosters, no barking dogs, nothing. Serenity at its finest. After a busy morning shopping in Ubud, my friend and I gratefully returned to the villa, had coconuts delivered to our door from Wayan's juice bar (just down the road), got $10 massages at Eve Spa (30 seconds from the villa's front door), and then jumped into the pool for a relaxing afternoon swim. Pure bliss! While there is lots to see and do in Bali, just spending time in the villa reading a book and relaxing is a great experience. From floor to ceiling, the villa's architecture and design is stunning, and it's impossible to take in all its beauty upon arrival. Even after being in the villa for one week, I noticed details in the wood and stone carvings, the furniture, and the landscaping that I hadn't previously seen. Read more
Staci, I am so glad that you and your friend enjoyed yourself at my villa! I could not agree more--the location is perfect as you are close to the hustle and bustle of Ubud, but it is great coming home to the serenity and peacefulness of Villa Laba Puseh after your excursions. I see you have found all of the great places to eat also, all within a few minutes walk of the villa gates. I look forward to your return in the future!
