1 mile from Acadia National Park Schoodic Point section, hiking & biking trails! Walk to ocean, restaurants, shops, groceries. Frazer Point oceanside picnic grounds only 2 mi. View of Cadillac Mountain and sunsets from private back deck. CLEAN, comfortable (but not chic!) 3 bdrm, 1.5 baths. 1/2 mile from Bar Harbor ferry landing. Kayak, bicycle rentals 1/4 mi. 36 miles by car from the Mount Desert Island section of Acadia National Park. During summer, take the passenger ferry to Bar Harbor, 40 minutes across Frenchman Bay.
Fully equipped for long or short stays. 1200 sq. ft home. Full-size appliances, fully equipped kitchen. Modest (not chic) but comfortable, clean, we;;-equipped.
TVs in living room and the 2 queen bedrooms. Room darkening shades in bedrms. Ceiling fans in the 2 queen bedrooms. Table fans in closets.
Wifi and cable tv. A Blink security camera monitors the front, exterior of the house only. No interior space is visible to the camera.
NONSMOKING. NO PETS. Clean, cozy, convenient, in quiet, private Ocean Heights neighborhood, but right in the village. Unlike many area rental homes, we are not on busy Rt.186 (aka Main Street).
Maximum occupancy is 6 humans of any age (any combination of children and adults to equal no more than 6), except one additional infant may be added to the 6 if sleeping in the portable crib (bring your crib sheet).
Lobster co-op and seafood market 1/2 mile away, or choose area restaurants for no-fuss enjoyment of local seafood. The nearby LobSTORe and Winter Harbor's co-op sell and will cook your lobsters for you to bring back to the house!
Our Ocean Heights community has a private playscape and is close to arts events, groceries, kayak and bike rentals, boat launch, 5&10 general store, library. Farmer's Market (summer), art galleries, eagles. In the heart of Acadia National Park region. Only 1/2 mile from the seasonal, passenger ferry to Bar Harbor.

This charming Maine vacation rental home is in quaint Winter Harbor on the Schoodic Peninsula, site of the breathtaking Schoodic Point section of Acadia National Park, See our many photos for the Winter Harbor post card with map and arrow showing our exact location. The home is on a quiet cul de sac neighborhood with private deck (overlooking a lovely meadow and Cadillac Mountain), where you can sit unobserved in your pjs with morning coffee, or later with a glass of wine watching stunning sunsets, songbirds, gulls and even eagles & osprey flying about, but be within easy stroll of the village and seasonal restaurants.
Schoodic Acadia is considered by many the most dramatic, accessible scenery and surf in Acadia National Park. And you enter less than a mile from the house! Great bicycling, hiking, kayaking, or touring by car.
Grindstone Neck Golf less than a mile away. Jones Pond freshwater swimming/picnic/boating park is 7 miles away with free admission. Bike & kayak rentals less than 1/2 mile.The Schoodic Loop road winds its way through marshes, stunning views, ocean coves & harbors, past views of the Winter Harbor Mark Island lighthouse, pine topped islands, to famous Schoodic Point with dramatic surf and impressive granite outcroppings.We'll tell you about a spot where there is so little light pollution that you'll see a night sky you may never have seen before, and perhaps one of the Park's resident porcupines!
Within 2 miles, inside Acadia National Park, is Frazer Point oceanside picnic area and fishing pier, complete with tidal pools at low tide, a great place for kids to play and for adults to relax with a good book (if you can concentrate on reading while surrounded by indescribable beauty). Gather around a crackling fire roasting hot dogs and marshmallows, creating indelible memories. Clean, seasonal, park-maintained restrooms mean you can stay all day and into the evening, beyond the time when the lobster boats buzz back into the harbor across the bay, perhaps carrying tonight's dinner.
After a busy day enjoying nature and savoring meals ranging from lobster shack settings to lovely restaurants, slip into a cozy queen size bed made up with cotton linens to rest for the next exhilarating day. Start each day breathing in the crisp Maine mornings on your private deck, with a steaming cup of coffee brewed in the fully equipped kitchen, gazing at the top of Mount Desert Island: Cadillac Mountain, lit by the morning sun or during evening, framed by gorgeous sunsets.
Birch and vinyl flooring and no carpeting, cuts down on allergens for those who are sensitive. Everyone who's come here has loved the home, the location, the area and the restaurants. Guests tell us that everything is just as described in our listing. They love the deck and the view!
We're a former teacher and school principal who fell in love with the area and enjoy sharing it with visitors. We take great pride in providing affordable, competent, considerate, cheerful service to our guests. We want to help you make the most of your precious vacation time in our duplex home.

Fully equipped for short or long stays. We provide everything from coffee filters to Kleenex tissues. If you're driving in from home, we ask that you bring your own towels.

You mentioned my favorite thing about the house: the view from the back deck...the mountain view is ever-changing, with fog sometimes concealing the base, at other times, the peak. We've watched eagles, gulls and osprey cavort over the open fields behind the house. And, as you probably saw, the sunsets can be a stunning backdrop to a relaxing evening of relaxation on the deck after a busy day in the Park. Thank you for your kind comments. I think we'll find a way to provide a 2nd emergency key in a lockbox somewhere outside in case anyone else encounters the problem of locking all keys and phones inside the home.
