STEP BACK IN TIME
Just a few minutes from the modern beach resorts of Maleme and Platanias, step back in time as you turn into the meandering lane that leads to the picturesque hamlet of Metochi, with a history dating back to the 1700’s, when Crete was still under Turkish rule. The tiny hamlet is laced with evocative stone walls surrounding centuries old buildings built in weathered limestone, with vine covered pergolas and lush gardens overflowing with jasmine and roses. It takes little imagination to evoke an atmosphere of yesteryear, whilst enjoying all the comforts of a relaxing luxury holiday.
Our two villas, "Laina"and "Sofas" are both listed buildings, entirely renovated and sympathetically restored to a level of luxury appreciated by the discerning traveler, seeking comfort in an environment which only an ancient building can provide. Each Villa is totally independent, set within its own spacious and private stone walled courtyard garden, each with its private pool, with parking for both villas, guaranteeing a relax staying and a prefect base for discovering Crete’s lovely beaches.
Our Villa Laina is the perfect place where a large family or group of friends can enjoy a wonderful holiday. Open the wooden picket gate and step into the delightful stone paved courtyard. The picturesque garden is just made for chilling out and soaking up the sun. The ancient courtyard flagstones, the lush foliage and sweet smelling flowers, combine to create a wonderful private area to swim, sun bathe, enjoy a cool drink or relish the mouth watering aroma of food being cooked on the outside barbecue.
Step inside Villa Laina and you’ve stepped back in time. See the graceful stone arch leading the eye from the breakfast kitchen into the lounge with its original Cretan ‘banquettes’ set along the stone wall, and the beamed wooden ceiling – yet there are also modern features to provide the level of luxury you expect to find on a holiday such as a satellite 40” LCD flat screen TV – and a luxurious spa bath.
Upstairs there is a huge roof terrace furnished with loungers, chairs and table where you can sit, relax and drink in the amazing sea and mountain views.
Villa Laina has four bedrooms, sleeps 8 adults, perfectly furnished for ultimate comfort, designed to reflect traditional Cretan design.
