Description

Cairns Cottage is situated in a wonderful position, high up, overlooking the harbour, just a few minutes walk into the centre of beautiful Whitby!

The cottage has just been renovated and is subsequently finished to an exceptionally high standard, wth all the modern amenities you would expect including free wifi, dishwasher, washer. It is set out over four floors, three of which boasting absolutely stunning views over the harbour and marina. The cottage can accommodate up to 5 guests in a stunning King size and twin/triple bedrooms.

We bought this cottage because we love the North Yorkshire Coast so much and found ourselves spending an increasing amount of time there, usually walking in the moors then finishing the day in Whitby for fish and chips by the sea! We love Whitby harbour and, so when this cottage came up for sale in 2013, we snapped it up. We hope our holidaymakers will get as much enjoyment from the area as we do.

Access to the property is up a set of steps from Church Street (the road running alongside the Harbour) and the old town is just a 2-3 minute walk away. From here you can easily access the lovely beaches.

Please note that it is not suitable for people with restricted mobility.

We tend to get around on foot as everything is so accessible from our place - coastal walks, the town, bars, chip shops - it's all within minutes of the door!

“Excellent stay”

Spotless and clean and very comfortable. Central to all amenities and great views across the harbour. Other reviews mention the number of steps up to the cottage but we knew about this at the time of booking and it wasn’t a problem for us. Would definitely book again!

Response from the owner What a shame you didn't contact us about these issues while you were on holiday so it could have been resolved for you last the time. I recall you calling for help to operate the oven (which we gave, as well as pointing you in the direction of the instruction manual which you had on your phone app). We have two bathrooms and completely bemused as to why you could only access one? There's a bathroom on both floors next to each bedroom and they can not be locked from the outside? Again, had you told us you were struggling our housekeeper could have popped in and helped if the door was perhaps jammed, though this has never happened before? I can confirm we have a working shower room with a full walk in shower and a separate bathroom with a bath and shower hose overhead just for hair washing. Again - we had no idea you had trouble operating the hot tap on the bath - we could have had a plumber round the same day had you brought this to our attention. there have been guests in since your stay and none have reported problems so it seems to have resolved itself. We have a small yard which is useful for dogs, muddy boots and hanging washing - we do not advertise this as suitable for enjoying the views - the views are best enjoyed from any of the lovely rooms in the cottage, as our other guests have commented. If you do ever have trouble when staying in people's holiday cottages in future I would strongly recommend always contacting the owners rather than simply leaving negative reviews after your stay. All of this could have been resolved so easily had we been aware as we pride ourselves on guests returning year after year!

Didn't like all the steps you had to go up to get to the cottage and with it been on 4 levels you had even more steps to go up n down but the decor was lovely and very clean everything you needed
