“So much space, so much wood!” The title says it all. Good modern fittings, contemporary styling. Perfect for our group of 6 (including 2 young children). A great place to come back to in the evening. And we had good weather! (August, swimming in the sea...). While the cottage isn't close to amenities, it is well placed to explore the area - centrally placed for activities, beaches, walks. There's loads to do. My only gripe - it would be nice if the back yard was a garden instead. A lawn at least...

“wonderful” We absolutely loved this house for the week that we were there! If we ever came back we would stay there even longer. It was a great location near the bottom of Mt. Carrantoule and near Killarny and had every convenience, was new and modern and the yard was beautiful with fresh blackberries we ate for breakfast (in the fall).

About Killarney

The emerald green beauty, quaint architecture and quintessentially Irish atmosphere of Killarney have been attracting visitors for centuries. As a result, local establishments have come to embrace travelers with open arms, and the lakes, forests and waterfalls of Killarney National Park have long since been placed under protection to preserve their natural beauty.

Come here to wander the winding roads and see the preserved relics of a time gone by. Visit the local estate and castle of Killarney Park. See quaint historic graveyards and churches still frequented by local residents. Explore the narrow side streets, craft shops and busy markets of Killarney town.

At night, after a long day of sightseeing, watch the sunset and head to the nearest local restaurant or pub. The food here is traditional and the energy is friendly and lively. No matter what you decide to do here, you'll be sure to meet some new friends and make some lasting memories.

Here are a few additional suggestions of things to do during your visit:

  • Visit the Muckross House: This preserved 19th century mansion and gardens lie in a very picturesque area. While you're here, visit the remains of Muckross Abbey, just a mile or so up the road.
  • Stroll through Killarney National Park: Hike or bike the pathways of the park, take a boat to Innisfallen Island, look for red deer, or visit the ancient bronze mines.
  • Visit Ross Castle: Explore the corridors of this 15th century castle. The castle, its history and its resident ghost draws visitors to Killarney Park every year.
  • Take a horse drawn carriage ride: This is another quaint and charming way to experience the beautiful landscape of Killarney National Park.
  • Visit the Muckross Traditional Farms: Come to this historic working farmstead and take a step back in time. Learn how to bake bread, make fresh butter and see various seasonal farm tasks taking place.
  • See St. Mary's Cathedral: This church was built on the western end of New Street in Killarney Town around 1850 and is a classic example of Ireland's neo-gothic architecture.

During any season of the year, you'll have no trouble finding a perfect vacation rental in or around Killarney. Rent a charming condo overlooking the streets of Killarney Town if you'd like to be close to the pubs and live music venues or book a cabin in the woods if you prefer to be closer to the Killarney National Park. While you're visiting Killarney, you may want to take day trips to explore the quaint nearby towns of Barraduff and Rathmore.

KISSANE'S COTTAGE, detached cottage with open fire, woodburning stove, and
Perfect House for a stay in the country

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Kissane's Cottage. It is a beautiful, well-maintained home, with everything you need to enjoy your vacation. There is a nice yard in the front for children to play on. The road leading to the cottage is narrow and winding...you wouldn't want to walk on it. However you can explore the fields behind the home, as they are owned by the homeowner. A walk to the top provides a lovely view of the surrounding countryside. All in all, an economical option for a well-equipped home in the Killarney area. It's a bit of a drive to get to Killarney and the national park, but we thought it was worth it. The home owner is very helpful with anything you may need during your stay.see more

Accommodations were fabulous!

We had such an amazing stay at John King's home. John was the consummate "Inn Keeper". The home was immaculate, appliances were excellent and the location was perfect. The neighborhood was quiet and homes were well groomed as well. We would stay there again without hesitation. … see more

Wonderful Stay- Beautiful View of the Mountains

We had a wonderful stay and the kids loved the two Donkeys.House very well equipped and the View of the mountains was spectacular. The owner was great and was right there if we needed him and he even gave the kids a Donkey ride on his Donkey drawn cart. Great location just a few miles outside of Killarney and an easy jump off point for that whole region. The only issue was there is very low water pressure in both showers other than that a great vacation.see more
