“Great stay, but a few points for some people”

Reviewed 14 May 2023

Firstly, the cottage us lovely, great location to relax and enjoy some great walks. Facilities are excellent and the owner is very quick to respond if you have any issues. Local eateries are very recommended. Just a few poi ts for future visitors. Please be careful when replacing the key into the outside key holder. When we arrived, we were unable to gain access to the key. Fortunately, we caught the cleaner whe gave us the side door key so problem resolved quickly. Was able to speak to Jonathan, the owner, but all was fine as inside, was the other required key for the conservatory. There is a small difference in hight between the Kitchen floor, and the enterence way. This caught my Wife and I out a few times, as we both tripped/ caught our feet. Something create a slope rather than step would be useful. If you are a bit unsteady on your feet, as we both are. Be aware of the steep and reletivly small stairs. We did struggle a bit to go up and down. However, saying all of the above, we did have a lovely time, and we inte d to visit again.

Response from the owner Thank you for your review. We very much welcome your feedback. With regards to your comments about the step in the kitchen and the stairs, Maytime Cottage is over 150 years old and it is typical of a property of that vintage. There is a paragraph in the 'about the property' section of our listing which describes the features of the cottage and suggests that anybody who needs further access information contacts us to ascertain whether it is suitable for their needs. I'm very glad though, that overall you enjoyed your stay, and would consider visiting again.

“Beautiful & relaxing”

Reviewed 11 Apr 2023

Just got back from a week at Maytime Cottage. What a beautiful place set in gorgeous countryside. We had been given all the information we needed from the owner before arrival so everything went very smoothly. The cottage is lovely with everything you could want to make your holiday chilled supplied for you from the owner. Staying here we visited the whole Island, and what a beautiful Island it is. We will miss those views and the stars at night. Can't wait to return.

“Beautiful cottage”

Reviewed 19 Sep 2021

Maytime is a beautiful very big and spacious cottage. Enclosed garden is safe for a dog and great place to relax. Owners are easy to contact and respond immediately if there are any issues. The place could maybe be a bit cleaner but it's definitely worth recommending and we'll book our stay there again.

Response from the owner Thanks very much for your review. Could you drop me a line to let me know what specifically wasn't as clean as you would have hoped? We are keen to make sure everything is as clean as possible for each party, so it would be very useful to know what wasn't up to scratch.

“Comfortable, spacious, pet friendly cottage in beautiful location.”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2019

Plenty of room to spread out. Large enclosed garden. Beautiful countryside views. Decor was a little tired and dated, but this is the Isle of Wight! If it was more modern it may have detracted from the cottage charm. As with any where in the Isle of Wight you are close to lots of attractions. Great time had by all the family.

Response from the owner Thank you for your comments, and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, despite experiencing some un-summery weather during your week! Sorry you found the decor not up to expectations, but I'd like to reassure you that we do regularly have the cottage redecorated. Last winter we had 2 downstairs rooms repainted, all new carpets downstairs, as well as 2 new sofas. Later this Autumn/Winter we will be re-carpeting and repainting the upstairs.
