Garveys Holiday Cottage

Dingle cottage

3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“A wonderful place to stay in” Garveys Holiday Cottage is a great place to stay in for a company of travellers, especially if you are interested in active tourism. The cottage has a central position in the gaeltacht, so that the distances from Dingle and from Dunquin are practically equal. It's absolutely ideal if you travel by car or by bike. If not, you just have to call a taxi from Dingle, where buses arrive. As a matter of fact, there's a shop in Ventry village, and that's very close. There are quite a lot of things to do around: boat trips to the Blasket islands, horse riding, trekking, wind surfing, even swimming, which is allowed in special places (in case you don't mind the temperature). If you are interested in Early Irish history, there are lots of sights around and also a small museum in some 100 metres. Anyway, you can get a full account of activities in the cottage. The cottage itself is tidy and has all the amenities one may need (including washing machine and dishwasher) - I don't rememder lacking something for the kitchen and the bathrooms were fully eqipped. And, last but not least, the hosts - Mr. and Mrs. Garvey - are very friendly and always ready to help if their help is needed. Those two weeks that my friends and I stayed there were a wonderful time, really!

“The warmest welcome.” We crossed from England to Ireland, docking at 6pm. We had a 2 and a half hour drive ahead of us, but the directions were spot-on. Easy, traffic free roads. We arrived at the village at about 8.30pm, and the lady who owns The Dispensary was waiting outside to greet us. There are no shops in the tiny village of Inch, so she'd left us provisions for supper and breakfast, at no extra charge. Home made bread and jam, sausages, bacon, tea, juice. Too much to mention. The nearest shops, pubs etc are about 4 miles away in a busy village. And a more major town is a seaside town called Youghal, just 7 miles from our cottage. The Dispensary is the best equipped holiday place we've ever stayed in. Truely a home from home. Even foil, clingfilm, all your linen including towels and bedding. Outside there is a brand new shed which is a fully functioning utility room. Washing machine, ironing board, clothes airer. The owners are not intrusive, but you are welcome to knock on their door for any directions and advice. They really enjoy their letting project. This holiday is a perfect retreat for anyone wanting peace and tranquility in and idyllic setting. We went there as a base to sight-see around southern Ireland. We loved it, but some of the journeys were epic - for instance from Inch to Killarney was a 2 and a half hour drive, before you even start on the Ring of Kerry. But there were plenty of more local sights - Cork, Blarney Castle, Cobh and many beautiful seaside towns. Well worth a visit is The Mahon Falls with it's Magic and magnetic road - look at it on Youtube. This holiday let, The Dispensary at Inch, was perfect for us. More than perfect. I can't remember what price guide it was given, but I know that at the time I believed that it had been underrated.

“Breathtaking” Four adults wanting to have a magical holiday couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. We enjoyed the opportunity to cook our own meals, have all the conveniences of home and enjoy the beach and country surroundings. Both Linda and Eileen were very welcoming and offered us the opportunity to feel completely at home in this self contained cottage. The cottage was comfortable and very clean. The view was breathtaking and the village of Cloghane/Brandon was peaceful in its surroundings yet active in its daily routine. There are many lovely surrounding villages, but you need to have access to transportation in order to visit them easily. Brandon Mountain Cottage is definitely a place to relax, enjoy the surroundings and meet friendly local people. It is on our list to return again.

No. 3 Suantra cottages

Dingle cottage

3 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 5

“Cozy cottage stay” Staying at Suantra Cottages is an amazing way to explore the Dingle Peninsula. Not only is the cottage in a beautiful setting to easy access, but it is well stocked. We had stayed at some other cottage/apartment places during our stay that were lacking in most kitchen utensils and cooking pots/pans. We found everything we needed already in the kitchen when we arrived. Also, Phil is an amazing landlady. She forgot to leave us some firewood and peat, but she came over, taught us how to build a good fire and we had a grand conversation with her. If you plan on staying on the peninsula for more than two days, definitely try Suantra Cottages.

“Great house and hospitality for awesome vacation!!” We stayed for a week in late February and had a fantastic time in Ireland. This house is the perfect location for touring the Irish countryside, Ring of Kerry, and Dingle Peninsula. We also visited the Cliffs of Moher, Blarney Castle, and several other locations in the area. The home was well equipped with full kitchen, beds, and linens. It was like coming home after a day of touring. Our rental lady greeted us with treats and was a pleasure to talk to and helped with things like grocery stores in the local area. Our kids loved looking out the windows at the sheep and ocean. It was a really pretty setting and would definitely stay again.

“Great place to stay for families!” This was our first summer holiday with our 2 year old son and our hosts provided us with a cot and a high chair for him. We were happy to find that the place was safe (sturdy banister, switches for plugs and oven, boilers in separate rooms) for a - supervised - small child and can recommend it without reserve for families (Being only in three, we used of course not all rooms). The cottage is located in a beautiful spot and we really enjoyed the clean, breezy air and the great views of both the seaside and the surrounding mountains.

“A lovely retreat” We were a family of 6 adults travelling together and Glen cottage was a wonderful place to stay: the cottage was spacious and clean with everything we needed for a relaxing stay and the hillside views were lovely. The host was excellent; friendly, helpful, easy to contact and she was flexible with arrangements for checking in and out. The cottage is located about a 5 to 10 minute drive out of town so a car is recommended. We enjoyed our time in Dingle and in Glen Cottage. Thanks!!

Stunning Luxury Beachside Home with Spectacular Views of Ocean and Dingle Bay!
Spacious comfortable and great views

We stayed as a group of 10 people (6 adults 4 kids), kids stayed upstairs and adults downstairs which worked out very well. The house had plenty of room for all of us. There is a nice short walk down to the beach but climbing down from the road requires some sure footing. Dingle village is a short drive away and Taxi's weren't a problem even over the busy Easter Weekend. The house is warm and has a nice outdoor area. As a large group we found the 10am check-out put us under a lot of pressure considering the beds had to be stripped, and the check out instructions quite onerous.see more

Super house, fantastic location

A group of 6 adults stayed here for the long weekend. House was superb, clean, well furnished, comfortable beds and in a great location. Don't miss staying in this gem of a house. Location was great. Beach a 5 min walk and 2 local pubs 2km. We will definitely go back. … see more

Clean, spacious, safe for kids, stunning view of Ventry harbor, lots nearby but peaceful

This was one of the best rentals I've ever stayed in and I would recommend it without hesitation for a summer or off-season visit. We were 3 couples with a 3 year old and 7 month old infant. The landlady Breda was extremely helpful and made sure we had everything we needed for ourselves and especially, for the kids (highchair, crib, pack n play, even kids blankets and changing pads). There are 5 really comfortable bedrooms, 3 of them with stunning views of Ventry Harbor. Each room has lots of drawers, space for hanging clothes etc. One of the rooms is ensuite. 2 other bathrooms off the main hallway (one with a tub). Large sitting room with a comfortable chair for everyone and a coal/wood fireplace. Nice artwork on the walls. Parents might note that there weren't really any fragile furnishings that a toddler could wreck. Bedding, towels provided. No need to bring anything for the kitchen as all essentials were there. WIFI was great to have. There's cable TV but we didn't really watch it. The grounds of the house are very well maintained. The back area is concrete and we had plenty of room for 3 cars. Large front lawn was terrific safe play place for our toddler to burn off energy (gates can be closed). There's a basketball hoop (with basketball!) and a charcoal grill. Nice garage/shed for storing strollers, bikes and any wet gear. Outside table and chairs (overlooking the bay) where we sat on sunny evenings. Breda's house is 5 minutes walk down to the village where there was a small but very well-stocked shop/post office, family-run pub (with outside seating looking on to the bay), and fantastic little restaurant (the Skipper) serving fresh local seafood (some non-seafood options). Ventry strand is one of the most spectacular beaches in Ireland, perfect for walks. There's also a great old pier that people were fishing from. Breda's house is on a quiet road (safe for walking with strollers) where sometimes the only sound was the buzzing bees in the hedges. We hired bikes for a week (bike shop in Dingle). Lovely scenic rides, but very hilly! Lots to do nearby. Dingle is just 4 or so miles away and it was nice to go there for a bit of hustle and bustle (great restaurants) but mostly we were happy to be a little bit away from all the tourists. Staying in Ventry makes you pity all the hordes blazing through on tour buses. We stayed for 2 magical weeks and were so sad to leave...you will be too.see more

Fantastic house with great host

Rented the place for a few days over new years with some friends and it couldn't have been better. Veronica is a super friendly host who even made us fresh scones for our arrival. The open fire was fantastic in the evenings. So many beautiful places to visit in the area and dingle has lots of restaurants and pubs . Highly recommend. see more
