About Sun Peaks

Sun Peaks, British Columbia, is a year-round resort that manages to maintain a delicate balancing act between nature and convenience.

In winter the alpine-like village is full of people having fun in the snow, while the summer months attract golfers, mountain bikers, and hikers to the resort. FlipKey has properties for every type of vacation, just take a look!

About Sun Peaks

At the heart of British Columbia and about an hour from Kamloops, Sun Peaks is an affordable family friendly destination.

With a diverse terrain of 4,270 acres spread between Tod, Sundance and Morrisey mountains, Sun Peaks is the second largest ski area in Canada, after Whistler Blackcomb.

Sun Peaks has 135 trails that include 16 designated for Nordic Skiing and 882 meters of vertical skiing to suit all abilities, ranging from bunny slopes to double black diamond.

It's a European-style ski village that includes condominiums, restaurants, bars and shops. This exciting resort developed into a year-round destination with the introduction of the highest elevation golf course in Canada. The 18-hole, par 72 Graham Cooke-designed course is built along the valley floor and provides a challenge for even the lowest handicapped golfer.

As well as golf, the summer months feature horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, fishing and stand-up paddle boarding among the many activities on offer.

What to do in Sun Peaks

In the winter, Sun Peaks is everything that a skiing trip should be. A variety of slopes, miles of cross country slopes and a relaxing fireplace with a glass of mulled wine to help you plan out the next day’s adventure.

If you fancy a break from the skiing, how about leading a team of huskies from the back of a dog sled? This fun tour is not only jam packed with excitement, but also gives you a chance to meet the dogs and learn about this ancient tradition.

Ever tried ice fishing? Here is your chance to spend half a day on a frozen glacial lake fishing for mountain rainbow trout.

During the summer, try cross country mountain biking through the woods or, for the ultimate adrenalin rush, take you bike on the cable car up mount Tod for an incredible downhill ride.

Top Sun Peaks travel tips

Winter or summer… there is never a bad time to visit Sun Peaks, but, like other popular resorts try and visit midweek to avoid the weekend crowds.

After your first day on the slopes you’ll most probably wake up with a few aches and pains which can be solved with a soothing massage from Hands on the Move.

For a chance to get to know your fellow vacationers, consider going on a moonlight snowshoe and campfire cookout. The tour begins with a kilometer walk through the forest before arriving at a purpose-built campsite where you can cook sausages and roast marshmallows on a roaring fire.

Sun Peaks is what Whistler was 20+ years ago, a family-friendly resort with affordable prices. To book a condominium in the alpine village check out FlipKey for a choice of accommodations.

Karin's Sun Peaks Retreat
Our stay at Karin & Yannick's condo were wonderful!

The place was very clean, classy and had a good view of the mountains especially from the jacuzzi. We had a relaxing time and enjoyed every minute of our stay at Sun Peaks. The condo was very close to the village so we had a chance to experience the farmer's market, concert, clown show and had the best pizza we have ever tasted (thanks to Mountain High Pizza). The whole family had a wonderful time. We'll be back again for sure. We have already recommended this place to our families, friends & co-workers. We give it a score of 9 out of 10 (with 10 being the highest).see more
Birchnest at Settler's Crossing
Wonderful Winter Get away!

Very clean, comfortable, & quiet condo. Nicely decorated...loved the Finnish artwork & decorations. Well appointed kitchen with everything we needed for preparing snacks & meals. Nice hot tub with view of mountain. Very comfortable bed in master bedroom. Settlers Crossing in close proximity to friends who own at Stones Throw and other friends who rented at Woodhaven. Easy walking distance to village and access to snowshoe & cross country trails. Easy to get to Morrisey Chair lift.see more
