Description from the owner

From the guest book:

We have lived in five different apartments in Florence over the last six years, and pinti 1 is easily our favorite; we lived there for over three months last year. It is beautifully and comfortably furnished, it is stylish, and it clearly shows the love and care of its owner, Mrs. Claudia Morace. Borgo Pinti is a quiet, mostly pedestrian street. It is off the;tourist track, yet within easy walking distance to the historic center of the city. San Ambrogio market, the best market in Florence, is about seven minutes down the street. The apartment is on the top floor of a quiet building, up manageable flights of stai...Read more

      Ideal In Every Way!

Left on 04/22/2013 for a stay in April 2013

From the moment of my first email I was met by prompt, friendly and caring Claudia. Claudia not only responded to all of my questions regarding her beautiful apartment, but also provided additional direction and assistance in my many questions as we assembled our visit to Italy.
Upon our arrival in Florence via train a short taxi ride brought us to the door of Borgo Pinti 1. We were warmly greeted by Claudia and her assistant Martina. Claudia gave us a complete tour of her lovely apartment, providing very helpful information and detail. The apartment was bright, well equipped and spotless. A beautiful tray of fresh fruit on the table, Claudia's own olive oil, coffee for breakfast are just a few of the personal touches that welcomed us.
We were within walking distance to all of the sights of Florence. The restaurant directly across the street, Accadi Trattoria, as recommended by Claudia, proved to be one of our favorites. Additional information, maps, even a cell phone were available for our use, as well as free wi-fi which was such a convenience.
One of my special pleasures was to open the windows to view and absorb the sights, hear the sounds and take in Florence. This apartment was truly a comfort in every way.
We want to thank you Claudia for making our visit to Florence, Greve and Chianti memories that we will never forget. We are appreciative and consider you a true friend. You are a beautiful lady Claudia!

      A Merchant-Ivory experience ( think room with a view )

Left on 01/31/2013 for a stay in December 2012

As in a dream, I arrived at Claudia's apartment 2 on Borgo Pinti on December 5, 2012 to spend several months in Florence. The apartment was enchanting, full of old-world character and charm. The location was within walking distance to everything Florence has to offer and often I found myself walking out to explore with no game plan whatsoever.
I quickly learned that rain in Florence is negotiable. The umbrellas of the Florentines, however, are not. I learned to duck between them under the generous hood of my coat if I planned to get anywhere at all!
My first trip was to visit andrea amadei at his Enoteca on Borgo Pinti 8. I had read about his splendid knowledge of Italian wines and I planned to stock up. I tasted many wines, learned the history of each region, and bought well within my budget. He became a wealth of knowledge for my family and we stopped in daily.
The second place I explored was the Mercato Sant ambrogio with its brilliantly colorful displays. It became a morning ritual, just a few minutes away...a cappuccino across the street, and a cruise through that marketplace for vegetables of all shapes and sizes, Mozzarella di Bufala, prosciutto, tangerines, fresh spices, and wonderful breads.
In Florence, my family whirled like dervishes through the mazes of old brick, cathedrals, stunning galleries, and historical grandeur. We ate like thieves, everything and everywhere. The flavors of Tuscany are pure and honest and tne food is consistently good, so recommending restaurants is difficult. We liked Coco Lezzone, Natalino, Trattoria Za Za, Osterria dei Benci, Trattoria Sostanza, and our favorite Birreria Centtrale on Piazza Cimatore.
And catch Maria Cassi at Teatro del Sale.
We plan to return to Claudia's magical space on Borgo Pinti very soon. You should too.

      This is home!

Left on 01/25/2013 for a stay in October 2011

We have lived in four other apartments in Florence over the ten years we have been spending our autumns there, and none -- none! -- is more comfortable than this. It is centrally located about five minutes away from the San ambrogio market, seven or eight minutes from Santa Croce, ten minutes from il Duomo; the no. 6 bus is just a block away. The apartment is impeccably clean and well-equipped; it's stylish and warm -- the morning sun pours in the large front window. But what is most important is that when you arrive there, you really do feel that you are at home,it's so quiet and peaceful. Mrs. Morace has made available to you absolutely everything you will need for your comfort, even down to wifi, a radio/stereo, and electrical appliances. My wife and I could not wish for anything more. Mrs. Morace quickly takes care of any problems we might have, responds to any requests, and works with us on any particular needs. Always charming and gracious, we think of her as a friend -- she has treated us extraordinarily well over the years -- it's almost incidental that she is, in fact, our landlady. We would recommend Borgo Pinti to anyone who wants to live comfortably and well.

Everything you need for a dream vacation!

Left on 10/21/2012 for a stay in September 2012

A friend and I stayed for three weeks in this wonderful apartment. It is on the top floor, and there is no elevator, and there are 58 stairs to climb, but the apartment is worth it, and by the end of our trip we were practically taking them two at a time! It is centrally located, (three blocks from the Duomo), for all the sights in Florence and we walked everywhere during our stay. The area is very safe and as two single women we were comfortable walking everywhere both during the day and at night. The apartment is very comfortable and Claudia has provided everything needed to make it homey. We loved coming home each night to sit in the living room to read and look over our pictures from the day's adventures. We ate breakfast and a few dinners at home and the kitchen was efficient and well equipped. It was fun to shop at the outdoor market that was near the apartment and bring home our treasures of fresh basil, fabulous meats and cheeses, and fresh fruit and have a kitchen to fix meals in. We loved having two bedrooms and bathrooms so we could have some alone time at night and get ready quickly in the mornings, but it would have been comfortable for two couples as well. The food in Florence is amazing and the restaurants near the apartment were wonderful. One of the best was right across the street. Claudia provides a list of restaurants so you don't miss anything. In fact, Claudia is available by phone or email to help you with anything you need during your stay. The phone (once we learned how to use it) was very convenient, as well as the wifi. There is a washing machine and drying rack so you can pack light. The apartment really helped make our vacation a dream come true! When we come back to Florence we will be staying here again.

      Very comfortable and user-friendly accomodations

Left on 06/28/2012 for a stay in June 2012

Claudia is a gem of a person and the place reflects her personality. She stopped by for a brief visit so we had the opportunity to tell her personally how much we enjoyed her thoughtfulness. It's a very comfortable and relatively spacious place, well furnished, and within easy walking distance of all of the major tourist attractions. Claudia had supplied everything we needed to get started, including bottled water, coca-cola,and apricot juice in the refrigerator. There was a large platter of fresh apricots and a bottle of olive oil made from her own olive grove waiting for us and all the amenities such as napkins, dishwashing soap, laundry soap, cloth towels, paper towels, etc. There's an excellent neighborhood restaurant immediately across the street and a small neighborhood grocery store next door. Martina, the cleaning lady, and her daughter Ketty were very warm, welcoming, and friendly as we entered (Ketty speaks English). They gave us their phone numbers and encouraged us to call with any questions or need for assistance -- which we did on two occasions. Claudia also provided her tel no. and encouraged us to call at any time. She left a cell phone for our use as well. We felt as if we were being taken care of by thoughtful relatives in their home. ("We", includes an 86 year old man, his 6o year old daughter and his 15 year old great granddaughter -- a wide range of ages to have to please.) There are steps to climb to get to the apartment but all of us found them easy to use. It was one of the most comfortable stays we've had in our many years of traveling. Thank you Claudia.

The perfect place to stay in Florence!

Left on 06/26/2012 for a stay in April 2012

Everything about this lovely apartment is wonderful! It is perfectly located within easy walking distance of all that Florence has to offer. The apartment was the perfect size for two couples and charming and authentic in its decor. Claudia welcomed us with olive oil from her personal olive orchard and charmed us with information on her favorite local spots which quickly became ours as well. Don't miss the restaurant across the street and we high recommend their wild boar sauce (cinghiale ragu)or the bakery down the street that has delicious biscotti that we dipped in coffee in the morning and in rich port at night. Claudia's apartment greatly added to our Italian holiday and we hope to return often.

      Great apartment centrally located

Left on 06/26/2012 for a stay in May 2012

This was a wonderful apartment located near almost everything. Many restaurants in the area. My only complaint is the stairs. This trip was an 80th birthday present for my mother and it wasn't clear that there before arriving would be 8 sets of stairs for her to climb twice a day. Otherwise, everything was excellent.

      Fabulous apartment close to everything

Left on 12/08/2011 for a stay in November 2011

Our family of 5 stayed in this apartment for a short 3 days in Florence while visiting our college age daughter. It was exactly as stated on the website-clean, comfortable, spacious, safe, and within walking distance to all the sites of Florence. Martina and Keity met us there and graciously showed us all we needed to know about the apartment. Fruits, beverages, and Claudia's delicious freshly pressed olive oil are an example of the special touches that make this apartment feel like a home. Following a week of hotel stays in other areas of Italy having a well appointed kitchen where we could have breakfast and cook an "Italian Thanksgiving" was a bonus. Claudia was so accommodating and available to us by phone 24/7. In fact, Claudia quickly responded when our son accidentally broke something and was only concerned about whether he was injured, not about the damage to the apartment...a true testament to the type of landlord she is. We highly recommend this apartment and hope to return in the future for a longer stay.

A Little Piece of Heaven in Florence

Left on 11/21/2011 for a stay in November 2011

I had the pleasure of staying in Claudia's larger apartment, Pinti 2, earlier this month. We were five women traveling to Florence to visit our college age students studying there. The accommodations were just as described. The apartment was in excellent condition. We were greeted upon arrival, goodies in the fridge, coffee ready for morning, and a bowl of fresh apples on the table. It was such a pleasant introduction to our home away from home! The location of the apartment was important as we wanted to be centrally located. In fact we were blocks from the Duomo, and within walking distance of any of the important sites around the city including the train station. The neighborhood is terrific as well...there was a great market nearby we frequented for fresh fruit, veggies and pasta for our homemade suppers; a coffee shop right across the street, and a fabulous spot to grab sandwiches and gelato too. I have total confidence in recommending this location to anyone planning on visiting Florence; Claudia is a delight and her property is really top notch!

      Excellent apartment; wonderful owner

Left on 10/24/2011 for a stay in September 2011

My wife and I and my cousin and his wife were guests in Borgo Pinti 2 for five nights at the end of September, 2011. The apartment is spacious, bright, airy, clean, well appointed, and quiet. The apartment opens onto an inner courtyard that provides ample light with no noise. We had more than enough room for the 4 of us and really enjoyed the fully equipped kitchen. As a matter of fact, we decided to eat in one evening and had a fun time preparing dinner in our own "cucina”. Both the clothes washer and dishwasher worked just fine. The welcome basket of fruit, olive oil, etc. added a very personal touch. The apartment is located in the historic center - just a short walk to all the churches, museums, etc. that we wanted to see. There are several nice restaurants within a 5 minute walk. There is also a grocery store and many small shops selling bread, pastries, cheese, ham, etc. nearby. In short, the apartment is excellent and I highly recommend it. Claudia is articulate, helpful and a real delight. She takes a great deal of pride in her apartments and works hard to insure that her guests have a marvelous stay. You couldn't ask for a better owner.

      Home away From Home

Left on 10/18/2011 for a stay in September 2011

We recently stayed for more than a week at Pinti 2 in Firenze and I cannot say enough about Claudia and her invaluable assistance. The apartment is very clean and organized yet homey and comfortable and truly reflects how much care and consideration Claudia puts forth. She's thought of everything! From the lovely basket of fresh fruit and homemade olive oil to the bottled water, juice and coffee to get us started. We so appreciated having the washing machine (push the off/on button before trying to open the door) and iron (you'll need the reducer that is probably on the toaster to plug it in). Claudia answered so many of our general travel questions and even arrange a wine tasting tour for us before we ever arrived at her apartment. She and Martina were only ever a phone call or email away - even when we locked ourselves out of the apartment!! We loved the shutters and window screens - never needed the aC. From the start I felt as if I already knew and her. It was a true pleasure to meet her in person. The neighborhood is quiet and very close to most points of interest. Accadi Trattoria across the street is wonderful and friendly. There is a market nearby that was very helpful as well as a few fruit and vegetable stands that we shopped every couple of days. I highly recommend Claudia's apartments. We cannot thank you enough, Claudia for a wonderful experience! Thank you too for a lovely evening in Panzano.

Outstanding apartment and Most Gracious Hostess

Left on 06/09/2011 for a stay in May 2011

We first had contact with Claudia Morace when, having seen her listing for Pinti 1, we e-mailed her about availability. We knew it was close to everything we wanted to see, as well as food markets and restaurants. Because of my husband's food allergies, we cooked many of our meals in the apartment, avoiding dairy and wheat (which are mainstays in Italian cuisine.) Claudia told us Pinti 1 was already rented but she had another apartment, Pinti 2, on the same floor and across from Pinti 1.
After an exhausting trip, we arrived at Pinti 2, an immaculate, quiet home away from home. With a quick phone call, which we made from a shop across the street from the apartment, Martina was there to meet us. Crisp cool sheets, extremely comfortable beds, spacious rooms and everything you could possibly need for a wonderful stay, awaited our arrival. We spent 11 great days in this wonderful city and 11 peaceful, comfortable nights in Pinti 2.
We were able to see Pinti 1 while we were there and it is as bright and clean and beautiful as Pinti 2.
Claudia's skills as a hostess are impeccable and she clearly loves what she does. She has elevated 'meeting people and making them feel welcome' to an art form. If you meet Claudia, you will love her, and you will love her apartments.

From to the day we arrived at Borgo Pinti to the day we left, Claudia and her staff could not have been more helpful. Claudia herself is such a genuinely warm and friendly person and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting and spending some time with she and her partner arnaldo on a couple of occasions. We actally stayed at Borgo Pinti from September 28th to November 3rd 2010 and it became our home away from home. If we ever return to Florence we would not think of staying any place else and would not hesitate to recommend Borgo Pinti to friends and family.

One should be aware that Claudia's apartments are on the top floor of the building, a climb of 58 steps.
