VANCOUVER ISLAND - ELES ESCAPE B and B by the SEA

Lantzville b&b

2 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 2

“We'll be back!” If you're looking for someplace with attentiveness to all the details and more, Ele's Escape is it! Pet-friendly was my first clue it would be wonderful. But I had no idea the food would be so spectacular, the guest room filled with unexpected fun and comfort ( think amazing chocolate, homemade cookies, soft robes and lots more...). The bed was soo soft and cozy, the ocean within view and a 1 minute walk and the hosts incredible. Informative, welcoming and fun, they are some of the best we've experienced. A fantastic place to rejuvinate and play! Click on that reserve button and give yourself (and your pup!) a great gift! Mary M.

EAGLE'S AERIE

Qualicum Beach cottage

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“Oh! such beautiful beach!” We did enjoy a lot our stay at Easgle's aerie. Sandy is a very nice hostess, very friendly. The appartment is clean, well decorated; kitchen is well furnished so we could cook the fresh seafood bought at the marina at French Creek. And now, the lanscape! It is gorgeous; beach is clean and easy to walk on at low-tide. Unfortunately, the eagles were on vacation on the continent as Sandy tells. Even though, the appartment is not oceanfront, we had total access to the patios and garden in front of their home.

“Fantastic location with beautiful views!” The location is great for access to National Parks, islands, the West coast and Victoria. Restaurants and shops are conveniently located within a few minutes' drive. The house seems brand new, it's clean, comfortable, well-equipped and has the most unbelievable views of the bay and sunrise. I highly recommend renting the Buckley Bay Beach house. Enjoy the deck, yard, beach and hot tub!

Campbell River log cabin

“Right on the beach” I have stayed here often and every time it has been awesome. The hot tub on the front deck is located for privacy and the view is spectacular from inside or out. The cottages are bordered by evergreens on each side of the property, there are only two cottages on the property so booking far in advance is a good idea. A small mall is just a few hundred yards away, with a grocery store, pub and liquor store, drugstore and more

“The most decadent, relaxing and quite holidays on the Pacific O” The condo was fully stocked. There were games for kids as well as small rabbits running around the grounds. The view of the Ocean was superb. There was nothing left to want for. The decor was was tasteful and very comfortable. I would and have recommended this property to others. The location was amazing. “Wow your place is such a restful spot” Jeannie, we can't thank you enough for hosting my wife and I recently at Beachwood Cottage. Your place was everything that we could have hoped for and more. It was the perfect nest for us to relax in the sun, breath in the ocean-fresh air, observe the birds and wild life and pick fresh tasty vegetables from your garden for our salad. When we arrived it was clean and as described on the web-site. What a welcoming experience. Thanks again and we both would't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for great value in a natural setting. Dick and Elaine Kirby

Tanglewood Beach House - West Coast Living at its best.

Parksville house

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 4

“Woodland setting and close to ocean, but still close to all amen” I have stayed at a lot of different rental properties and can honestly say that the Tanglewood Beach House is one of the best I have stayed at. They have a great book that the owners created outlining the area and what there is to do. It also includes a reference guide for the condo on simple things but things that if you don't live there you wouldn't know how to turn certain things on/off and which remote does what. The kitchen also has everything you need to cook with.

About Vancouver Island

On the western coast of Canada, bordered by the Pacific Ocean and the Powell River, Vancouver Island is home to mile after protected mile of Pacific Northwest paradise. The best way to experience this incredible natural treasure trove is to get outside and go exploring.

Hiking trails wind through the temperate rainforest and along the rocky coastline in Pacific Rim National Park and Cape Scott Provincial Park. To explore sandy beaches, coves and tide pools, spend some time in Rathtrevor Provincial Park or take a boat out onto the blue waters of Tribune Bay.

For a truly exhilarating experience, join the growing numbers of visitors who come here for storm watching opportunities in the Pacific Rim. Many established storm-watching outfitters can provide rain gear and a safe location from which to watch dramatic thunderstorms.

No matter which parks and trails you choose, Vancouver will keep you busy if you enjoy hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, rock climbing, bird watching, or cave exploration.

Here are a few additional suggestions for your trip:

  • Go whale watching: It's almost impossible not to see whales around Vancouver. A guided boat excursion can take you to the best places to spot orcas, humpbacks, minkes and greys.
  • Visit the U'Mista Cultural Center: Located in Alert Bay, the Cultural Center is an excellent place to learn more about the First Nations people who predate Europeans in this area by thousands of years.
  • Take a tour of the Bastion: This strange octagonal building was constructed in 1852 with notched squared timbers that have been fitted together without nails.
  • Explore Cathedral Grove: The western red cedars and Douglas firs of Cathedral Grove are some of the oldest in the world. They are magnificent representations of the temperate rainforest.
  • Visit Fort Rod Hill: Fort Rod Hill is a restored artillery fort built to defend Victoria and the Esquimalt Naval Base. The Fisgard Lighthouse on the site was the first lighthouse on the Canadian west coast.
  • Visit the Shaw Ocean Discovery Center: Learn more about the marine life of the Gulf Islands, including jellies, rockfish, octopus and even sea stars and sea urchins in touch pools.

No matter what time of year you arrive on Vancouver Island, you'll have no trouble finding a perfect place to stay. Book a cozy cabin with a fireplace, or if you intend to spend as much time as possible out on the water, rent a lakeside summer house or ocean villa a few steps away from the beach.

Lovely place for a getaway

Lovely home with all the amenities you’d expect, and then lots more. Lots of games and beach toys available, the kitchen had every tool you might need, and not having to pack our own beach towels was terrific. Plenty of space with two bedrooms and two bathrooms and everything was clean and updated. A very relaxing stay.see more

The Perfect Beach Getaway

We had an amazing 4 night stay at the cottage. Much of our time was spent at the beach adjacent to their home! They provided beach chairs and toys for our son to play with too. The cottage was very cozy and comfortable with all the necessary amenities. We were able to BBQ and relax on the patio, but the kitchen is also fully stocked for cooking meals. Their home is centrally located between qualicum and parksville, with plenty of nearby activities. We brought our bikes and Sandy (host) was kind enough to draw out directions to mooberry farm (a must visit if you stay here!). We had a fantastic stay and we did not want to leave...we will recommend your wonderful little cottage to all of our family and friends and certainly look forward to our return!see more

Serenity in your backyard

This place was amazing. If you are looking for a peaceful place, with quick access to everything you need this is the place for you. We arrived at night and we knew that the water was close as we could hear it hitting the shore. When we woke up, we were pleasantly surprised that we could see the water from the private balcony area. So I relaxed, sipped my coffee an played some cards while I sat and listened to the water. I took a dip in the amazing hot tub and watched the boats in the water and than came back and was able to cook a nice meal for my family as this unit had everything that we needed. The next day, we explored the shoreline and collected seashells and spotted wildlife. If you want to get away from the city, this is the place for you.see more

Port Renfrew, gorgeous!

Beautiful! The house was fantastic! The view was spectacular! The distance from Victoria is 2 1/2 hours, on a log type road. But when you arrive and see the water, boats, trees and etc right off the deck it is so worth it. Great for outdoor type of people. House was well furnished, beds pretty comfortable. Take groceries with you. Restaurants there were really good. House has stairs to get to it. And stairs inside the house. We loved exploring the area. Good experience.see more
Spectacular Oceanfront Contemporary B&B
Beautiful views, relaxing atmosphere, gracious hostess and convenient location.

We were visiting Victoria for the Junior's Hockey World Championship and wanted to stay in a location that was not a hotel, yet convenient to nearby attractions. Anita and JC were wonderful - even though it was during the holidays, they made us feel so welcome and could not do enough to make our stay more pleasant. We stayed a second week, after the tournament, and it was a good as the first- better, since we now felt "at home". We enjoyed chatting about our "adventures" and sharing wine and cheese the last evening of our stay.see more
