It's not often that you find a place so central which feels like home and you have your own piper playing just outside! We loved the place, though you do have to brace yourself for the 70 stairs to get to the flat - breath in deeply before attempting the climb. Love the flat, loved the open fireplace, the sitting room which with its duel aspect was alway light airy. We were well looked after and when I sent a message to say that the soap was actual water, we had a visit almost immediately with replacement. I would have liked to find shower gel as well as soap and a few more kitchen items, like scissors, but overall great place. Location is brilliant 2 minutes from Edinburgh castle ( expensive but worth it, though my recommendation is go for the guided tour - free, versus the audio guide which is extra), national museum of Scotland ( its free and the Scottish section is so worth a visit), 5 minutes walk from Waverely station (its quite some hill) and 10 minutes from Holyrood (beautiful) and Scottish parliament ( worth going to sit in and watch, you need a ticket and session tend to be afternoon building is superb)! If you get the time Stirling is only a short train ride away and worth a visit. Would definitely recommend it and would go back!

My wife and I stayed two weeks in Scotland, using this flat as a "home base". It was a stellar location, providing easy access to anything Old Town and New Town. Edinburgh Waverly Train Station less than 5 minutes (10 minutes returning to the flat as its all up hill!). It was adequately equipped for the two of us and had all the conveniences necessary.
This was the hub of a truly incredible experience, and as special as it was, the flat made it all the more memorable. We would recommend this flat to anyone who is able bodied (after all its a 3-floor walk up, be glad to haul the luggage only once up the steps). I would also recommend hiring a driver from the train station or airport if you have significant luggage. It was a smart decision on our part.
Thanks Glenn for making this easy and very enjoyable. -

This apartment has an excellent location. Each day we could look out onto the Royal Mile and St. Giles Church square opposite. However, the apartment itself is average in its furnishings and fittings and lighting is poor; the kitchen is well equipped. But the entrance from the street is drab and poorly maintained. And oh! the stairs -- 70 steps up to the apartment do not facilitate in-and-out days. Overall, a premium price for a great location but an average apartment.

Left on 08/06/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Of all the flats we rented during our recent vacation, this one tops our list. Dave met us at the flat and provided a warm welcome and tips for local attractions, shopping and dining. The flat was better than described. Well maintained and very clean. The location could not have been better.
A couple of things to note...self-catering flats typically do not provide toilet paper or hand and dish soap. Stop by the local Tesco and grad some. It is a short walk. This flat is on the 3rd floor (ground+3), so you need to be comfortable with stairs.
Great place to stay. We definitely plan on returning to Edinburgh and this flat.
Thanks for the memories. -

We enjoyed our stay here, the apartment was warm and comfortable, and as described. This location is right in the middle of the Royal Mile and looks out on St Giles Cathedral so has great atmosphere. Be aware that it is up a couple of flights of steps and the stairwell itself is a bit grotty, but don't be put off as the apartment is spacious and comfortable.

Great service. Checkin handled very efficiently. 2nd stay at this property. Comfortable and well equipped. Cannot beat location as it's convenient for everywhere in Edinburgh.
In need of some updating especially kitchen and bathroom but still a great property. Flat on 3rd floor so access by the stairs could be a problem for some otherwise helps to keep you fit! -

Left on 01/12/2012 for a stay in January 2012
I booked this apartment for my daughter and two of her friends that were doing some traveling before they took a class in London. I knew that they would be staying in hostels for most of the trip so I wanted them to have at least one place to really relax and more importantly for them - free wifi!!!
When they arrived they were in heaven. All of their status on Facebook were - I am blessed - such a beautiful place. My daughter showed me the view from her window of a church that was incredible. They thoroughly enjoyed cooking their own meals and lounging around the place. My daughter wanted to know if she could move to Edinburgh. Dave was great - accommodated the girls when they didn't arrive until very late in the evening. The location was perfect and for three young women, safety was important and this was a very safe and lovely place.
Thank you for sharing this apartment with the girls - it is truly a memory they will have forever!!! Highly recommend it for anyone going to Edinburgh. -

If you have problems with the stairs, it won't be a good idea to choose this appartment. But I have to say that my father (63 years old) was so happy with it!!

This apartment is on the Royal Mile across from St. Giles. It is within walking distance of everything including new town. Dave gave us a great introduction to the unit (he was there when I had scheduled via e-mail even though I did not telephone as requested).
We spent a week there and never ran out of things to do. We loved the amber Rose pub (new town) for food & drinks at reasonable prices. Having an internet connection was also helpful. -

We loved the apartment on St. Giles. It was right in the middle of everything, the bed was comfortable and there was good eating nearby. However, with being right there on the Mile comes a lot of noisy people getting out of bars at 3 in the morning and bagpipes. It was still quite a lovely stay. Plus, the weather was amazing while we were there. We will definitely be heading to Edinburgh in the future.

The St. Giles flat was a great choice for Edinburgh. We were greeted by Dave, who has a wonderful "Scottish" personality", and who gave us lots of city tips. Place was very clean, wooden floors mopped and nice, crisp linens were on the bed. Plenty of hot water and a comfortable shower and tub. The view cannot be beat! Medium-sized, not giant, suitcases are a better choice when navigating the stairs that go up to the flat. We would definately return and also suggest this apt as a nice option to a b and b or hotel.

We particularly appreciated the location, which was quite convenient to Old Town and New Town. Don't bring too much luggage, since there is a long climb to the apartment. It was very spacious and comfortable, and we were glad to have the washer/dryer. The kitchen could have used some better equipment (corkscrew, large stock pot).
It was clean and had wonderful views of St. Gile's Cathedral. We would stay there again. -

It was a great location for a short break. The location is fantastic, in front of the cathedral, and we got to see the armed forces day parade from the living room window!
The apartment was really clean, and very nicely decorated, charming. Dave, who checked us in, was very helpful and accomodating.
The only (minor) drawback is that, due to its central location, it was a bit noisy, but not too bad. -

Location is fantastic, pretty much the geographical center of everything, and incredible views up and down the Royal Mile if you want to watch the crowds. Sleeping accommodation is basic but comfortable. There's street noise of course, but not too bad from this high up. Kitchen is less than basic, and barely equipped at all for any kind of cooking. Stairs are a serious climb, fun if you are fit (and sober), not for you otherwise.

I stayed in the flat in mid-March on research. The flat was spacious, very comnfortable - and had just the right amount of 'Old World' charm to feel like a true sactuary. Being bhigh off the street eliminated most noise - and the pepr below in the evening was very welcome - i opened the windows to enjoy it the more. The bed was very comfortable and the bath also quite nice. some might find the long climb a bit too much - but once up there...And we could all use a little more aerobic exercise, don't you think?
I loved it; hope to return for a longer stay; and would encourage anyone interested in the Old Town of 'Aul Reekie' to stay in the St. Giles! -

Brilliant location even with the steps! Bedroom and sofa bed very comfortable. Kitchen was adequate if you want to eat out all the time but slightly lacking if cooking for 4 as it was difficult to find appropriate cookware to do so.
Cleanliness was again adequate, definately due a deep clean on hard to reach areas. Towel supply was very good and heating was easy to control as was shower. View from windows was great, right up /down the royal mile. Information provided in folder in apartment was beneficial but could have covered more.
We arrived very early in the city and were delighted that we got access to appartment early as no one was checking out so definately worth checking with contact if this can be arranged should you book this appartment.
We would definately go back to this appartment -

This apartment could not be in a more central location to enjoy all that Edinburgh has to offer tourists. Right on the Royal Mile with views of the Castle ... what else could a person ask for!?! From the time we made first contact to the check out, everything was handled effectively, efficiently and professionally. Even climbing the 3 flights of stairs to access to apartment only added to the charm of the buidling. Would not hestiate to stay here again or recommend the property. :-)

I felt really lucky to have found this apartment so close to everything we wanted to visit. We are a family of two parents and two teenagers, there was enough room for everyone. I'm told the pullout couch was very comfortable. We had a bit of difficulty locating the address, as we forgot to look way up for the street number. But Dave was very kind in waiting for us and guiding us home. Parking is a bit of a challenge, there are car parks not too far but they are a bit pricy given the location. But I would definitely recommend it, and would be happy staying here again. Good exercise too!!

We loved St Giles St apartment.
Positives: Location, view, bedroom very comfortable, good exercise walking up the steps, washing machine, tips on small grocery stores in area. Location, location, location, views, views views.
Slight negatives: We had a heck of a time driving to the apartment. Locals had no idea had to get there as so many of the roads are closed. We did not have gps in our rental car (nor did we need/want one...until we drove around Edinburgh). It made check in stressful (didn't want to be late...) The noise from the street at night (partiers , etc) was a bit loud in the living room, and our kids were sleeping on a pullout couch. However, we would stay again and would use the service in the future.

Staying in Edinburgh for a week we could not have found a better location. Across from St. Giles Cath. and just a short walk from Waverly Station. Being on the 3rd floor (4th if you count the ground floor) the views up and down the Royal Mile were fabulous. The hike up the steps may be a bit much for some. We're both in our mid-fifties in moderate shape and handled them just fine. The accomadations were comfortable and in good condition. The newer leather sofas were very comfortable. The kitchen was more then adequate for the little cooking we did. If we return to Edinburgh we will definately try to stay here again'

St Giles was in a perfect location for seeing all of the main sites in Edinburgh as everything was a short walk away in all directions and so much going on right outside your door. I even saved a lot of money because I was able to stop in for meals throughout the day without it being inconvenient and for those who want to eat out there are so many places to choose from close by.
The apartment itself was beautifully decorated and comfortable with amazing views of the Royal Mile and St Giles Cathedral. I also loved the fireplace after coming in from the cold weather. The only reason I gave 4 stars for comfort is because the stairs up to the apartment can be a bit daunting after walking around the city all day for multiple days but not enough to deter me from wanting to stay here again.
Dave Stewart was also very professional, easy to get in touch with and always on time for check in & out. -

The St Giles Street flat is lovely. The furnishings are great, the views are nice and most importatnly it is in a great position. We loved just popping out and visiting something and then being able to go home and relax before our next trip. With a less central location you have to go in and stay in which can be tiring. HAving said that there are a lot of stairs to climb - six flights I think. I thought it was very good value.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 5 days and wish we were still there. The flat is small but lovely and plenty for two people. We didn't get cold at all either because between the gas fire and numerous heaters, the apartment was always cosy.
The location is really ideal too. If your first time in Edinburgh like it was for us it was brilliant to wake up and look out on the street and feel so immersed in the city. At the same time, the flat has double-glazed windows so it was never noisy outside.
I'll be recommending this flat to my parents when they come to Edinburgh in a couple of months! -

Great flat for two, maybe three people. Stairs can be a bad thing if don't get around well, but for the young at heart and mobile this is a very warm and cozy, private nest for an extended visit.
Street watching from above is almost as fun as getting out in it. Close views of St. Giles, the Hub, and the High St. are rivaled by the long-range view toward Pentland Hills to the south.
Property is well cared for and clean. Kitchen is stocked sufficiently for all except gourmet chefs I would imagine. Furniture is comfortable as is, and I understand new couches will arrive in March 2010. Building is a solid historic structure--never heard the neighbors around or above us (except sometimes the main door 3 floors down) and didn't feel like we were keeping them awake either. Everything you need to find or want to visit is within a short (but not always easy) walk. We never even had to use the bus system, which I understand is quite handy.
Glenn (owner) was extremely easy to work with and very forgiving of all my inane questions before arrival, and Dave Stewart, who will most likely be the one to meet you at the property, was very informative and helpful about how to get settled, where to find everything we would need, and how to contact him should we find ourselves at a loss. Just make sure to be waiting at the correct property entrance or risk a ribbing.
As much as there is to get out and do in this city, there were days that all we wanted to do was to stay here in the flat and watch the action on the street. It was that comfortable and familiar. We would stay here again in a heartbeat, but at the same time want to experience some of this owner's other properties because I'm sure they are just as welcoming.
Bottom line: as long as you know what you're getting into with the steps, you could not find a better flat than this one. -

Staying right on the Royal Mile in this self-catering flat was one of our best decisions of the trip. The location just can't be beat. You're literally a minute walk up to Edinburgh Castle and right in the heart of everything else. The flat itself was lovely - small, but more than adequate for two people. The views from the living room were beautiful and we loved coming "home" after walking all day. Waking up to fresh coffe (complimentary) and standing in the windows as the sun rose looking out on the Royal Mile was just perfect. If there had to be a negative, it would be all the stairs... but you can't have great views and such a brilliant location without having to use the stairs?! (Granted, we were also carrying 60lb. rucksacks on our backs up the three flights, so we weren't excited about them.) Both gentlemen who helped us "check in / out" were lovely to deal with and gave good restaurant recommendations. We're totally pleased with our experience at this location and with FlipKey and look forward to using their services again.

This apartment has it all. It's centrally located and you can watch the festivities from the livingroom windows without having to mingle with the throngs, if you don't want to.
The bedroom is cozy, and the kitchen functional, also with a great view.
The four flights of stairs kept me fit.
Don't expect peace and quiet, but it's a great location not only inspite of the noise but because of it. -

Warm, helpful and efficient service. Great location, walked everywhere, lovely light and city views from 3rd floor, not noisy even with Fringe events outside. Clean, basic slightly worn unpretentious furnishings and decor created a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. Crisp white sheets and plentiful towels.
Common stairwell peeling paint and grimy, no elevator, good for the thighs though! Area at head of bed(old fireplace)dirty, used for storing paint cans, and 3rd door of cupboard revealed filthy heater. -

After 4 days in busy London, we took the train to Edinburgy and walked about 4 blocks to our Awesome St. Giles apartment! We have 2 teenagers, and the 4 of us couldn't have been happier with our stay. This is in the heart of the Royal Mile and I would definitely plan to stay there again. 70 steps up...but it's worth it. Great view, fun to watch the hustling vendors below, but, quiet when you close the windows. Really far exceeded our expectations!

This apartment was ideally located right in the heart of Edinburgh on High Street. We enjoyed the stay. The amenities were fine and the bed comfortable. The bathroom shower was okay after we figured out how it worked with the electric heater. The best part was the living room view from the 3rd floor overlooking old St. Giles Cathedral and the Royal Mile. We would not recommend it for persons with walking problems or handicaps since the only way to reach the unit is to climb 3 flights of stairs (a total of 66 steps).

Loved the apartment. Felt really homely and had everything we needed for our 4 night stay. When we weren't out and about enjoying all that Edinburgh has to offer, we loved sitting by the huge windows to enjoy the views of the very busy Royal Mile...we like to people watch!! The location is perfect and we definitely intend booking the property again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends and family. As mentioned in some other reviews, the stairs accessing the flat wouldn't be suitable for all, but hey, you wouldn't get the terrific views if you weren't that high up!!

We (two adults) had a fabulous three nights at 6 St. Giles. The living
room windows are huge, filling the main room with light, and we
were blown away by the view of St. Giles Cathedral right outside.
Look up the street the other way and there's Edinburgh Castle.
You can't get much more central than this. The location was perfect
for exploring the Royal Mile as well as Princes Street and the
surrounding areas.
It was nice to have a kitchen and, although it took a little figuring
out, the washing machine did a good load of laundry for us. The
shower was nice and hot, the bed comfortable. We didn't have any
noise issues. Not that we watched a lot of television, but cable
reception was a little spotty at times.
The only way to get such a view is to climb quite a few stairs, so if
you are not easily mobile, you might want to find something closer
to the ground. -

This apartment was a lovely surprise. It is so well located, historical, private and clean. We would have loved to have stayed longer just to soak up the ambiance of the area. How lovely to have the faint sound of bagpipes during various times of the day from the street corner. With St. Giles just across the street, it made our visit to such a wonderful and historical city of Edinburgh even more meaningful. If you like to experience something other than the hotel routine, give this a try. The fellow who helped us with our luggage and during the stay could not have been more gracious! If we are fortunate enough to revisit, we will stay here again. Lovely memories. -

Travelling up on the train we were apprehensive about relying on hooking up with a stranger on the street to get our keys. No need to worry, all went well and we very soon took charge of our little apartment. I could hardly tear myself away from the view of St Giles and the Castle approach, imagining all the famous events that had happened there. We ate all our meals overlooking that view and had a wonderful time feeling part of the city in a way we haven't had in an hotel or a modern apartment block.
You need to be prepared for the physical challenge of climbing the stairs to the third floor. They proved a fine warm-up for the steep slopes around the Royal Mile and the walk to Arthur's Seat.
We have since recommended the apartment and the firm to other friends and family - they were all very happy. -

We had such a wonderful time there. It is located so perfectly in the center of the Royal Mile. The corner Lounge room offers a wonderful view of the Royal Mile as well as of St. Giles cathedral. It is very comfortably and well equipped,we felt really at home. The only negative thing to say were the very steep stairs to the third floor but that was said in the description. If we once come back to Edinburgh we would always stay at that wonderful place again!

This apartment was perfect. You cannot beat the location (right on the Royal Mile!) and the apartment itself was beautiful - light, airy, clean and perfectly appointed.
The climb up the stairs is not for the faint of heart, but it affords a great view of Edinburgh!
Cafes and pubs all within the block made it super-convenient for a quick bite, a long lunch, or a night out with a pint or two!

We have stayed in a number of different self-catering apartments in Edinburgh and this is definitely the best one we have stayed in and was very good value compared to others in similar location we had looked at before booking. We had a thoroughly enjoyable 5 night stay. The apartment is really well located for the railway station, restaurants, pubs, tourist attractions, which are all walkable. Our favoutite place to eat was a wine bar on Cockburn St. The lovely big windows in the large lounge let in lots of light and sun and you can watch the world go by if you don't fancy going out. Although the non-stop piper on the nearby corner can get a bit much if you have the windows open! Walking up and down the 3 flight of stairs can be viewed as good exercise - who needs a lift, eh?!! The bedroom is a good size and the double bed is very comfortable. However, don't think the apartment would really be suitable for 4 people as using the sofa bed would limit your use of the lounge unless you were all happy to go to bed at the same time. The position of the bathroom position, with borrowed light from the kitchen is a bit odd, but the bathroom itself with over-bath shower is fine.
We were greeted by a friendly and helpful person. All in all a really good apartment for couples. We would highly recommend it and would certainly book it again. -

ShropshireWonderful flat
Left on 06/01/2009 for a stay in May 2009
This flat is very well presented throughout. It has fantastic, huge, southfacing windows on 2 walls of the sitting room, looking out onto The Royal Mile, although you are 3 storeys up, so if you sit down you get blue sky and roof tops. The High Kirk is directly opposite and nicely lit at night. Being 70 steps up from the street didn't bother me, and the height meant less noise from the street, although I could still hear the bagpiper clearly as he played from 5-7pm every night just below.
The location is perfect - mostly pedestrianised so little traffic noise. 5 minutes walk from the castle and Princes Street, and 15 minutes from Holyrood Palace and thence into what feels like countryside with the Salisbury Crags and Arthur's Seat.
The flat is well-maintained and I couldn't hear the neighbours. There is a washing machine that also tumble-dries your clothes. All the rooms are well-proportioned with high ceilings and period features.
If you don't mind bag pipes and lots of steps this is definitely the place for you. Just bring a rucksack to get your shopping home from the supermarket! -

Cambridge, UKExcellent Location, Minor Irritations
Left on 05/31/2009 for a stay in May 2009
Overall, we had a wonderful stay at the apartment on St Giles. Couldn't have asked for a better location - we walked to everything we wanted to see (castle, Holyrood Park, shopping). We didn't actually spend much time in the apartment itself, but its location proved great for a quick bathroom break or to drop off purchases before continuing on to see more sites. The cons to the apartment were:
1) Arranging for key pick-up. I tried to make arrangements with our contact a week in advance, but was told that I needed to call him on the day of check-in, approximately one-hour before our arrival - he would not be able to arrange a meeting time before this. We were arriving in Edinburgh by rental car and called, as instructed, 1 hour before our estimated arrival. We were told that we would either need to arrive at the apartment in no more than an hour or would have to wait until much later in the afternoon to receive the key. Being as we needed to return our rental car and would not have any where else to store our luggage, this caused our final hour of driving into Edinburgh to be quite rushed and stressed. In the end, we arrived in time, but it would have been nice to know what time we needed to arrive a little earlier - it would have been no problem for us to plan an earlier departure for Edinburgh had we known.
2) We were left one roll of toilet paper meant to last 3 people for 3 days - it would have been nice to have a back-up roll.
3) Convertible sofa-bed in the living room was horribly uncomfortable. You should think twice if you are planning to use this.
4) The weekend night-life made for very noisy nights. We're heavy sleepers, so this didn't bother us much, but do consider that this apartment's extremely desirable location means you'll hear all of the bar patrons late into the night.Response from Edinburgh Self Catering - 05/31/2009
Manager
Entry to apartments is from 14:00 onwards simply to allow preparation time between previous guests departing at 10 am. If a guest requests early access, as was the case in this situation, Dave Stewart the person responsible for "meet and greets" will not actually know if this is a possible scenario until that actual day but will always endeavour to make it happen. In this situation guests are asked to still follow the instruction in the formal confirmation to telephone 1 hour prior to actual arrival (as there can be travel disruptions this prevents guests and Dave Stewart having to wait around unnecessarily at apartments) and then he will be in an excellent position to say if early entry can be obtained. When this guest telephoned he informed them early entry was possible but if they could not make it within the next hour they would have to wait until he had done another "meet and greet" elsewhere. As it turned they did make it and get earlier access to the apartment than the standard 14:00. Perhaps there was some confusion over the situation with early access ? I totally agree that sofa beds are no substitute for a real bed and I would always suggest to potential guests to consider two bedroom apartments before a 1 bedroom + sofa bed, if extra sleeping arrangements are required. St Giles is a very central city apartment and is equipped with secondary glazing in the lounge and bedroom to reduce noise pollution to nearly zero, perhaps one of the secondary glazing units had been inadvertently left open during the night ? Anyway glad to read these were minor irritations and overall the guest had a wonderful stay and I hope to see them back one day.

After previously staying in hotels in Edinburgh we decided to stay in a holiday rental for our Spring break - great idea!!
The St. Giles apartment was filled with character and centerally located for all the great sights the city has to offer.
Glen our host was very attentive to our needs and it was really good that we had someone to contact if we had any problems.
All in all probably the best stay we've had in Edinburgh and would recommend to anyone who is looking to stay in a comfortable and spacious apartment - one word of warning - you need to be reasonably fit, as no lift to the second floor. -

This is a truly beautiful flat and the amenities are second to none. The view of the Royal Mile is great and St Giles Cathedral is opposite-whats not to love. However!!!If you have any type of mobility problem better give it a miss. If I remember there are about 80 stone steps up to the apartment and after a day sightseeing half way up I lost the will to live and like Kermit, half way up the stair was the stair where I sit!!!!I had to do the stairs in a relay fashion. That said, if you are fit and healthy go for it, it is gorgeous, and so very central, and surprisingly quiet.

We stayed at 6 St Giles St for one week during the festival. The location was fantastic, oppositie St Giles Cathedral, right on the Royal Mile, with the castle just up the road. In fact, we could see and hear the Tattoo performers when they marched down to The Hub at the end of the show. The apartment was within walking distance to everything; festival shows, the Tattoo, heaps of restaurants and the major tourist attractions. We could sit in the lounge room and watch the buskers opposite in the square in from of St Giles. The apartment itself was very comfortable, clean and roomy; the kitchen had everything we wanted and the washingmachine/dryer was very convenient. 6 St Giles Street is location, location, location.

Elegant accomodations this is not. If you have trouble on stairs this is not the place for you. It is an old building, and the floors creaked. BUT- this flat was neat, clean, functional, and above all, in an outstanding location. Right in the middle of the Royal Mile, and across the street from the Cathedral. The Princes Street Gardens and Waverley Station are within walking distance (again more stairs, depending on which direction you take) The people that we dealt with, both on-line and in person, were friendly and cooperative. We will definitely stay there on our next trip to Edinburgh. As the Scots say "Haste ye back."

Great location on Edinburgh's Royal Mile central to everything. Nicely appointed apartment with every amenity one needs. The owner has several high end apartments spread across Edinburgh, all of them well furnished and beautifully maintained. I have stayed at some of his other apartments and have no hesitation in recommending them. This particular apartment at St.Giles street is a three story walk up so its not suitable for those who have mobility impairment. The views from the living room are to die for. You simply are NOT going to find better value for money in Edinburgh.

famous of Edinburgh's attractions. Being right on the Royal Mile was
fantastic. It kept us in the heart of the city - with all the excitement -
while still feeling like we were in a safe and comfortable place. Within
one day, our apartment became our home away from home. It allowed

This apartment was in the most perfect place to visit so many sites, walk to wonderful restaurants and bus stations. The apartment itself was more than efficient for our needs. Large bed, wonderful shower, sufficient kitchen. The view from the living room windows were super, so much fun to look out the windows at all times of the day and night to see what was going on, to hear the sounds from up and down the street, to see the castle one way and the chapel the other. Walking is very much recommended to really get to feel like you're part of the city and the people. It's been two years and I still see it all so vividly and have the greatest memories. There were only two tiny drawbacks: the apartment is on the third floor (no elevator), and the sofa needed to be replaced because it had no support in the cushions, but the beauty of the historic building, the cleanliness of the apartment, the view from the apartment, and the location all made it worth the exercise provided by the three flights of stairs. And the contact person and owner were absolutely wonderful to work with through the entire process, answering dozens of questions, understanding when our luggage didn't arrive at the airport and we had no idea what to do so we called them. I wish all our international trips were this wonderful and perfect. We hope to go back sometime, and this is where I'll want to stay. Highly recommended.

We have rented many vacation apartments in Europe, and this was one of the best. It was well equipped, and very comfortable. The location is in the middle of everything you want to see, and it is fun to people watch from the view in the apartment.
The stairs is the one downside. While they didn't ruin our stay, and gave us some good exercise, they did surprise us a little. The Apartment was advertised as a 3th floor apartment. Since we are familar with Europe, we knew this was an American 4th floor, and there would be 3 flights of stairs. Not all people know this however. Also, since the ceilings are high, each flight was more like 1and 1/2 flights. -
