VANCOUVER ISLAND - ELES ESCAPE B and B by the SEA

Lantzville b&b

  • 2 bedrooms
  • 1 bathroom
  • sleeps 2

“We'll be back!” If you're looking for someplace with attentiveness to all the details and more, Ele's Escape is it! Pet-friendly was my first clue it would be wonderful. But I had no idea the food would be so spectacular, the guest room filled with unexpected fun and comfort ( think amazing chocolate, homemade cookies, soft robes and lots more...). The bed was soo soft and cozy, the ocean within view and a 1 minute walk and the hosts incredible. Informative, welcoming and fun, they are some of the best we've experienced. A fantastic place to rejuvinate and play! Click on that reserve button and give yourself (and your pup!) a great gift! Mary M.

EAGLE'S AERIE VACATION RENTAL

Qualicum Beach cottage

  • 1 bedroom
  • 1 bathroom
  • sleeps 4

“Oh! such beautiful beach!” We did enjoy a lot our stay at Easgle's aerie. Sandy is a very nice hostess, very friendly. The appartment is clean, well decorated; kitchen is well furnished so we could cook the fresh seafood bought at the marina at French Creek. And now, the lanscape! It is gorgeous; beach is clean and easy to walk on at low-tide. Unfortunately, the eagles were on vacation on the continent as Sandy tells. Even though, the appartment is not oceanfront, we had total access to the patios and garden in front of their home.

“Right on the beach” I have stayed here often and every time it has been awesome. The hot tub on the front deck is located for privacy and the view is spectacular from inside or out. The cottages are bordered by evergreens on each side of the property, there are only two cottages on the property so booking far in advance is a good idea. A small mall is just a few hundred yards away, with a grocery store, pub and liquor store, drugstore and more

Tanglewood Beach House - West Coast Living at its best.

Parksville house

  • 2 bedrooms

“Woodland setting and close to ocean, but still close to all amen” I have stayed at a lot of different rental properties and can honestly say that the Tanglewood Beach House is one of the best I have stayed at. They have a great book that the owners created outlining the area and what there is to do. It also includes a reference guide for the condo on simple things but things that if you don't live there you wouldn't know how to turn certain things on/off and which remote does what. The kitchen also has everything you need to cook with.

“Bliss!” You won't be disappointed with this lovely condo. The view is spectacular with amazing sunrises and sunsets, the fresh scent of sea air and the accomodation is terrific. There's lots of room to spread out and enjoy. This was our second year at this condo and we decided that we'll be regular visitors year after year - it's just that good! We find that we can't help but unwind and relax here and each visit we plan to spend at few days on site (instead of venturing out) taking in the sea, relaxing beside the pool or having a swim and beach combing! Roz has thought of everything in the unit so you just need to bring your personal effects and you'll be well taken care of. The unit is very clean, beds and pillows are comfortable and there's no traces of pets from previous visits. The complex is very well maintained with a playground for the little ones, tennis court, several patios with Weber bbqs for everyone to use, pool and hot tub, poolside lounge chairs as well as tables and chairs, firepit, dock for your boat or perhaps fishing, even a herb garden. Looking forward to next year already!

“Great location!!!” We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Palmer House. The location was fantastic...a block from ocean, close to the grocery store, and we could easily walk to Beacon Hill Park and downtown. The house itself was very cozy and nicely furnished. It was also great to have off-street parking. Trish & Rick were lovely hosts and very accomodating. I have highly recommended this house to friends and family visiting Victoria and would most certainly stay again.

“Wow your place is such a restful spot” Jeannie, we can't thank you enough for hosting my wife and I recently at Beachwood Cottage. Your place was everything that we could have hoped for and more. It was the perfect nest for us to relax in the sun, breath in the ocean-fresh air, observe the birds and wild life and pick fresh tasty vegetables from your garden for our salad. When we arrived it was clean and as described on the web-site. What a welcoming experience. Thanks again and we both would't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for great value in a natural setting. Dick and Elaine Kirby

“What a great find!” My husband and I stayed here with our toddler and some extended family in an adjacent suite. Everybody had such an enjoyable and comfortable stay. Both suites were well-equipped and clean. The location was perfect - close to ocean, downtown and Cook Street Village. The host, Sarah, went above and beyond to help make our stay memorable. She was available to answer questions we had about touring around, was quick to replenish supplies when needed, and even allowed my daughter (who loves animals) play with her gentle dog who stays in the backyard. Overall, I couldn't recommend this more highly. You'll be happy with your choice to stay here.

“A Little Taste of Heaven” This was our 8th trip to the Resort, and have stayed in this condo the last 5 years...What a wonderful place to stay and get some rest & relaxation. The resort is beautiful & there's always something to see & do if you wish. The condo is all you can possibly want - large & airy, well-furnished and a great kitchen! The views are spectacular and you feel as if you are the only ones there. The privacy of this unit is great - yet you're close to everything - firepit by the water, pool, hot tub, tennis courts, bbq patio and even a kiddie play area. During our month here we saw pods of whales, seals, otters, hummingbirds & lots of eagles from our balcony. We even went clamming @ low tide and had 3 feasts of crab caught off the end of the dock! What more could you ask for? This place is what we consider a little taste of heaven on the west coast, and after a month here, returning to ONtario makes us look forward to returning again next spring.

“A Great Place to Stay!” When my husband & I were without residence due to our house being sold really quickly and us not being able to find appropriate accommodations, we were lucky enough to stay at the Two Eagles B&B; while continuing to search for new digs. What a fantastic place, and Carolyn & Steve are terrific hosts and friends. The view is wonderful, it's hard to get up to such a great view knowing that it's only temporary. The property is ideal and we felt so completely at home while there. If there is anywhere someone wants to get away too, it should be Two Eagles B&B;, we can't say enough good things about the place and Carolyn & Steve!

NEW BEACHFRONT CONDO - ULTIMATE UNOBSTRUCTED VIEWS

Nanaimo apartment

“Peaceful Oasis” We had the extreme pleasure of staying at Patricia and Scott's condo. What a magical place. The location could not have been better. Waking up in the morning with the ocean alongside the master bedroom and then spending the day gazing out at the unobstructed views. It took me an hour to jealously wander about the condo in awe of all of the perfect details. Everything was though of - you could easily host a dinner party for 8 here and not be missing a thing. We have stayed at the most exclusive resorts on the Island, but never have we felt as if we were truly coming "home" when we returned to our suite, like we did here. We have adopted the condo, and I have adopted the perfectly situated chaise lounge for hours of reading and gazing. It is dead quiet, with lots to observe in the ocean... that bay is always changing. We did a short (6km) hike nearby and strolled on the beach. Dug up and steamed clams as well as shucked oysters off the beach and pan fried them. Cannot wait to return! Thanks Patricia and Scott! Luxury downtown condo, steps to Inner Harbor!!!

Victoria apartment

“This property was fantastic!” My family of five adults recently (July 2012) stayed at this condo just steps from almost everything in downtown Victoria. The apartment is well appointed, and furnished with more daily necessities than many vacation rentals. It was also exceptionally clean. These observations and several conversations with the owners showed that they are clearly interested in the comfort and well-being of their guests. Having to carry or buy dish soap, bathroom tissue, and the like for a stay of a week or less , something we faced in other properties on our trip, is a real turn-off. Thanks again for everything. Our family enthusiastically recommends Heart of Victoria for visitors to that unique city.

About Vancouver Island

On the western coast of Canada, bordered by the Pacific Ocean and the Powell River, Vancouver Island is home to mile after protected mile of Pacific Northwest paradise. The best way to experience this incredible natural treasure trove is to get outside and go exploring.

Hiking trails wind through the temperate rainforest and along the rocky coastline in Pacific Rim National Park and Cape Scott Provincial Park. To explore sandy beaches, coves and tide pools, spend some time in Rathtrevor Provincial Park or take a boat out onto the blue waters of Tribune Bay.

For a truly exhilarating experience, join the growing numbers of visitors who come here for storm watching opportunities in the Pacific Rim. Many established storm-watching outfitters can provide rain gear and a safe location from which to watch dramatic thunderstorms.

No matter which parks and trails you choose, Vancouver will keep you busy if you enjoy hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, rock climbing, bird watching, or cave exploration.

Here are a few additional suggestions for your trip:

  • Go whale watching: It's almost impossible not to see whales around Vancouver. A guided boat excursion can take you to the best places to spot orcas, humpbacks, minkes and greys.
  • Visit the U'Mista Cultural Center: Located in Alert Bay, the Cultural Center is an excellent place to learn more about the First Nations people who predate Europeans in this area by thousands of years.
  • Take a tour of the Bastion: This strange octagonal building was constructed in 1852 with notched squared timbers that have been fitted together without nails.
  • Explore Cathedral Grove: The western red cedars and Douglas firs of Cathedral Grove are some of the oldest in the world. They are magnificent representations of the temperate rainforest.
  • Visit Fort Rod Hill: Fort Rod Hill is a restored artillery fort built to defend Victoria and the Esquimalt Naval Base. The Fisgard Lighthouse on the site was the first lighthouse on the Canadian west coast.
  • Visit the Shaw Ocean Discovery Center: Learn more about the marine life of the Gulf Islands, including jellies, rockfish, octopus and even sea stars and sea urchins in touch pools.

No matter what time of year you arrive on Vancouver Island, you'll have no trouble finding a perfect place to stay. Book a cozy cabin with a fireplace, or if you intend to spend as much time as possible out on the water, rent a lakeside summer house or ocean villa a few steps away from the beach.

A Charming Suite
excellent hideaway

Availability of full kitchen was very helpful in keeps costs down and increasing the flexibility of our stay. The only down side was the lack of a usable pairing knife. it was hard to efficiently cut vegetables with the supplied serrated knives. Also, the addition of a stanard wooden cutting board would be nice.see more

Wow, beautiful little hideaway! Place lived up to it's description. Only the 2 of us, so plenty of space. We were away on a little vacay and it was all that and more. Close to the beach for beach walking or having a small fire, which we did both. We enjoyed local brew and pizza. Awesome!! Went on a few hikes, nothing to strenuous but wonderful, did a little beach combing. All in all, had an amazing weekend, would most definitely come back! Oh, to add to it, we found out our parents had stayed here years ago and they also loved it!!see more

Wonderful stay

It was an excellent stay for us. We all had a good time there. The outdoor pool is a blast. If I were to be picky, I noticed that there are some small things can be done to make the experience even better. The middle draw handle is loose, it makes it hard to open. The lid to the big pot is missing, we are a family of 6, it actually is the most usefuly kitchen item for us, without the lid, we are forced to use the small ones. But overall, we all enjoyed our stay, thanks Tammy for sharing your beautiful home. We'll be back again.see more

Lovely place for a getaway

Lovely home with all the amenities you’d expect, and then lots more. Lots of games and beach toys available, the kitchen had every tool you might need, and not having to pack our own beach towels was terrific. Plenty of space with two bedrooms and two bathrooms and everything was clean and updated. A very relaxing stay.see more
EAGLE'S AERIE VACATION RENTAL
The Perfect Beach Getaway

We had an amazing 4 night stay at the cottage. Much of our time was spent at the beach adjacent to their home! They provided beach chairs and toys for our son to play with too. The cottage was very cozy and comfortable with all the necessary amenities. We were able to BBQ and relax on the patio, but the kitchen is also fully stocked for cooking meals. Their home is centrally located between qualicum and parksville, with plenty of nearby activities. We brought our bikes and Sandy (host) was kind enough to draw out directions to mooberry farm (a must visit if you stay here!). We had a fantastic stay and we did not want to leave...we will recommend your wonderful little cottage to all of our family and friends and certainly look forward to our return!see more
