The flat is in the thick of things - located just a short walk from Edinburgh Castle, a few flights of stairs from Princes Street Gardens (there are a lot of stairs in Edinburgh, which adds to its charm), and close to restaurants and bars. The flat is very nicely furnished and equipped, has a real charm of its own, and we'll definitely use it next time we're in Edinburgh as it was cheaper and far nicer than staying in a hotel. The owner (Dave) is also great, and he let us check into the flat far earlier than was stated, which got our stay off to a great start.

Situated just off the Royal Mile the apartment is ideally situated for exploring the Old Town. Dave was great, rundown of the apartment and left us to it. The pictures on the site are a true reflection of the property. Would definitely stay there again on a return visit.

This apartment was absolutely perfect. It was in the heart of Edinburgh and a 5 minute walk to the castle. We loved the location and the apartment itself was very stylish and clean. We would definitely stay here again and encourage others to stay here as well. There was only one disadvantage and that was a 4 flight climb for our Dad, otherwise perfect.

Chicago, ILPerfect Location - great value
Left on 04/15/2012 for a stay in March 2012
If you want to be within walking distance of all of Edinburgh's historic attractions, this is a great choice. It is literally half a block from the Royal Mile. We walked to the castle, Holyrood palace, the Scott Monument, etc. The airLink bus from the airportwill drop you off at Waverly Rail Station and then it is a short walk up the hill, no need to rent car or get a cab. My husband and I stayed with our 16 year-old son and it was nice for him to have his own room and a living room, instead of cramming into a hotel room. Great value for the price, also. We were very satisfied and would highly recommend. The only two cautions I would add are 1) that you need to be OK with going up the stairs (there is no elevator) and 2) this is a city setting and there is noise from the traffic and other Edinburgh visitors having a good time.

Brilliant location for a short stay - emtres from Cockburn Street/Grassmarket/Castle etc. Apartment was laid out and furnished really well. Really spacious and comfortable. The only quible is in the standard of the kitchen - utensils, glassware, crockery, pans - lots of broken, chipped items. Aside from that highly recommended.

We were delighted with this apartment, nicely decorated and comfortable right in the middle of the older part of Edinburgh. Our three days in the apartment were a delight, the number of stairs and no elevator being the only drawback. Nonetheless, we very much enjoyed our stay here.

This apartment is located just off the Royal Mile and just around the corner from the castle. We did not expect such a perfect location. Dave met us - actually he had to run after the very lost Canadians on the street. Dave is very friendly and helpful. The accommocation was very clean and comfortable. We even got to finally enjoy walking up the three flights of stone steps!! I would highly recommend this apartment in Edinburgh.

In a large part due to the wonderful accommodations we had a super time while in Edinburgh. 13 Bank Street is literally around the corner from the Royal Mile and the castle and it made it so easy to go sightseeing but then stop in for a little downtime. We would definitely recommend this flat to anyone we know that might be going to Edinburgh.

Left on 11/01/2010 for a stay in October 2010
Located just off the Royal Mile the location could not have been more central although with no double glazing this did mean there was some traffice noise. Standard of accommodation was very good, spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. Entrance to the flat is via an unkempt stairway but don't let this put you off, unless you have small children or trouble with stairs. All in all highly reccommend for a short break in Edinburgh but also for a longer stay if time permits.

Left on 10/31/2010 for a stay in October 2010
We found 13 Bank Street through a posting on Homeaway.com, and glad we did. This was our first visit to Edinburgh (and our second stop in the UK, after a few days in London), and I can't imagine a better location and more comfortable place to stay to see the City.
13 Bank Street is located an easy 5-7 minute walk from Edinburgh Waverly train station. It truly is just off the Royal Mile (seemed like less that 200 meters), and well situated for a easy walk to the Edinburgh Casle, St. Giles Cathedral, the National Gallery (fabulous and free!), park and Princes Street. For a first visit to Edinburgh, Old Town is the way to go...and this location was perfect.
The apartment itself was clean and comfortable...and by comparison to where we stayed in London, incredibly spacious and great value. With two teens, the "two twin bed" configuration in the second bedroom worked great. The bathroom was fresh, clean with plenty of hot water (important for a family of four). The Wi-fi was speedy and appreciated. Washer/Dryer was a help as well. You need to know that the apartment is on the third floor, and there is no elevator...not an issue unless you pack quite heavy or may be challenged with stairs. Otherwise, the apartment is well worth the climb.
Dave welcomed us at the apartement with the keys, and checked us out when we left. We appreciated his recommendation for "Monster Mash", a great place for traditional Scottish dishes. Deacon Brodies (1 block away) was also a great suggestion. And for those that might need a Starbucks fix, yes, there is one a few blocks away. -

City beautiful and the atmosphere was at the top of comfort and beauty and people of all countries present.
The city was a party, glowing festivals and games pleasant and rare.
Prices were expensive for housing. The apartment, beautiful and a great benefit to a large family with kids close to the center of the city and everything easy to link to him the markets and restaurants, bus and train and parks.
However, one problem lies flat on the third floor of the building but does not have elevator and tired of this for the family and children. -

We really enjoyed our stay at Bank St. We arrived at the end of the Fringe Festival and were right off one of the main streets which placed us in a fantastic location for our purposes. The rate was sky high due to the convergence of thousands of people attending the festivities. We went ahead and bit the bullet so to speak and are glad we did. We were treated with professional courtesty and flexability which was really appreciated. I would stay here again if I was to return due to the location and ease of my experience. The lodgings were very nice. Small for more than three adults but could accomodate a small family of 4.Be prepared, you will be climbing stairs...It is on the third floor and it is a hike up...but we are in pretty good shape. If you have trouble with steep stairs you should perhaps look for a place with an elevator.

For youngsters, this is a perfect place to be - However climbing 3 floors of stairs is not an easy task with elderly people and with a baby. That was the only negative point to the whole journey. But service and everything else was impeccable. There is no parking facility, but there was adequate parking available on the opposite by lane.

Hertfordshire, UK.An excellent base from which to explore the whole of Edinburgh
Left on 02/02/2010 for a stay in January 2010
From the greeting by Dave at the property when we
arrived, to the goodbye from him when we left, our
experience at Bank Street was excellent. This well
decorated modern apartment has views across to the
Nelson Memorial, and when it is not raining (!) the
Firth. Centrally located at the top of the Royal
Mile it is within minutes walk of most of the old
town attractions and even the journey into the New
Town is quick, despite the hills.
This apartment is great if you do not intent to
cook a three course meal, but as a base for light
breakfasts and snacks during your sightseeing day
it is excellent. Don't worry about food, there are
plenty of restaurants to suit all tastes within
staggering distance, as well as many excellent
pubs.
The only issue you could possibly level at the
property is the 68 stairs up to the apartment, and
the fact that this stairwell, like many in shared
city apartments does not have the best of décor!
Having said that, once you step inside this is soon
forgotten.
Overall a comfortable base from which to enjoy your
visit to Edinburgh. -

The location of this property was second to none- situated on the mound in the centre of Edinburgh. We were bang in bewtween Princes Street and the Royal mile and a lovely pub within staggering distance.
The apartment inside was fabulous with lovely views out the windows- all mod cons. Only downside was the scare we got when we were first brought in through the run down front door, and into the tenament style hall and up the epic 70 stairs to the apartment. This property has no lift and is definately not recommended if you are elderly/unfit or have loads of luggage! -

We had a very enjoyable stay in Edinburgh. The flat was lovely and the location was excellent. Dave was very friendly and help on our arrival and departure.
We eat at one of the recommended restuarant - Petit Paris on the Friday night - the food and service were excellent. The timing of our stay was prefect - the Christmas festivities had started and it was the St Andrew's weekend celebrations. Looking forward to visiting again. -

The Bank Street apartment is suberbly appointed, with all that a family would require on a short visit to Edinburgh. Spotlessly clean, luxurious carpets in the bedrooms, wonderful welome from Dave. The only downside is the initial impression on entering the building, we were a bit worried! It could do with a fresh lick of paint! But once we had climbed the 60-odd stairs to the apartment we were very pleased.
The location is superb, so close to the Royal Mile, the Castle, Princes Street....everything. -

The unit is very well placed to walk everywhere, and not need a car.
It was very comfortable with all modern amenities, and was beautifully decorated in a rich vintage theme.
The outlook onto bank street was interesting and even picturesque. We liked the fact that the windows opened to allow a naturalbreeze to flow through the place.
Probably the only suggestion we could make, would be to improve the map and directions as to how to find the unit. The email map currently used is not clear when printed from the internet. -

GermanyBest Flat In Edinburgh
Left on 07/05/2009 for a stay in June 2009
The flats offered by Glenn and Dave from Edinburgh Self-Catering are top notch both in style and comfort. We have stayed in two flats on two seperate vacations over three years and had a fantastic stay both times. The flats are spotlessly clean, possess modern amenities and retain quite a bit of charm. Nothing is left to chance as there is even a carton of milk and coffee, tea and sugar for your first morning in town if you haven't had time to go to the market. These flats are money well-spent and the privacy and convenience are well-worth the money.

Excellent central location. Dave who met us was prompt and brought the milk, coffee etc. to greet us. The shared entrance was rather forbidding with old green painted walls with some grafitti and lots of steps! Very fit by the end of our stay. However, the flat itself was perfect. Plenty of room and the bedrooms were brilliant. Very comfy beds and the old wooden shutters on the windows added a great touch as well as extra sound insulation. Kitchen and sitting area very tidy and servicable. The power switches needed some decifering but perfectly safe. Obviously care had been taken over the decor and furnishings. Dave prompt for our leaving and very helpful. Would use the flat again happily.

This is a beautifully appointed flat, central to 'old Edinburgh'.We were met at the door, with a 'welcome pack'.Literally seconds from the Royal Mile, minutes from the Castle, with lots of attractions a few minutes walk away.If you enjoy eating out you'll be spoilt for choice, but facilities in the flat allow home cooking too. There are many bus routes out of the City, we visited the Royal Yacht and Ocean Termimal at Leith, a 15min bus ride away. For shopaholics there's wonderful shopping, go behind Princes St. to Rose St where there are lots of smaller, specialist shops. My only slight criticism is the 'climb' up to the flat...3rd floor...I was fitter when we left! But would stay there again.

This flat was perfect for our stay in Edinburgh. The person who greeted up with our keys couldn't have been more helpful and friendly and the flat itself was clean and well decorated.
From Princes Street you do have to walk up a hill to get there or quite a few stairs - there may be another route that we weren't aware of. If you want to see the castle or spend time on the Royal Mile then the location couldn't be better.
Highly recommended.
