What Past Guests Are Saying
Centrally located, nicely furnished, very helpful owner - would
The flat is in the thick of things - located just a short walk from Edinburgh Castle, a few flights of stairs from Princes Street Gardens (there are a lot of stairs in Edinburgh, which adds to its charm), and close to restaurants and bars. The flat is very nicely furnished and equipped, has a real charm of its own, and we'll definitely use it next time we're in Edinburgh as it was cheaper and far nicer than staying in a hotel. The owner (Dave) is also great, and he let us check into the flat far earlier than was stated, which got our stay off to a great start.

Awesome location and apartment!
This was a great apartment. Clean, perfectly located, stylish, wonderful. Up several flights of stairs, but not a problem and we were aware of that before we rented from the description, so all was good.
Great apartment, fantastic location
Situated just off the Royal Mile the apartment is ideally situated for exploring the Old Town. Dave was great, rundown of the apartment and left us to it. The pictures on the site are a true reflection of the property. Would definitely stay there again on a return visit.
Great place to stay!
Me and my friends loved this place. The rooms are beautiful and cosy and the apartment is absolutely centrally located.
Trip with Dad
Bowling Green, KY
Trip with our dad
This apartment was absolutely perfect. It was in the heart of Edinburgh and a 5 minute walk to the castle. We loved the location and the apartment itself was very stylish and clean. We would definitely stay here again and encourage others to stay here as well. There was only one disadvantage and that was a 4 flight climb for our Dad, otherwise perfect.
A really lovely apartment
Couldn't have asked for anything better. The apartment was wonderful and it's location means that in minutes you are in the heart of the Royal mile. It was a perfect base for us and we would definitely go back next time we goto Edinburgh
Perfect Location - great value
If you want to be within walking distance of all of Edinburgh's historic attractions, this is a great choice. It is literally half a block from the Royal Mile. We walked to the castle, Holyrood palace, the Scott Monument, etc. The airLink bus from the airportwill drop you off at Waverly Rail Station and then it is a short walk up the hill, no need to rent car or get a cab. My husband and I stayed with our 16 year-old son and it was nice for him to have his own room and a living room, instead of cramming into a hotel room. Great value for the price, also. We were very satisfied and would highly recommend. The only two cautions I would add are 1) that you need to be OK with going up the stairs (there is no elevator) and 2) this is a city setting and there is noise from the traffic and other Edinburgh visitors having a good time.
Excellent location, really good apartment.
Brilliant location for a short stay - emtres from Cockburn Street/Grassmarket/Castle etc. Apartment was laid out and furnished really well. Really spacious and comfortable. The only quible is in the standard of the kitchen - utensils, glassware, crockery, pans - lots of broken, chipped items. Aside from that highly recommended.

perfect location; wonderful flat!
Thoroughly enjoyed our second stay in this flat. Very clean and well appointed with perfect location for old town pub crawl and new town shopping.
Great location and nicely equipped and comfortable apartment
Would recommend this apartment to anyone wanting a central location and convenience to everything. It is well equipped and really nicely remodeled. Dave was prompt and efficient and we really had a good stay. Plus, the value is superb.
A Comfortable apartment in the Middle of Everything
We were delighted with this apartment, nicely decorated and comfortable right in the middle of the older part of Edinburgh. Our three days in the apartment were a delight, the number of stairs and no elevator being the only drawback. Nonetheless, we very much enjoyed our stay here.
a definate recommended stay
I loved the apartment. It was so convenient to do sightseeing in Edinburgh from, and eventhough it is centrally located the noise if the city did not bother us. The apartment was clean and the decor stylish...I would really recommend.
Salmon Arm, BC, Canada
Location, Location, Location!!!
This apartment is located just off the Royal Mile and just around the corner from the castle. We did not expect such a perfect location. Dave met us - actually he had to run after the very lost Canadians on the street. Dave is very friendly and helpful. The accommocation was very clean and comfortable. We even got to finally enjoy walking up the three flights of stone steps!! I would highly recommend this apartment in Edinburgh.
Incredible location, had a brilliant time in Edinburgh
In a large part due to the wonderful accommodations we had a super time while in Edinburgh. 13 Bank Street is literally around the corner from the Royal Mile and the castle and it made it so easy to go sightseeing but then stop in for a little downtime. We would definitely recommend this flat to anyone we know that might be going to Edinburgh.
Easy, welcoming and trouble free
Great apartment, right in the centre of town seconds from all of the main sites. Meet and greet service fantastic, Dave was already in the apartment waiting for us at the allotted time. Had a great long weekend.
a wonderful and very comfortable apartments easy access to everywhere.xx
Comforable stay in Edingburgh Heartland
Very comfortable stay in 2 bedroomedappartment just yards from Royal Mile. Dave met us with the key at the arranged time.
Entrance to stairwell dingey and off-putting, but apartment warm, and furnished to high standard.
Would stay again.
Excellent location and very good quality accommodation
Located just off the Royal Mile the location could not have been more central although with no double glazing this did mean there was some traffice noise. Standard of accommodation was very good, spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. Entrance to the flat is via an unkempt stairway but don't let this put you off, unless you have small children or trouble with stairs. All in all highly reccommend for a short break in Edinburgh but also for a longer stay if time permits.
Wonderful place to say, Amazing Location
We found 13 Bank Street through a posting on Homeaway.com, and glad we did. This was our first visit to Edinburgh (and our second stop in the UK, after a few days in London), and I can't imagine a better location and more comfortable place to stay to see the City.
13 Bank Street is located an easy 5-7 minute walk from Edinburgh Waverly train station. It truly is just off the Royal Mile (seemed like less that 200 meters), and well situated for a easy walk to the Edinburgh Casle, St. Giles Cathedral, the National Gallery (fabulous and free!), park and Princes Street. For a first visit to Edinburgh, Old Town is the way to go...and this location was perfect.
The apartment itself was clean and comfortable...and by comparison to where we stayed in London, incredibly spacious and great value. With two teens, the "two twin bed" configuration in the second bedroom worked great. The bathroom was fresh, clean with plenty of hot water (important for a family of four). The Wi-fi was speedy and appreciated. Washer/Dryer was a help as well. You need to know that the apartment is on the third floor, and there is no elevator...not an issue unless you pack quite heavy or may be challenged with stairs. Otherwise, the apartment is well worth the climb.
Dave welcomed us at the apartement with the keys, and checked us out when we left. We appreciated his recommendation for "Monster Mash", a great place for traditional Scottish dishes. Deacon Brodies (1 block away) was also a great suggestion. And for those that might need a Starbucks fix, yes, there is one a few blocks away.
Location Location and stairs
You can't beat it for location and to be fair the stairs aren't to bad. Bedrooms and bathroom great, kitchen all that you will need. One of the best apartments we stayed at in Edinburgh
City beautiful and the atmosphere was at the top of comfort and
City beautiful and the atmosphere was at the top of comfort and beauty and people of all countries present.
The city was a party, glowing festivals and games pleasant and rare.
Prices were expensive for housing. The apartment, beautiful and a great benefit to a large family with kids close to the center of the city and everything easy to link to him the markets and restaurants, bus and train and parks.
However, one problem lies flat on the third floor of the building but does not have elevator and tired of this for the family and children.
truely great location in the center of the action!
We really enjoyed our stay at Bank St. We arrived at the end of the Fringe Festival and were right off one of the main streets which placed us in a fantastic location for our purposes. The rate was sky high due to the convergence of thousands of people attending the festivities. We went ahead and bit the bullet so to speak and are glad we did. We were treated with professional courtesty and flexability which was really appreciated. I would stay here again if I was to return due to the location and ease of my experience. The lodgings were very nice. Small for more than three adults but could accomodate a small family of 4.Be prepared, you will be climbing stairs...It is on the third floor and it is a hike up...but we are in pretty good shape. If you have trouble with steep stairs you should perhaps look for a place with an elevator.

Edinburgh Fringe, great location
Very central, well appointed apartment but stairs could be a problem to some people.
It was perfect from a location standpoint
For youngsters, this is a perfect place to be - However climbing 3 floors of stairs is not an easy task with elderly people and with a baby. That was the only negative point to the whole journey. But service and everything else was impeccable. There is no parking facility, but there was adequate parking available on the opposite by lane.
An excellent base from which to explore the whole of Edinburgh
From the greeting by Dave at the property when we
arrived, to the goodbye from him when we left, our
experience at Bank Street was excellent. This well
decorated modern apartment has views across to the
Nelson Memorial, and when it is not raining (!) the
Firth. Centrally located at the top of the Royal
Mile it is within minutes walk of most of the old
town attractions and even the journey into the New
Town is quick, despite the hills.
This apartment is great if you do not intent to
cook a three course meal, but as a base for light
breakfasts and snacks during your sightseeing day
it is excellent. Don't worry about food, there are
plenty of restaurants to suit all tastes within
staggering distance, as well as many excellent
The only issue you could possibly level at the
property is the 68 stairs up to the apartment, and
the fact that this stairwell, like many in shared
city apartments does not have the best of décor!
Having said that, once you step inside this is soon
Overall a comfortable base from which to enjoy your
visit to Edinburgh.
Brilliant stay- dont be put off my the outside!
The location of this property was second to none- situated on the mound in the centre of Edinburgh. We were bang in bewtween Princes Street and the Royal mile and a lovely pub within staggering distance.
The apartment inside was fabulous with lovely views out the windows- all mod cons. Only downside was the scare we got when we were first brought in through the run down front door, and into the tenament style hall and up the epic 70 stairs to the apartment. This property has no lift and is definately not recommended if you are elderly/unfit or have loads of luggage!
Location top notch
Had a great time over New Years. Perfect pad to discover Edinburgh from
Work & play
We had a very enjoyable stay in Edinburgh. The flat was lovely and the location was excellent. Dave was very friendly and help on our arrival and departure.
We eat at one of the recommended restuarant - Petit Paris on the Friday night - the food and service were excellent. The timing of our stay was prefect - the Christmas festivities had started and it was the St Andrew's weekend celebrations. Looking forward to visiting again.
The Bank Street apartment is suberbly appointed, with all that a family would require on a short visit to Edinburgh. Spotlessly clean, luxurious carpets in the bedrooms, wonderful welome from Dave. The only downside is the initial impression on entering the building, we were a bit worried! It could do with a fresh lick of paint! But once we had climbed the 60-odd stairs to the apartment we were very pleased.
The location is superb, so close to the Royal Mile, the Castle, Princes Street....everything.
Value for money

value for money
Definately recommend this apartment. Great location, walking distance to major tourist sites, shops local transport. The apartment had nice furnishings, spotlessly clean and tidy throughout, more than enough room for 4 adults. The personal meet and greet was very welcoming and great to get some local knowledge. Definatly great value for money, can't go wrong
Exploring Edinburgh in Style!
The unit is very well placed to walk everywhere, and not need a car.
It was very comfortable with all modern amenities, and was beautifully decorated in a rich vintage theme.
The outlook onto bank street was interesting and even picturesque. We liked the fact that the windows opened to allow a naturalbreeze to flow through the place.
Probably the only suggestion we could make, would be to improve the map and directions as to how to find the unit. The email map currently used is not clear when printed from the internet.

The Gathering 2009
We enjoyed our stay very much. It was a very nice apartment. Street noise late at night might bother some but it didn't bother us. We would like to stay there again.
Very nice place to stay -- especially for a family
The location is great, the flat is very nice and well-kept, it's a perfect short-term stay in Edinburgh. Especially for a family (2 adults, 2 small boys on our trip).
Best Flat In Edinburgh
The flats offered by Glenn and Dave from Edinburgh Self-Catering are top notch both in style and comfort. We have stayed in two flats on two seperate vacations over three years and had a fantastic stay both times. The flats are spotlessly clean, possess modern amenities and retain quite a bit of charm. Nothing is left to chance as there is even a carton of milk and coffee, tea and sugar for your first morning in town if you haven't had time to go to the market. These flats are money well-spent and the privacy and convenience are well-worth the money.
Excellent central location. Dave who met us was prompt and brought the milk, coffee etc. to greet us. The shared entrance was rather forbidding with old green painted walls with some grafitti and lots of steps! Very fit by the end of our stay. However, the flat itself was perfect. Plenty of room and the bedrooms were brilliant. Very comfy beds and the old wooden shutters on the windows added a great touch as well as extra sound insulation. Kitchen and sitting area very tidy and servicable. The power switches needed some decifering but perfectly safe. Obviously care had been taken over the decor and furnishings. Dave prompt for our leaving and very helpful. Would use the flat again happily.
standard of accomodation was excellent. central location also excellent.
have already recommended to friends.
will use again in future.
We spend a few nice days in Edinburgh.
The apartment at Bankstreet was perfect.
All we need was there.
Lovely apartment- nice sized rooms and nice shower ( although slow to drain water)
Entrance a litlle scrappy but the location and ease of access to attractions makes up for that 10 fold.
This is a beautifully appointed flat, central to 'old Edinburgh'.We were met at the door, with a 'welcome pack'.Literally seconds from the Royal Mile, minutes from the Castle, with lots of attractions a few minutes walk away.If you enjoy eating out you'll be spoilt for choice, but facilities in the flat allow home cooking too. There are many bus routes out of the City, we visited the Royal Yacht and Ocean Termimal at Leith, a 15min bus ride away. For shopaholics there's wonderful shopping, go behind Princes St. to Rose St where there are lots of smaller, specialist shops. My only slight criticism is the 'climb' up to the flat...3rd floor...I was fitter when we left! But would stay there again.
Los Angeles, California
Beautiful flat, fantastic location!
The flat is spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated. The Royal
Mile and Princes Street are right outside the door, but it feels like a
retreat as soon as you enter. The views are gorgeous and Glen and
Dave are helpful and accomodating hosts. We've stayed in several
flats in Edinburgh, and this is our favorite. Highly recommended!
This flat was perfect for our stay in Edinburgh. The person who greeted up with our keys couldn't have been more helpful and friendly and the flat itself was clean and well decorated.
From Princes Street you do have to walk up a hill to get there or quite a few stairs - there may be another route that we weren't aware of. If you want to see the castle or spend time on the Royal Mile then the location couldn't be better.
