Description from owner

Description

A delightful 18th century fisherman's cottage, perfect for family holidays on the North Norfolk coast. The cottage is in the perfect location, set back from the main road with a private walled garden and a 2 minute walk to the beautiful quayside and its pubs & restaurants!

Our cottage is only 100m from the sea!

Winter cosy lounge with log burner

Summer warm sunny patio garden with barbecue and dappled shade

kids playground is right outside the kitchen door

High chair & travel cot provided

The cottage is fully furnished, centrally heated and double glazed, sleeping seven people. There is a WC and washbasin on each floor. Full wi-fi broadband is available throughout the property.

The ground floor consists of a large comfortable lounge, furnished with settees, multi-fuel stove and a DVD player and TV system with 200+ channels. There is also a cloakroom with a WC. The oak beamed hallway leads to the fully fitted dining kitchen with oak table and chairs, double oven with ceramic hob, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and fridge, freezer. A rear oak door has immediate access to the children's play area.

The first floor has a large south facing king size bedroom with multi-channel TV, a second bedroom with twin beds and a bathroom with power shower, bath, washbasin and toilet.

On the second floor is a further beamed bedroom with two single beds and a sofa bed, en-suite bath & toilet, and magnificent views over the estuary.

The lounge leads out on to a private walled garden with a barbecue and seating for eight people.

Please note that due to the environmental impact of having to clean 6 sets of bedding after each stay, we have decided to no longer provide bedding or towels. We request that guests bring their own personal towels, quilt covers, pillow cases and bottom sheets. Our pricing structure has been updated to reflect this.

Harbour cottage can be rented for weekends, weeks or longer holidays. The cottage has gained the English rose three star award from the "Visit Britain" National Tourist Authority.

We allow up to two well behaved dogs, but not upstairs or on our settees please! £25 per week per dog.

Parking is just 30 Metres from the cottage on Freeman Street, plus there are two large North Norfolk district Council parks only 100m away. Tickets for these cost about £28 per week, and you can use the same ticket in any NNDC car par if you are touring

“Lack of details”

Harbour cottage is nice enough. I think it would be very useful for the description to warn that no bedding or towels are provided. I unfortunately did not find out until arrival - the owner was ver… More

Response from the owner Thank you for your review, we have noted the points you raise. We send all guests an email well in advance about details of the cottage, where to get keys, bedding to take, parking, etc. Unfortunately you did not get this Information, for which we apologise. There are clean quilt covers and pillow cases at the cottage to cover any emergencies that may arise, we called you and advised you use these on your arrival. The email does also mention the stairs to the second floor, as the cottage is over 200 years old, it does have some quirky features which are part of its originality and design. The cottage is self catering, we do take into account our guests providing their own linen and towels in the prices we set.

Response from the owner Thanks very much for your kind review. The details of provision of bedding is marked on our web page, We do take on board your comments about bedding & towels, and we made a conscious decision to reduce our prices accordingly to compensate for guests providing their own. We quite often have just two people staying in our cottage for a few days, especially in low season. As our cleaner cannot really be completely sure which beds have been used, by how many people, provision of bedding would mean a complete change of pillow cases, bottom sheets, quilt covers, and towels for all seven beds at the end of each let, whether clean or not. We feel this is not an environmentally sound way forward for our business, hence the request to clients to provide their own, we compensate for this in our pricing structure..

“Lovely weekend in Well Next the Sea”

Reviewed 27 Sep 2017

The location of cottage was brilliant by being really close to pubs and shops, the cottage was well equipped an well set out. The only downside was the limited parking.

This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on all reviews.

Response from the owner Glad you had a good time. Parking on Freeman street in Low season should not be a problem. In high season, there is the North Norfolk District Council car park just opposite the cottage on Freeman Street. A £28 weeks season ticket will allow you to park there 24/7 unlimited, as well as any other NNDC car park in Holt, Cromer, Sheringham, Hunstanton etc... So if you tour the area around the cottage your parking is covered in any NNDC car park, there are lots of them. Hope this helps, Simon.

“Great stay”

Loved the place, and will book again. Very well equipped, dog friendly place in a great location. Parking wasn't a problem for us as out of season so was able to park on double yellows, however needs considering during the high season. But don't let that put you off as this place is a winner.

“Great little cottage right by the harbour and central to all the shops”

Reviewed 24 Jul 2016

Ideal for a family, perfect location for everything you need. Is right next to the childrens play area - which is fine for small children, but can get a little noisy if you don't! Cute bedrooms, top floor great for teenagers - just watch out for the REALLY small and steep staircase. Would recommend this cottage and would definitely stay again
