We stayed in Sandhills House for 3 nights and it was the best holiday home we've ever stayed in. Great location, very clean, cosy, super showers, all mod cons and very, very comfortable beds! Nuala has developed an amazing holiday retreat with tons of information at hand. Nothing is overlooked, there's even a needle and thread! The walks are amazing with Bruno the loving collie, leading the way. Within a 5 minute walk is the amazing Doughmore beach. 35 minutes walk to the golf club with the wild atlantic waves for company and hardly another soul in sight. A coffee or a pint in Darby's bar and you're well set up for the return walk along the beach. Sheer bliss. We'll be back! Thanks Nuala and family, and of course Bruno!

We had a group of 4 stay here at Sandhills towards the end of our trip. We stayed for 3 nights and it was the best place we stayed at thru out the trip. Good location! 45 minute drive to aran Islands,Cliffs of Moher and the Burren National Park. Good shopping with decent size towns near by. Good food just a couple minutes drive. Nuala does a great job. Very clean and organized and has tons of information at our fingertips. You just cannot beat this place with any other when you compare the house, location, hospitality and the kindness. Also, the private little 5 minute walk to beach and the beach walk was fabulous. When we come back to Ireland our trip planning will be a lot easier knowing where we are staying! Thanks Nuala and family and of course Bruno!

We never rent before so a great house for our vacation. The house was very good furnished. All the items were looking nearly new.
But what us impressed most was the extremly friendly and helpfully ownerin of the house. When we arrived in the evening she had prepared a basket with bread, butter and marmelade. Before our trip we got emails with perfect description concerning the way. When I had a question by email I got allways very fast an answer with all the information we needed.
We could find in the house many documents which were very helpful (like address of a doctor, maps with recommendation for some trips, time table for church, ...). We never had a so well prepared house before.
It is clear for us that if we will go in the next years again to Irland we will stay at Sandhills House again!Response from Nuala Shanahan - 04/09/2013

My family and I stayed at Sandhills House over a week in June and I could not have been more satisfied with the property, location and attention paid by our host, Nuala Shanahan. Firstly, the cottage and main house are located just above Doughmore Beach with private access to the beach. The garden and house look out across the dunes (Doonbeg golf course) and fields which make up a pristine C. Clare coastal location. The cottage itself was immaculate with new appliances with outstanding views in all directions. Cozy and very comfortable. Our young children loved playing in the garden with the wooden climber and trampoline- and we all enjoyed being able to walk down to the stunning Doughmore Beach. For a golfer, the location couldn't be better staring across at the outer holes of Doonbeg and just down the road from Lahinch. This is an idyllic and wonderful place, we will be returning very soon.

We had a fantastic week an sandhills house. More than enough place for three adults and theree kids, double it - there will be enough place either. Don't bring anything but your food with you, there 's all you need for living.
The house and the garden are so beautifull, the furniture is in good shape. You can contact the owner at any times and problems will be solved as soon as possible.
We had some trips to the beach (five minutes to walk) and the dairy farm (four minutes to go), the kids (aged 03, 04, 07 years) had so much fun there.
The owners dog, Bruno, is very kind too and escorted us at our trips to the beach :-) -

Left on 08/31/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Myself, my partner and son stayed here for a week in august with our dog. Dogs are not allowed in the house which is very understandable but Nuala did accommodate us by allowing us to bring him and giving us the use of the garage for him at night time. Although as it turned out he had no interest in sleeping in the garage and stayed out all night playing instead :). The house's location is amazing, right beside the beach which was a huge factor for me when booking the house. It meant I could take myself off down there for a stroll anytime without worrying about getting into a car to do so. The house is equipped with just about everything you could possibly need on holidays and even a little bit extra! Nuala was available to answer any questions when needed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it to people, in fact we'll probably be back ourselves at some stage.

I recently spent a week at Sandhills House and I found it to be an excellent Holiday Home. The accomodation is very clean and modern. It is the ideal holiday home for couples as well as for families. The location is brilliant for touring around west Clare, and there is a beautiful beach only 5 mins away. The only minor fault I found is that the nearby Village of Doonbeg does not have a good supermarket and you will need to travel to Kilrush (about 1/2 hours drive by car_) to find a good selection of Supermarkets.

We have stayed in the sand hills for three years in a row for a fortnight and have loved the house and the area. The house is big and bright and the kitchen is up to date. The beach is a five minute walk away and is a lovely beach for walking or sunbathing. Miltown Malabay is twenty minutes up the road and Doonbeg is ten minutes. The people are friendly and helpful, the views magnificent.Loads of activities nearby for every one to do The ideal place to unwind and de-stress. Will be returning again

Have stayed at Sandhills three times, love the peacefulness and close proximity to the beach. There is easy access to other towns in the county. Great views from all parts of the house. House is lovely, all amenities included. Amenities for children there too. The family who own the house are very helpful, we never had any problems, and they were always so welcoming. The beach was the best as you can walk it everyday.

Sandhills House was recommended to us by friends who had stayed there while attending a function in the Doonbeg Golf Course. House is situated just beside the Golf Course. What an a amazing house! The house is furnished to an exceptionally high standard. The kitchen has a very high spec, dishwasher, big fridge-freezer, coffee-maker, good quality delph, glassware, saucepans and cutlery. Tea bags, coffee and washing and dishwasher powder were supplied so no worries about having to bring the contents of my kitchen on holidays! I loved using the cooker. The oil-fired radiators heat the house easily and quickly and good insulation keeps the house warm long after the heat is switched off. The solar panels provide steady hot water for showers and baths. The house has a really good lighting plan suitable for all needs - reading, watching television, dining or playing board games with the children. The bedrooms. all en-suite, are finished to an extremely high standard, beautiful bedding. The house has a soothing comforting co-ordinated cololur scheme. No need to bring bikes or books or boardgames or sand shovels and pails to Sandhills House- Nuala supplies them all. All you have to do is bring yourself! The only problem we encountered was having to share the LazyBoy and the remote control for the flatscreened telly!!! The house is ideal for couples, individual tourists or for families. It's perfect for a quiet week-end or as a base for golfing, exploring the West Clare area or as accommodation for attending a wedding. I can't wait to return to Sandhills House!

As it has been almost a year since we visited Sandhill's House, I can honestly say we remember it fondly everyday. The kids enjoyed every minute. They were busy at surf camp during the day and very much enjoyed the beach in the evening. The house was so incredibly comfortable. It is impeccably clean and a treat to relax in after a great day of enjoying the sights. The setting with it's views of the Doonbeg Golf Course, ocean and farms is just beautiful.
The owners could not be more organized or friendly. We appreciated everything their home had to offer us. We are all hoping to return and do it again at Sandhill's House very soon.

We stayed at Sandhills House while attending a wedding at the Doonbeg Golf Club. The location was perfect as Sandhills House actually overlooks the golf course. The house itself is bright, spacious and very nicely decorated. It is extremely comfortable and it felt like 'home from home'. The kitchen was very well stocked, we had everything we needed. It is also extremely close to the most magnificent beach. There were 3 couples in our party and we had two very large bedrooms upstairs, one with a nice view over the golf course and the sandhills, both ensuite and another bedroom downstairs. I would highly recommend this house. We had a wonderful weekend here and Nuala couldn't have been more helpful.
