What Past Guests Are Saying
We will return!
What a great apartment! Close to the train station and right in the heart of Old Town and the Royal Mile. We were thrilled with the apartment. Nicely decorated and furnished with a full kitchen.
Hitchin , Hertfordshire
The best holiday accomadation we have had .
Booking was easy , We got a warm welcome from the helpful and friendly Mr Dave Stewart who met us bang on time at the apartment to show us around ,and help find places of interest to us. There was Milk in the fridge and tea, coffee & sugar to get a cuppa while we settled in. The flat was clean and warm and the bed was very comfortable. There was plenty of hot water .Every thing we needed was there (except perhaps somewhere to hang your coat by the door) The location could not be any better, 10mins from the station ,every thing you could want to enjoy Edinburgh is on your door step. We are very much looking forward to staying in Parliament Sq 1 again.
Response from Edinburgh Self Catering - 05/20/2013
Thank you for the wonderful review, it is always great to know that Parliament Sq 1 contributed to a wonderful trip to Edinburgh. We would also like to report a new coat stand has been purchased for the hallway.
The apartment was terrific, well located, & well fitted out.I particularly like the welcome, & explanation of the apartment, by your representative.
It met all our needs perfectly
My Notting Hill
Perfect Location & spacious
This 2 bedroom apt is perfectly situated on the Royal Mile, close to everything, including the start of the ghost tours that gather there at night. Very clean and spacious w/high ceilings and classic touches throughout, including a gas burning marble surround fireplace. The kitchen is modern and well set-up and the views from the windows are wonderful. Dave checked us in and he was great, I would definitely stay there again or at any of their other properties. Other note - be sure to have breakfast at Clarinda's on the Royal Mile and The New Bell Restaurant, a bit off the beaten track.
Perfect Location ...
This central chic apartment is perfect for a few days taking in the sights and experiences of the City. Despite the cold snowy weather we walked everywhere knowing we were able to return to comfortable, warm and cosy accomodation with an amazing view of St Giles Cathedral - magical at night with the splendour of the illuminated stained glass window and the snow falling.
We managed the many stairs despite our 'senior' years so don't be put off by any negative reviews with regard to 'no lift' - The climb is worth it!
This place actually felt like home away from home. Great service and well maintained!
Perfect little place!
This is a great little flat in an awesome location! We were greeted in the snow by Brid, who was most helpful in helping the three of us, including my infant son, up the stairs. Once we were settled in, she then personally escorted me to the nearest grocery store so I could stock up for our stay. The flat itself is beautifully appointed, with a fully outfitted kitchen, and super comfy beds and couch. My favorite thing about the flat was the modern, refreshing style and decor. I do have to say I was disappointed that for 130 gbp there were no wash clothes or bath soap, but all in all this was a great flat, and I plan to stay there again.
Great weekend in Edinburgh
Apartment was lovely, excellent location, clean and very comfortable. Good views too. Watch out for all the stairs, but means you can eat more cake with all the calories used!
Lovely Flat in a Perfect Location
This was our second time in the flat - two weeks over Christmas and Hogmanay. It's a real home from home - well equipped, warm, elegant gas fireplace, ample space for four people. The location is fabulous with everything only a few minutes walk away. The downside is that the street can be a little noisy when the bars empty out in the middle of the night - so if you're a light sleeper...It wasn't an issue for us because of all the other advantages of the location. The flat is on the top floor so there are lots of stairs to climb - but we just saw that as a good form of extra exercise. The beds were comfortable with good bed linen. Everything was very clean but the carpets could do with a deep clean - a few stains had appeared since our previous visit. All-in-all a first class rental in a first class location in a first class city.
A perfect bolthole in the city!
This is a perfect apartment for a weekend in the City. The location is perfect - a great place to explore the whole city easily on foot. We stayed with our 2 small children ( 6 & 8) and loved it. The apartment is so comfortable and cosy you instantly feel at home - much more relaxing than staying in a hotel. The guys at Edinburgh Self Catering were great, ensuring that we were met as we arrived in Edinburgh and gave us lots of great tips and recommendations for making the most of our weekend.
Silver Spring, MD
We rented this apartment for 9 days as a base to see Edinburgh and the surrounding area. We found it to be exactly as advertised - what you see online is what you get. Other reviews note the stairs, which can be a challenge after a long day of walking, but the apartment is worth the climb. The location is close to everything in the Old Town. Street noise was not an issue after 9 pm, and the section of the Royal Mile in front is restricted to pedestrians only so there is no traffic noise. The management of the apartment was very professional. Highly recommended.
very good location, very clean and comfortable !

Location, location, location but there is More!
This was our second august visit to Edinburgh and stay in Parliament Square. The location puts you in the thick of the Fringe and many of the other attractions and stimulations of Edinburgh in august and indeed throughout the year. The apartment is rather large, rather luxurious and altogether splendid to stay in. Dave Stewart and his colleagues provide friendly and prompt service. Its hard to imagine too many other places that would deliver so much albeit for a price particularly in august!!
We generally enjoy the climb to the fourth floor its good for the aerobics and you are rewarded with superb views. It might be a different matter in ten years but for now we want more and will be back again.
Location, location , location
Excellent apartment in great location. Met at apartment at agreed time by friendly and helpful member of staff. Everything provided in apartment that one could need and plenty of room to escape others when required.Views from apartment are amazing and one is really in the middle of the action. Only drawback is that apartment is on third floor and may not be suitable for those with mobility issues.A great place that enriched the stay in Edinburgh.
Helsinki - Finland
Vacation in the center of Edinburg
For us 4 adult people the apartment was very nice to stay 5 nights in the center of Edinburg. The apartment was very clean and equipments were perfect to live a little long time in one place - live like in the own home. Of course you must tolerate a little noise from the main street of Edinburgh in all time of day time. This was the perfect place to explore to Edinburgh city and its' attractions by walk.

Beautiful apartment on the Royal Mile
We thoroughly enjoyed the week we spent in apartment 15 at 1 Parliament Square. I do not believe it's possible to find a more centrally located vacation rental in Edinburgh. The pictures on the website are accurate and give a good sense of the look and feel of the apartment. It overlooks the Royal Mile and offers excellent views of St. Giles and the City Chambers. We were a bit concerned about noise, but it did not prove to be a problem. The apartment is beautiful, with lovely high ceilings and spacious well furnished rooms. The kitchen was well equipped and we were able to prepare several meals in the apartment during our stay. I don't usually comment on the television in rental apartments, but the TV in this apartment is great. We really enjoyed being able to watch BBC shows on demand. The apartment provided an excellent base for exploring all parts of Edinburgh. We had lovely walks in Old Town, New Town, to arthur's Seat, along Leith Walk and to the Royal Botanical Gardens. As others have mentioned, the steps are a challenge with luggage, but not an impossible one. Edinburgh Self Catering were good to work with and keep the apartment in good condition. I would be very pleased to recommend this apartment to others.
Chicago, Illinois, USA
The place was wonderful. Big rooms, high ceilings. Everything was clean and fresh. The beds were decent. The location could not have been better. I felt like we were dead center for all the attractions of the city. Loved having the full kitchen with washer and dryer. Great water pressure in the bathroom and lots of hot water. The only draw back was lots of stairs. Very nice staircase, but lots of it.
We loved this apartment! Perfect in every way. Unbelievable location and set up very nice. While it was great there were two things we would like to note. One, the shower had no pressure and the hot water was really hard to get to stay on one constant setting. The other was the cost of parking. Please be aware that there is no parking near the apartment and we parked down below the castle. That was fine for walking but was as costly as being in NYC or San Francisco in the us. Roughly $60 a day for parking. That adds up when you are away on holiday when you weren't expecting it. Other than that it was a wonderful spot and we would stay here again and will refer it to others as the apartment and the location were just unbeatable.
Response from Edinburgh Self Catering - 08/05/2012
Have to agree parking costs are disgraceful, we have to endure it all year round, please complain to Edinburgh Council. As Edinburgh is actually a very small city centre and is easily navigated on foot we suggest that guest park just outside the restricted zone in a well lit residential street and bus or taxi it back into the city centre. This is what we do ourselves on many occasions. The whole operation from dropping luggage off and then driving the few miles to drop the car then bus or taxi back takes approx 30 minutes. A taxi there and back will cost 7-8 pounds each way which is much less than city centre parking charges over the course of a stay.

The perfect stay in Edinburgh
We have loved our week in apartment 15 on Parliament Square. Dave met us just as we arrived by taxi with a warm welcome and everything we needed to feel at home here. The apartment is lovely, the views are stunning, and the location is perfect. It happened that our visit coincided with the Queen's week in Edinburgh, so we enjoyed the excitement of a Royal Visit. We have felt very at home here, and recommend it highly.
A Great Location and a Beautiful accomidation
You really couldn't ask for a better location or amenities at this apartment.
The introduction to the apartment by Dave was a wonderful personal touch and his introduction to the apartment was thorough and not rushed.
Within a 10 minute walk from the front door, is literally everything someone might need, (a little farther walk for the Palace and the Britannia.)
My only complaint would be the washing machine. It was fantastic to have one in the apartment, and it washed great and quickly, but the drying cycle was very long. It might have been normal for this type of machine since we are not familiar with a combo washer/dryer.
Ok, the steps to the apartment were many, but as long as you keep organized and make sure you have everything you need before you leave, they really are not a problem. The biggest struggle is with your luggage, and that only needs to go up once...I have climbed just as many steps in other countries without the gem of the apartment we had waiting for us at the top. Great value, cant wait to return!
Laguna Niguel, CA
The best seat in the house!
Really... you can't get any more central. The views were fabulous, especially out of the bedroom facing the church. The manager met us on time and took the time to explain everything. We were two couples and it was a great amount of space. Perfect would have been one more bathroom but we would all still rather have all the other benefits there than the extra bathroom in another location or less of a unit. We didn't use it much but the kitchen was well outfitted. There was a little price to pay for the view and that was the 5 flights of stairs. We considered it a good workout but some might not appreciate it.
Brilliant, will be back.
Great location and service. Top quality apartment with fantastic facilities. A real home away from home. Stairs give you a great workout everyday.
Perfect place to stay in Edinburgh
Lovely spacious apartment in a great location.
Three of us girls stayed - birthday girl got double bed and us two shared the twin bedroom - perfect!
Clean fresh bedclothes.
Large open plan lounge, flat screen TV and music machine. Large bathroom with plenty fresh towels.
Well equipped kitchen.
Everything nearby - shopping, eateries, bars & history
Excellent apartment in an excellent location within city of Edin
Apartment was situated in centre of Edinburgh close to shopping, attractions and nightlife. The apartment was decorated and furnished to a high standard, exceptionally clean and spacious. The apartment contained all the mod cons you would expect in your own home. I would not hesitate to book this apartment again when in Edinburgh and would recommend to my friends.
Stress Free Weekend Break
My two friends and I had a fabulous weekend break in Edinburgh celebrating a "big" birthday for me. The experience was more positive due to the accommodation in Parliament Square. It offered us everything we could possibly need. Linen, towels and the flat itself were immaculate. It was central allowing us access to all areas of Edinburgh. David who met us was very attentive. Would only every consider a hotel if I was only staying overnight.

Comfort and Elegance in Edinburgh
A group of four adults, my daughter, her partner,my husband and myself enjoyed a wonderful weekend here. The apartment is well furnished and well heated. The flat is extremely comfortable and well equipped. It is situated on the top floor of the building so it is only suitable for people without mobility problems. There are several good restaurants in the locality and much of the cultural life is nearby.
The booking process was simple and friendly, and the welcome at the apartment was pitched just right. The apartment itself was great - ideally located, comfortable, spotlessly clean and with everything we needed for a hassle-free week in Edinburgh. Could not have been bettered. This will definitely be our first choice for any return visits to Edinburgh. I particularly enjoyed watching the Royal Mile 'wake up' while I munched my cereals staring out of the window!

Perfect location, lovely and comfortable flat
Had 2 days in thist 2 bedroom flat overlooking Parliament Square, very elegant accomodations...WiFi worked well, beds were very comfortable...only quibble was that it is a 3rd floor walkup...
Great location - lovely period apartment!
My daughter and I stayed for two nights during the University Open days - and very much enjoyed the perfect location of this apartment. The entrance is impressive although there are quite a lot of stairs if you are carrying luggage. The apartment is well equipped and nicely furnished but there are no toiletries or other little extras that we have had in other serviced apartments previously so make sure you bring your own - particularly if you are arriving late. There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants on your doorstep and you are also a stone-throw from the castle which makes the location of this place absolutely perfect, although there was quite a lot of noise from the street at night.
This is an excellent apartment. It's in a great location and is extremely spacious and well equipped. The staff looking after the apartment were very friendly and helpful. Over all a very good base from which to explore Edinburgh with most major attractions accessible by foot. There is also plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. Would definately recommend and would book again if returning to Edinburgh.
An absolute gem
We stayed for 7 nights in this wonderful apartment. Tired after travelling for 27 hours we were met promptly by Dave who kindly carried my case up the stairs. This apartment overlooks The Royal Mile and St Giles. It has everything you will need and more. Maybe would not recommend for people older than us as the stairs could be a trial but other than that perfection.
Luxurious stay in great location
We had a lovely stay at this fabulous flat in the centre of Edinburgh. We were met as arranged. All facilities were in good order, clean and of a high standard. The flat is stylish and very comfortable. The location was great for exploring Edinburgh. Would probably be noisy in summer but not a problem this time of year. The stairs were great for keeping fit but would not be suitable for elderly or disabled visitors.
Fantastic Flat in a Fantastic Location
The flat was our home for two weeks so we got to know it pretty well - and could find absolutely nothing to be irritated by or complain about. The flat is nicely furnished, very comfortable and fully equipped with everything you might need. And there's a lot of storage space. There were four of us and we never felt crowded.
The location is incredible - so close to everything from fine restaurants to museums, to the castle, to shopping, to the railway station etc. We walked almost everywhere, used the buses a little and the occasional taxi - all very easy. The views are incredible - overlooking St. Giles Cathedral on one side and the Royal Mile itself on the other side. But there are a lot of stairs up to the apartment, which we embraced as an opportunity to work off all the wonderful food we ate and the few wee drams we imbibed, but would not be so easy for people with mobility issues. Also, it could be a problem for light sleepers because it does get a little noisy when people leave the clubs at about 3.00am - but this is an issue anywhere in central Edinburgh. Just pop in some earplugs because staying in this flat is worth it.
This is an incredible apartment in every way. Elegant, warm, cozy. Perfect for my husband, myself and our adult daughter for our 4 night stay. The beds are wonderful and the 'working shutters' snugged us in at night. It was a joy to make fine meals in the well equipped kitchen. Even the knives were sharp! We loved warming by the gas 'coal' fireplace as we read or played 'Scrabble'. The large arched windows on this ideal corner apartment filled our space with light and awe-inspiring beauty of the Cathedral and cobbled Royal Mile. What a delight! It was hard to leave it each morning. It's location is perfect for a walking tour of Edinburg. History, great restaurants and pubs, shopping... all within minutes of your door. We can not say enough about it. Highly recommend it!
Excellent, spacious accommodation central to all the sights!
Fab shower, great jacuzzi, comfortable beds & loads of eating places on the doorstep! Would rent again next time in Edinburgh!
Perfect location, beautiful place, comfortable beds, great kitchen and bathroom, all you could ask for... except the stairs - a four story climb that you do get used to but would be hard for some.
Fabulous apartment and location
Stunning and spacious apartment, well designed and equipped. Meet and greet is much appreciated we were shown around and advised how to use everything. Nice touch! Right on the Royal Mile with all ameneties to hand, no need for transport anywhere, though its 5 minutes walk to Waverley Station. Only criticism would be not enough towels provided-4 towels for 4 women for two days just not enough. other than that a fabulous place which we will be returning to next year.
Great stay at Parliament Square 1
What a fantastic place. The location was perfect for getting to just about anywhere in Edinburgh. The rental itself is very nice; the bedrooms were a good size, and the bed was comfortable. Bathroom was quite large as well (you might want to bring your own washclothes though). The photos are accurate.
Yes, it is up several long flights of stairs - but Vincent was very kind on my arrival and carried my heavy suitcase the entire way. The rest of the time it was great exercise. And while you can hear some of the activity from the Royal Mile, it just adds to the experience. Things usually settle down later in the evening, and you actually get used to the sounds.
Had a problem with one of the lights, and they came and fixed right away.
I would highly recommend Edinburgh Self Catering.
Central to Everything
Dave showed us the apartment which was everything that the website claimed very stylish well equiped apartment, right on the Royal Mile.
A Must Stay
Truly amazing location. Couldn't believe how close we were to the sights. The apartment itself was just fantastic -- I have no idea why someone would stay in a hotel when they could stay at Parliament Square 1 instead. The apartment was luxurious, yet very comfortable and relaxing all at the same time. Wish we could have stayed longer. Will definitely book the next time we're in town.

Amazing apartment in an amazing location.
We spent a week in apt. 15 at 1 Parliament Square and were thrilled with everything about this apartment. The location is right in the heart of everything and we could walk to sights, pubs and restaurants - really anywhere in the city. The apartment exceeded our expectations with lovely finishes, stunning views and everything we needed for a relaxing stay. It was also immaculate and included thoughtful details like umbrellas and guide books. The free wireless internet was a big help. The beds were very comfortable and we slept extremely well. There are stairs to climb, but that is what makes the views so spectacular. We are already talking about a return visit to this great home away from home.

So Good We Have booked it again
Magic accommodation. Superb location and views. Comfortable, clean and well equipped throughout. Good arrangements for arrival and departure. Improved our fitness climbing the stairs.
Best Apartment in Edinburgh!

I cannot imagine having a better location, size, or amenities!!
This was the absolute perfect location to be on the Royal Mile. The view out our windows was of centuries old St. Giles Cathedral and the Royal Mile. Everything was within a short walk: the castle, the palace, restaurants, Starbucks, grocery - you name it, it was close by. The apt. itself was impeccable with great size, a modern kitchen and cozy king size beds! We highly recommend this self-catered apt. You won't be disappointed.

Excellent accomodations and views!
This was the first time we brought our children with us to Scotland and this lovely flat was the perfect place from which to introduce them to Edinburgh. Very roomy and comfortable with beautiful views of St. Giles Cathedral and the Royal Mile. The kids loved the flat and so did we!
Lovely flat, with lots of 'details' that make you feel at home
This top-floor flat has all the little details that make you feel really at home: very tastefully decorated, lots of storage space, lots of space anyway and even umbrella's provided.Lovely bathroom!
Very friendly reception by Dave, who provides all the information you need, and can be contacted at any time.
In July there is quite a lot of noice (sometimes lovely music, but also sometimes drunk tourists) from the Royal Mile below. But there are good shutters if you want to block this out at night. If you are fit enough to climb the stairs, you will find that you get better at it every day and the topfloor offers great views. We hope to be back.
This is a fabulous apartment
The apartment is in a great location, beautifully fitted out and everything it promised to be. Great for a family, with 2 bedrooms. Great views, right on the Royal mile. There is no lift (which we knew) and is on the third floor, but the climb is worth it. We were met and very well looked after.
I Loved this apartment!!! It is so well decorated, has everything you would desire, comfortable beds and Magnificant views. Perfect!

Perfect place and location
We were 4 people staying at the place, and it was perfect. We could sit together in the living room, had a fantastic view and were in short walking distance to all attractions. Meet and greet was perfect too. We stayed in Edinburgh over the weekend of the "Armed Forces Day" and had Vip-seats for the parade - in the appartment!
The 83 steps to the appartment really worth it!
Wedding in Edinburgh
If you are marrying off your daughter at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh, this Paraliament Sq. rental apartment is fantastic for family and wdding guests to lounge, drop by, and for the bride to have her own room to have the "last night" at home, and prepare for the big day.
The location is so central that you might go craZy from the music buskers in the Royal Mile below your window day and night. However, the apartment is top floor, beautiful view, checkerboard floors shining bright and welcoming, all is perfect inside.
Just a note that the stairs are 89 up to the floor. We had some elder relatives who struggled to get up to the apartment to visit. If you are not fit, ask to rent lower down. Personally, I loved the space and could live there permanently. And by the way, the wedding was perfect. The sun came out the minute they said their vows!

The apartment was fantastic. Great location and all the amenities one would need. Beds very comfortable.

Fabulous apt. in a fabulous location
What a beautiful place in a wonderful location, right on the Golden Mile. Ideally located, central to everything, surrounded by shops and great restaurants. Walking distance to everything, including the train station. The apartment was modern, very comfortable and very clean. We were traveling with our two adult children - we had a great time. Everything was handled expertly - not a snag. I would recommend this place and hope to return. One note, you wouldn't want a car in Edinburgh and you don't need one either.
Location, location, location!
We found the apartment perfect in terms of its location. It was a bit noisy on the Friday night, but that's to be expected. The other two nights, however, were quiet. The apartment had everything we needed - washing machine, dishwasher, etc. It was clean and comfortable. It was also good to be greeted by Dave on our arrival to be told about the apartment and its facilities. The only criticism I have is that we booked a 2 bedroom apartment, yet only one bed was made up. I would have thought it fairly obvious that if we had booked a 2 bedroom apartment, we would want the 2 beds available to us. Despite this, we would definitely stay there again, if we visited Edinburgh in the future. Price was very reasonable for the location and facilities.
Lovely flat in a fantastic location, slightly let down by the state of the shower and by kitchen equipment (esp. crockery - quality and quantity) that's not up to the general standard the flat aspires to.
Fantastic Stay! This apartment has a perfect location on the Royal Mile which allows you to watch all the excitment happening outside. Great views. Check-In was smooth. The apartment was very clean and stylish. A few flights of stairs to climb up to the apartment but we didn't mind at all. Having Wifi in the apartment was an added bonus that we appreciated. Would absolutely say here again!
A lovely alternative to a hotel
Smartly-decorated, spacious and clean flat near Edinburgh Castle with lovely view of cathedral next door and the action on the Royal Mile. Kitchen is well-equipped and in good repair, there's wi-fi and flat screen with dvd player in the cozy living room and very comfortable beds in the two bedrooms. So nice to have room to stretch out at the end of a full day, instead of being cooped up in a pricey hotel room! Also, plenty of restaurant choices in easy walking distance from the sublime (The Witchery!) to the pedestrian (Starbucks).
A couple things to consider: there are four flights of stairs to reach this heavenly place and there is some noise in the evenings from the local tour groups that gather in the plaza below. If you're up for the climb and don't mind a little auditory ambience, you'll like Parliament Square 1. (Note: this company also rents an equally lovely flat closer to the ground floor if the stairs are an issue.) Cheers!
gorgeous apartment in a stunning location but unfortunately very noisy
Hogmanay in style
We stayed here for Hogmanay 2010 and this place was ideal. My family visiting from overseas were blown away with how nice the apartment was. It's a superbly modernly decorated gem so close to everything.
The Self catering team were very friendly. We turned up just before the torch light procession started to gather on the street below the apartment so were able to watch all the festivities from the comfort of our apartment window.
I would definitely book here again.
Excellent in every respect
Great place, great service, perfect location.
The apartment had everything we needed and its central location meant we were at the heart of this beautiful city. Close to Waverley Station, just next to St Giles Cathedral and with an abundance of bars and restaurants nearby, it could not be bettered.
Amazing location, wonderful property
Really lovely apartment located in the heart of Edinburgh. Great location, excellent greeting and orientation. Great place for a family with 1 child or a party of 3.
Located within walking distance to the castle - right upon the Royal Mile. We thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a little noisy at night as the evening ghost tours started outside the apartment, and the late night revelers could be heard from the streets -- but it was worth it.
The bus system was convenient to get to the airport.

Apartment with everything you need
Great location. The apartment decor, facilities and condition far exceeded our expectations.
We spent a wonderful few days in Edinburgh at this lovely apartment. The location couldn't be better, right in the heart of the old town on the Royal Mile, and only a few minutes walk from the railway station. All the sights were within walking distance. The apartment was a good size for our family of 4, well furnished, very clean and warm. It was little noisy on the Saurday night, but that's the trade-off for being in such a good location - it was fine on the other two nights. Being on the top floor meant it was quite a work-out getting the cases up the stairs (no lift)! But overall we were very happy with the accomodation, the booking process was easy, and the security deposit was refunded promptly at the end of our stay. Would highly recommend.
Luxurious comfort and excellent location, great value!
Check-in was very easy, it's not a bad walk from the airlink 100 bus stop from the airport. All the amenities you could want. We only stayed four days, but we could comfortably stay months.
The apartment was very clean, and pretty big. Easily enough room to entertain a bit. We were there for a wedding and the bride got ready in our apartment the morning of the wedding. It had enough space to accommodate that. Very comfortable, and nicely decorated. Free wifi was a great feature for us. We also like the fireplaces. Beds were very comfortable and warm.
The location was amazing. Right in the heart of royal mile and close to shops, stores, pubs, restaurants, etc. We could easily walk to everything we needed, including the tour bus stop for a tour to Loch Ness. The only downside to being in such a great location is that is was a bit noisy on the weekend nights. Also, they started the haunted tours right outside the apartment, so you could hear screaming as they riled up the crowd. Non of it really kept us awake though. You do have to climb a lot of stairs for this particular unit, but it really was only hard with the luggage. Plus it was a great way to work off some of the amazing food! Would highly recommend to anyone and would love to stay again.
Fantastic Location - Great Value
The location, cleanliness, and view from this apartment is fantastic! The kitchen is well equipped and the living area is comfortable. We had two married couples stay and the arrangements were very nice. It is a shared bathroom, but posed no issues. The ladies wanted to stay a few days longer because of these accommodations! The only negative might be that you will need to climb four flights of stairs to get to the apartment. The reward for climbing is a fantastic view of the Royal Mile and St. Giles Cathedral.

Superb accomodation in a beautiful city
The apartment is situated on the Royal Mile which is an ideal location for exploring the town on foot. The accomodation is elegant, spacious and very comfortable -a pleasure to return to after a busy day sight-seeing.
We were met by the agent who guided us expertly into the town, showed us the apartment and then took us to safe parking for the car.
Excellent location fo the festival
A really nice apartment with good facilities - lots of stairs to keep you fit but worth it. As central as you can get.

We booked this apartment for four nights in July 2010. The apartment is very comfortable, with wonderful views over to St. Giles and on the Royal Mile. Unfortunately the gentleman who handed out the keys was not very helpful. We had the impression that our money was welcome, and that we had to leave on time at the end of the stay. Nothing else. Service? Flexibility? No, not part of the deal. The bathroom was not very clean, glasses in the kitchen dirty, TV did not work properly. Oh, very nice gas fire. It worked. Summing up: We had high expectations in relation to the price of the apartment, which were not fully met.
Response from Edinburgh Self Catering - 09/10/2010
I am sorry there were some issues you were unhappy with and they will be investigated. However, I can assure you that the properties are scrupulously cleaned prior to every arrival. Mnay past reviews are testament to this.
However, I am unclear why you think it is unreasonable to ask guests to leave "on time" at the end of the stay. You have to appreciate we are a small management team and have a very short window of time between bookings to prepare the property for the next guest, especially in the very busy month of July were we can have several properties to do in one day.
In terms of value fo rthis particualr booking, this beautiful two bedroom prestigious apartment cost approx 35% less than what two small rooms in a budget hotel would cost in the month of July.
Great Location but difficult to drive, unload and then park car.
The location was perfect for us, a family of 5. The apartment was clean, easy to stay in and extremely comfortable. The agent who met us gave us great suggestions on places to eat. However, driving into Edinburgh was difficult and the agent was unable to give us driving instructions. He seemed impatient with us. Being unable to park our car somewhere safely to unload was also a problem and then climbing 87 stairs with luggage was hard. But it was a fabulous stay, a fun time and i would recommend it highly if you come without a car.

So glad you had a great stay. However your experience serves as good tip to everybody to do a little bit of research where the properties are exactly in the city and not wait until you arrive at the edge of the city and try get instructions by phone. Im sure many of us have tried this and realise how difficult this can be, especially in a city like Edinburgh with many small streets.
Every formal confirmation sent out has the full detailed postal address of the property which can be put in various mapping websites for an accurate map which can be printed out with driving instructions if requested. The formal confirmation also contains a link to a customised googlemap showing the locations and if you click on street view you can see exactly what the the building looks like. These small steps really help minimise any difficulties locating the properties.
Also if you are driving by car, please advise and a map can be sent showing the location of all the long term car parks with in the city centre. Aternativley conduct a search online.

Jazz and Blues and Fringe!
The apartment was ideal with three friends staying with me performing in the Jazz and Blues Festival. It was so convenient to walk to the gigs. Since it was during festival season High Street was abuzz with street theater and performing artists. Just look out the window for entertainment! The apt does have wood shutters that may be closed for when you need peace and quite. Hats off to Dave (property manager) for keeping the property at such a high level of cleanliness and comfort. The unit is a top forth floor unit, but you do have six flights of stairs, no lift, a good way to stay in shape after enjoying the many good restaraunts in the area! What else can I say we were there for 10 days and enjoyed each one! My only reservation in writing such a glowing review is that it may make it more difficult for me to rent next year! Until next year!

Location,service and amenities first class.
Dave Stewart was extremely helpful, He was on-time at the beginning of the stay and at the end. The location was terrific as we were in the middle of everything in Edinburgh. We also like the proximity of the train station which we used to travel around Scotland. The overall experience with the apartment was all we could have asked for. We would rent again.
Great accommodations on the Royal Mile
My wife and I came to Edinburgh with our teen grandson to explore and savor all the history. We all loved this apartment--convenient to everything on or near the Royal Mile. Two roomy bedrooms, the well-equipped kitchen, spacious bath and nicely furnished living room made this a home away from home for our 5-day stay. The apartment's on the third floor and with no lift, be prepared to climb many steps! This location can be a little noisy due to street performers and responsive audiences but that adds to the excitement and charm of this splendid city.

A fabulous apartment in the perfect location. I do not have one bad thing to say about this experience. The apartment provided excellent accomodations with appliances in perfect condition and spacious rooms, even a luxuriously large bathroom. The view from all windows is spectacular. There is no lift/elevator, so I would be hesitant to recommend for someone who has difficulty with several flights of stairs. My traveling companion and I had no problem managing the stairs. It was a small price to pay for such a perfect location.
Outstanding location and service!
Really a great apartment in the best location of Ediburough! Excellent service and help. The apartment was situated in the center of it all. Great furnishings with "extras" like maps and lists of restaurants, stores and things to do near by. Really a great experience. Just don't mind the steps! Quite a climb to the top floor. Loved it overall.
North Tustin, California
This apartment was fantastic. It was in the perfect location of the old city pedestrian area. It was clean, beautifully decorated, and had every amenity. It is on the fourth and top floor. So you do have stairs to climb. It is an oasis at the top of the stairs.
Amazing location, great apartment!
We were very pleased with the apartment. Right in the middle of the Royal Mile, very close to Edinburgh Castle. Apartment was clean, modern, large, and even had a washer-dryer for road weary travelers. Kitchen was amazing, only too bad we didn't use it much as there was so much good food nearby. Would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in Edinburgh.
great value, tastefully furnished apartment in the heart of town
well-distributed corner apartment bathed with sunlight with 2 bedrooms, kitchen and living room, with stunning views on the Royal Mile and Edinburgh castle from every window. second time returnee and as great as I remember it 2 years ago. only minor note I can think of: it is on the fourth floor without elevator, so would recommend to anyone other than physically challenged.
Eine absolute Empfehlung für den aufenthalt in Edinburgh.
Tolle Wohnung, sehr geräumig, mitten im Zentrum. Wir kommen wieder!
Parliament Square was a perfect spot from which to explore Edinburgh for the first time. About mid-way on the Royal Mile, we had very easy access to the castle, Holyrood, the National Museum, and St. Giles was literally at the doorstep (as were all the walking tours, and lots of buskers at the weekend). Not noisy at night, and plenty of room for a family of four. We'll stay with Edinburgh Self-catering again next time we're in the city.
We very much enjoyed our recent stay the apartment is of a high standard with lovely bedrooms and kitchen everything you could need for a very enjoyable stay, the location is also very central and couldn't be any better for exploring on foot.
It is as good as it looks on the website!
brilliant apartment in fantastic location
the service was excellant, we were let in the apartment prompt and shown around , which is a nice personal touch. The apartment was very clean, beautifully furnished and had all the facilities we needed. The location must be one of the best in Edinburgh, extremely good position.Overall the apartment was an excellant choice and we would certainly like to return
Wonderful stay in Edinburgh!
Thanks again for the personal service and kind attention to all our needs. My mother, daughter and myself truely appreciate the cozy accomodations, perfect location, and friendly service! Our trip was most memorable. We are passing on our recommendations to our friends so they too can enjoy Edinburgh in style!
Very Nice Apartment, Great Location
We were happy to have Dave's help with luggage and an overview of the apartment. The apartment was beautiful - just like the pics. It had plenty of room with all the amenities we needed and more, including a lovely/cozy fireplace. We loved the views especially of St. Giles. We would have liked to have stayed longer and are already looking forward to our future stay there!
Brilliant location and beautiful apartment
Two couples shared this 2 bedroom beautifully appointed apartment. We wanted for nothing, the apartment was modern, gourmet kitchen, comfortable big beds. Everything is thought of, broadband included, spare umbrellas to borrow, street directory of the area and location is perfect. We would highly recommend a stay here. Dave was our contact and was available throughout our stay and responded to the one query we had very quickly and efficiently. Stay here!
New year in Edinburgh
Best location for all things Hogmanay in Edinburgh.
Comfortable, clean and with all facilities.
Only downside - the flat is for four we would have liked more crockery than the set for 4 - no spares for when dishwasher was running.
superb location and makes you fitter!!
first rate location in the heart of edinburgh. a chic, spotless apartment with fantastic views all around. downside, having no lift and being on the top floor the stairs were a bit of a killer. parking also expensive but as expected in a major city.
Great weekend in Edinburgh
We stayed for 2 enjoyable nights at the end of November 2009. The apartment is in a great location on the Royal Mile and couldn't really be faulted. The 82 steps to the apartment might be a problem for some but that is made clear beforehand. We were met by Dave who was on time, friendly and helpful. Though not cheap, we would definately recommend to friends and would go back again.
PS If you like Thai food, the Thai Orchid a few minutes walk away is worth a visit.

Fantastic city!!!.The accommadation was superb and real value for money.Couldn get anything more central.Three of us stayed at Paliament Square and we had plenty of space. We have been recommending to family and friends.Hope to visit again next year.
Brilliant location to stay in
I would highly recommend this flat, it is lovely, with a well equipied kitchen, two good sized bedrooms and a big bathroom. The location, in the middle of the royal mile, is perfect for the old town and a few minutes walk to the new town. the flat was clean and well kept and a pleasure to stay in. Enjoy the stairs up to it!

Ideal base of our 5 day stay.
Fantastic location, couldn't be more convenient with the service in St Giles catherdral and a reception in the Signet Library afterwards...!
Well equipped and comfortable apartment....Certainly worked off a few calories with the stairs but well worth it.!
Dave very helpful allowing us early access and gave us a some great tips.
If your planning on driving into Edinburgh, consider leaving your car at one of the many FREE park and ride schemes on edge of city and use the excellent bus services around town. This is just £3 /day for all travel. Central car parks are expensive.

Where It's At
We,the four of us had a brilliant time in Edinburgh, the apartment was positioned right in the centre of the city, and as soon as you walk out the front door your right in the middle of an entertainment playground from underground tours, visits to the castle 300yards, markets, street entertaiment, great pubs! and much much more.
The apartment is spacious, clean, modern, but with character, and had all the comforts of home, no need to take anything.
We tried to book for the new year but it's fully booked (no suprises there) Oh well maybe next year!
One thing to remember, it is on the top floor, so might not suit everyone......
We LOVED this flat!
My husband and I stayed at 1/15 Parliament Square for 5 nights. We decied to splurge a bit since this was to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We were so pleased with the location and amenities and how we were treated during the reservation, check-in/out process.
The flat is just like the pictures show. It is very comfortable and right in the middle of all that the Royal Mile has to offer. The beds and linens are wonderful. We slept like babies especially because of the shutters that close over all the windows to make everything dark and quiet.
It was very handy to have a washer/dryer in the kitchen. Do note the dryer takes a long time especially for heavier things like jeans. Only downside was the lack of a lift which we did know about ahead of time. There are 82 steps up to the top floor where the flat is situated.
We recommend this flat to anyone traveling to Edinburgh as long as they can handle the stairs. We hope to return in the next 2-3 years.

great location and amenities
The apartment was spacious and well appointed for 4 adults, beds were great and a very convenient location but you must be comfortable with lots of stairs. (good exercise though!) The apartment was walkable to all the sites in the city and many good restaurants close by. The service from the company was very prompt and although we did not require any extras you had the feeling they would be there in a minute.
an overall great experience....not recommended for people who cannot climb
We recently enjoyed a two night stay in the Parliament Square Apartment. The apartment is ideally situated on the Royal Mile and is very central for sightseeing, restuarants etc. The accomodation is very comfortable and well equipped. It is also bright and spacious and was ideal for us (family of four). Although it did not bother us at all, some guests may find the stairs up to the apartment rather daunting. Only one disappointment was the rather stained lounge carpet which badly needed cleaned. Other than that, we had an excellent stay.
Just the best location
This is a great property in a fantastic location (provided you don't mind stairs).
Obviously it is in the centre of the City, so don't be surprised if there is street
noise (although no traffic noise).
The flat is well-equipped with everything you could need. It was very clean.
The service when we arrived and left was very straightforward and precisely as
had been described in an email in advance.
One practical difficulty is that there is no nearby parking and the long-stay
parking (which is about 15 minutes' walk away) is pretty expensive (around
£18 per day, from recollection).
But this did nothing to dampen our enthusiasm for this place - we'll certainly
From the start; the handover was seemless and the apartment was fantastic and perfect for the family. It was spacious, immaculate, the beds were tremendous and it had everything we needed. The location could not have been better. Apart from being close to several great restaurants and of course pubs everything was within walking distance. The next time we are in Edinburgh we'll be staying here....
Parliament Sq - a great choice!
Amazing apartment. Spotlessly clean, well maintained and very comfortable.
Has everything you need for your stay.
Great flat and location!!
We stayed twice in this flat for 2 nights each on our way to St. Andrews to golf. The location is second to none on the Royal Mile across from St. Giles Cathedral - a great site when you look out your window anytime!! Enjoyed the living area to watch tv and the fully equipped kitchen to prepare breakfast and snacks. Dave is a wonderful host to welcome you to Edinburgh!! Would love to come back soon!
A palace on the roof!
Except the 82 stairs to reach this wonderfull apartment, we were very satisfied to spend four days in this palace on the roof. Tastly decorated, the apartment located in the heart of Edimburg, is very well equiped, very clean and absolutely comfortable.
The four of us have only good rememberings about this apartment that we recommand to everyone who wants to live close to where the action is (bars, castle, restaurants, shopping, museums, etc.) in Edimburg.
Well appointed apartment with a spectacular location. We will be back!
Fantastic Flat in a Fabulous Location!
This was the PERFECT home away from home while we were in Edinburgh. The flat is funky, spacious and immaculate. And the location cannot be beat! Right on the Royal Mile, near everything and St. Giles Cathedral is right outside the living room window! There are a few flights of stairs to get to the flat but it was well worth it. I would highly recommend this place!

wonderful little gem
Had a wonderful stay at Parliament square. Travelled as a family, two adults and two children and could not have picked a better place to stay. It is ideally located near the castle with lots to do right outside your doorstep. The apartment itself was spotless clean and the decor was top end. Two bedrooms one double and one twin. Would not hesitate to recommend this place and will definately stay here again on my next trip to Edinburgh. The only downside is that it is on the top floor so lots of stairs to climb, but well worth the climb once you get there - Not suited to the eldery or parents with strollers! Fantastic service provided from start of booking right to handing the keys back!

First time at a rental apartment we were very impressed all mod cons very clean and comfy and are hoping to come again. Fantastic location everything is on the door step and if coming for shopping Princes street is only a short walk away.Highly recommend we had a fantastic time.
The flat was awesome and we really enjoyed our stay. The location is superb. Everything we wanted to see was within reach. The only little issues we had were the key hand-over which was a little complicated and the cleanliness [maybe because we are Germans;)].
Other than there is absolutly nothing to complain about. Fantastic apartment:)

Fantastic location, great apartment!
We had a fantastic time in Edinburgh and really appreciated the
location and price of this apartment. We decided to try a self-catering,
rather than a bed and breakfast, because we were 3 generations,
grandparents, parents & kids. There were 6 of us: 4 adults & 2 kids ( 4
and 6). It was fantastic. We were able to put the kids to bed and then
stay up to visit or just watch TV.
The apartment was clean and well stocked, the management was
friendly and extremely helpful. If we ever travel to Edinburgh again,
this is the first place we'd check for availability.
It suited everyone's needs, which can be hard with such a diverse

Perfection in Edinburgh
The flat was beautiful and far exceeded my expectations in every area. Dave, our contact, was a pleasure to work with as well being fantastic to glean useful local information from, the restaurant list was most helpful. The overall experience of renting the flat at 1/15 Parliament Square was perfection.
A very comfortable apartment located in the best area for tourists. It was perfect for my family (2 teens, 15 and 17)
The Best of the Best
Parliament Sq, on Royal Mile, was perfection at its best. After staying in a few 5 star hotels during different trips to Edinburgh we decided that we would try an apartment since there were going to be three of us instead of just my husband and myself. To our surprise we found the apartment to be 5 star all the way and would never consider staying anywhere else when we visit Edinburgh in the future. It was huge, beautiful, and right in the middle of the Royal Mile, it just doesn't get any better then that!
Flat very comfortable and modern with good facilities. Couldn't be more central (right next to St Giles cathedral!) Still has the old shutters inside so with these and the curtains closed at night, there is very little noise for such a centrally located flat. The lack of a lift and the flat being on the top floor might not suit some people. However, all the other benefits of this flat more than made up for that!
Wonderful Centrally located apartment
Top floor spacious apartment in centre of Edinburgh on the Royal Mile opposite St Giles.
Beautifully decorated and furnished with state of the art TV/DVD/HI-FI.
No lift so tenants need to be fit to manage all the stairs.
We spent a week in this apartment on Parliament Square in March 2008 following my daughter's wedding at the Castle. It is a lovely apartment, well furnished and well equipped with great views from all windows. Everthing was very clean and tidy with a good mix of the traditional and modern. Centrally located, everything we needed was on hand, and there are many great restaurants within easy walking distance. Key handover was easy and we had no problems at all. All the "touristy" things were within a 10-15 minute walk. Hope to revisit using the same apartment maybe for a slightly longer stay.
Would very definitley recommend this property.
central location, charming apartment
great apartment, centally located and very charming in its layout (corner apartment, lots of windows with great views, bright) and tastefully furnished. all sights and activities of interest are walking distance, truly great. only reason i can not give it best rate is that it is on the fourth floor without elevator - again a small price to pay for an apartment and building that is uniquely charming - which can turn into a challenge with children of physically impared guests.
overall a truly wonderful experience and hoping to be back sometimes.

Wonderful apartment and location
The apartment was everything we had read about previously. Lovely furnishings. Great location. Across the street from local tour company. Right on the Royal Mile and close to the castle. We were met right on schedule to get our keys. The entire process was very efficient. We even watched fireworks over the castle from the living room window. What we saw in the pictures was what we got.
Just a note - There are quite a few steps to get to the apartment (no elevator) and we were challenged physically initially (that means stopping on a landing to rest).
Wonderful, cute, convenient, clean apartment.
This is a wonderful property at any time but during the festival it is divine! The location places you at the centre of activity-you can see the tatoo fireworks for free and you can see street acts through the day. The nearest restaurant is downstairs.
The apartment is up 3 sets of stairs so you need to be fit and it is not possible to get a taxi to the door during the festival.
The aparments itself is tasteful and well equipped-even includes broadband. Four adults spent 7 days without getting on each others nerves. Its basically bliss
The perfect place!
This was a wonderful experience! My family included my husband, mother and baby brother (who was only 14 months at the time). The space was more than comfortable, in an ideal location and so luxurious! I would recommend this rental to anyone who wants the perks of a hotel, without the price and with more privacy and independence.

Big Bang for Your Buck!
Excellent location, nice, clean, big apartment. Only drawback was the dryer didn't work and the 5 flights of stairs....but easily overlooked for what you get. Nice touches with all the umbrella's available. Even has single malt scotch glasses! The wow factor here is 10+.
