EAGLE'S AERIE

Qualicum Beach cottage

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“Oh! such beautiful beach!” We did enjoy a lot our stay at Easgle's aerie. Sandy is a very nice hostess, very friendly. The appartment is clean, well decorated; kitchen is well furnished so we could cook the fresh seafood bought at the marina at French Creek. And now, the lanscape! It is gorgeous; beach is clean and easy to walk on at low-tide. Unfortunately, the eagles were on vacation on the continent as Sandy tells. Even though, the appartment is not oceanfront, we had total access to the patios and garden in front of their home.

Applewood Cottage, Courtenay, Vancouver Island, BC

Courtenay cottage

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“Great Cottage for Young Families” We booked the Applewood Cottage for a week along with my sister and brother in law and their children. There were eight of us all together, four young children and four adults. We really enjoyed our stay here! The cottage was welcoming and very well-stocked for all our needs. We took full advantage of the back deck and ate most of our meals out there as well as serving as a playspace for the kids. We would definitely all come back and it made a great home base for our time on the Island!

Cozy Creative Romantic Heron Cottage

Tofino cottage

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 2

“Rustic and romantic!” We had a great stay at the Heron Cottage. Pat was very gracious in accommodating our request to check in a couple of hours early to maximize our day. The cottage itself is very comfortable and the perfect size for a couple's getaway. We loved the extra touches put in to decorating and furnishing it. The kitchen was very well stocked for cooking and the gas fireplace was awesome in rainy weather. Super comfy bed, too! The location is great, we were even close enough to walk to Shelter for dinner. The shower on the deck was so invigorating on a cold, rainy day or night. Not an experience you get very often! We found this to be perfect for a romantic weekend getaway, and the house on the property looks great for our next trip with family! A great deal for Tofino!

VANCOUVER ISLAND - ELES ESCAPE B and B by the SEA

Lantzville b and b

2 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 2

“We'll be back!” If you're looking for someplace with attentiveness to all the details and more, Ele's Escape is it! Pet-friendly was my first clue it would be wonderful. But I had no idea the food would be so spectacular, the guest room filled with unexpected fun and comfort ( think amazing chocolate, homemade cookies, soft robes and lots more...). The bed was soo soft and cozy, the ocean within view and a 1 minute walk and the hosts incredible. Informative, welcoming and fun, they are some of the best we've experienced. A fantastic place to rejuvinate and play! Click on that reserve button and give yourself (and your pup!) a great gift! Mary M.

Beachwood Cottage, Lovely Private Waterfront

Victoria cottage

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 3

“A small slice of heaven” The cottage has everything one could possibly want when you want to get away. Lovely views from just about every angle in a fun and funky little home. It has a nice comfortable bed and a great little day bed to sit and look out over the peaceful cove on which it sits. If you seek seclusion and tranquility but still being close to the action of Victory city you would do well to stay here. Jeannie is a great host, giving you an introduction to the place and there if needed but otherwise being unobtrusive and allowing you to enjoy your vacation. If I find myself in Victoria again, I will definitely be staying here.

New Luxury Condo~Steps to Ocean~Panoramic View

Nanaimo hotel apartment

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Truly a perfect retreat...” Your condo is truly the perfect retreat. It is a paradise exactly as described. I only wish I had been able to stay longer then a week to enjoy everything about it. It's heavenly to sit on the deck and just take in the scenery and wildlife around you. And honestly, there are so many windows you can enjoy the view from inside the condo as well. Simply a beautiful place, inside and out. All the comforts of home (and more). Even cooking wasn't a chore in such a gorgeous kitchen. We had family as guests for dinner one night and they have lived in various parts of BC and alberta for years and even they were impressed with your condo and the view. I had such good sleeps; the beds are awesome! Waking to the beautiful sunrise each morning was amazing...I kept the blinds up so I wouldn't miss it. And then one morning, the unexpected (and the highlight of my week). I was watching the birds gather on the water and then I noticed a seal, then there were three, then there were a dozen, probably more. While watching them, I heard a noise and I couldn't believe my eyes...it was killer whales...not one, not two, but at least 6!!! And with the binoculars you had in the condo we could watch them long after they were not visible to the eye. They came back to visit us the next day as well. :-) Never in my dreams did I think I would witness nature like that. Amazing experience. You certainly do everything to ensure your guests enjoy their stay and I will highly recommend your condo to everyone I know in Ontario. I hope we can get back soon!!.

About Vancouver Island

×

On the western coast of Canada, bordered by the Pacific Ocean and the Powell River, Vancouver Island is home to mile after protected mile of Pacific Northwest paradise. The best way to experience this incredible natural treasure trove is to get outside and go exploring.

Hiking trails wind through the temperate rainforest and along the rocky coastline in Pacific Rim National Park and Cape Scott Provincial Park. To explore sandy beaches, coves and tide pools, spend some time in Rathtrevor Provincial Park or take a boat out onto the blue waters of Tribune Bay.

For a truly exhilarating experience, join the growing numbers of visitors who come here for storm watching opportunities in the Pacific Rim. Many established storm-watching outfitters can provide rain gear and a safe location from which to watch dramatic thunderstorms.

No matter which parks and trails you choose, Vancouver will keep you busy if you enjoy hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, rock climbing, bird watching, or cave exploration.

Here are a few additional suggestions for your trip:

  • Go whale watching: It's almost impossible not to see whales around Vancouver. A guided boat excursion can take you to the best places to spot orcas, humpbacks, minkes and greys.
  • Visit the U'Mista Cultural Center: Located in Alert Bay, the Cultural Center is an excellent place to learn more about the First Nations people who predate Europeans in this area by thousands of years.
  • Take a tour of the Bastion: This strange octagonal building was constructed in 1852 with notched squared timbers that have been fitted together without nails.
  • Explore Cathedral Grove: The western red cedars and Douglas firs of Cathedral Grove are some of the oldest in the world. They are magnificent representations of the temperate rainforest.
  • Visit Fort Rod Hill: Fort Rod Hill is a restored artillery fort built to defend Victoria and the Esquimalt Naval Base. The Fisgard Lighthouse on the site was the first lighthouse on the Canadian west coast.
  • Visit the Shaw Ocean Discovery Center: Learn more about the marine life of the Gulf Islands, including jellies, rockfish, octopus and even sea stars and sea urchins in touch pools.

No matter what time of year you arrive on Vancouver Island, you'll have no trouble finding a perfect place to stay. Book a cozy cabin with a fireplace, or if you intend to spend as much time as possible out on the water, rent a lakeside summer house or ocean villa a few steps away from the beach.
