Additional Location Information
Outside:
There is a garage located just 30 metres from the property, ideal for those wanting to hire a car during their stay.
All the monuments are just within few minutes walking away. At few metres from the flat you have refine shops, grocery, bakery, the picturesque Mercato of San Lorenzo...theatre, traditional florentine restaurants, fashion bars, cafes etc…
Travel:
The nearest airport is Amerigo Vespucci (Peretola) Airport in Florence about 25 minutes taxi ride. However, flights often tend to be cheaper to Pisa which is only an hour away by car. A cheap bus service (10 euros one way) connects Pisa airport to the heart of the city of Florence where it stops at the centrally located Santa Maria Novella train station. It's then 5 minute walk to the property. Car hire is not needed but there is a public garage 30 metres from the property if you do need somewhere to park a car.
Moreover, Lucca, Pisa, Arezzo, Siena, Bologna and beaches are all within an hours' train or bus journey from Florence, and train and bus stations are with 5 minute walk from the property.
Historical notes:
The name Madonna (mia domina, meaning my lady) doesn't refer to the Mother of Jesus but to another lady, the wife of Messer (mio signore) Rinaldo degli Aldobrandini, and the full name of the piazza is Piazza Madonna degli Aldobrandini. Her first name was Giovanna (or Bugiazza). She was an Altoviti before entering the Aldobrandini family by marriage. She was rich, generous, intelligent, polite, good and particularly dedicated to charitable works. Giovanna was the signora (Madonna) per antonomasia of fourteenth century Florence. She died in 1395 after having lived over 90 years (a very old age in the era) leaving her fame to carry on her name.
The Aldobrandini are an Italian noble family from Florence, with close ties to the Vatican. Its Roman fortunes were made when Ippolito Aldobrandini became pope under the name Pope Clement VIII. He arranged the marriage that linked the Aldobrandini with the Roman family of Pamphili. Additionally, they were also linked to marriage alliances with the Farnese (Ranuccio I, duke of Parma, had married Margherita Aldobrandini) and Borghese (since Olimpia Aldobrandini married Paolo Borghese).
The Garvagh Madonna painted by Raphael about 1509-10, is the portray of Madonna degli Aldobrandini. In this work, the artist depicts the moment when the Christ child picks the carnation from John the Baptist's hand. The space between their hands is the centre of the careful geometry of the composition. The painting was in the possession of the Aldobrandini family, then in the 19th century it was in England, in the collection of Lord Garvagh. The background of the painting probably shows a landscape near to Rome.

I miss my "home". That's the way it felt--like home. I recently stayed at Blue-Sky for a month. Mari was the consummate hostess and catered to every need with kindness and a professionalism rarely seen these days. The location couldn't be more central. I loved every second of my visit--even when it was raining. The only cons I would mention are street noise nightly until about 1am and lots of stairs to climb, but the pros far outweigh any cons. Everything was as described. The apartment is modern and is spotlessly clean. It has the basic supplies including hairdryer, washer/dryer, iron and ironing board, dishwasher, tv, linens and towels, kitchen dishes and utensils. Mari even bought a new couch as she knew my daughter would be sleeping there for 2 weeks and she wanted to make sure she was comfortable. She answers emails promptly and goes out of her way to make sure you are enjoying your stay--she really cares! Grazie mille Mari, I cannot wait to return some day! Dreams really can come true! My husband and I spent 4 days of our honeymoon here during time in Italy. Mariangela is, as her name implies, an angel. We had a great stay and wished it could have been a few days longer.
We were hesitant upon arrival. I have learned the hard way that staying on a square is playing with fire trying to get a good night's sleep. My spouse and I are happy to report a good night's sleep every night. I am the light sleeper between us and i slept through the night. (except for the night my husband was a snoreasaurus, and I slept in the living room on the couch) Yes, the bar downstairs does have a rambunctious happy hour which lasts into the night; but we found that by 11 they had quoted down. And with the windows closed you could barely hear any outside noise. But heck, you are on vacation, right? Live a little and join the people downstairs for a night cap.
The apartment is exactly a 10 minute walk from the train station.
Mariangela was the most consummate hostess. The biscotti welcome treat was delicious and served to be my late night snack many a night. What is equally great are the little reviews and recommendations left by prior guests. They were a fun read and were very insightful for our visit. (you will have to stay there to read mine)
Now onto the property itself. It was by far the best rental we have ever visited. The bed was comfortable, as was the couch the one night I had to escape from my sweathearts snoring. The towels are great as was the entire bathroom. The kitchen was perfectly stocked an had all the necessary tools for preparing meals. We ate in or packed a lunch quite a bit and I can say I used every utinsel in that kitchen. The property is bright and airy and is a great base for you to see Florence.
We will definitely stay there again when we return to Florence.Response from Mariangela Minervini - 11/25/2012

Very good service, better than in hotels. You can find everything you need and even more. Comfortable kitchen, two rooms, make stay easy with two kids. The location is fabulous, everything is so close. Personally enjoyed shopping. :)
Mariangela is very polite and kind person. Feel like I found a sister, who takes care of us. We had a cot, baby blankets, food.
Thank you again, Mariangela! Hope to come back again in future. I will definetely recommend to my friends to stay here.

The pictures don't do it enough justice. The apartment is fresh, clean, we'll-appointed and in an excellent location. My wife and I arrived in Florence by train with our luggage. The walk from the station to the apartment was easy and painless. The location was ideal for our four day tour of the city. The host was so generous and helpful. In short, we would highly recommend this space. You won't be disappointed.

Left on 08/17/2012 for a stay in July 2012
This is an excellent apartment. It is right in the heart of Florence, within ten minutes from the station and about five from the Duomo. Round the corner is a food market and numerous restaurants/cafes. The apartment was spotlessly clean and was fully equipped even with a washer-drier. Mariangela was very prompt with her email replies which were in very good English and had lots of very useful information.
The newly installed air-con was very welcome after the 40+ temperature outside and the shutters kept out nearly all the noise (I don't think you will ever keep out the sound of sirens though).
I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others.Response from Mariangela Minervini - 08/18/2012

Left on 07/03/2012 for a stay in June 2012
Location simply can't be better: central 2 blocks from the main train station (less than 5m walk), in front of Medici Chapel and 1 block from Duomo. Very well served in commercial terms. Recently renewed flat, with new appliances, very good taste finishes, and recommended. When I was there, unfortunately temperatures never went below 30 Celsius, and the owner didn't have yet authorization for air conditioned, which was granted by that time, so the only draw down was the extreme hot weather we got, and it was not easy to cool down, but by no means was unbearable and fans helped. With air conditioned, I simply wouldn't have nothing to point. Flat is perfect for a family of 4, as it was my case. Owner is very atentious.

My husband and I stayed at Blue-Sky Suite for 7 nights in June, 2012. We loved the apartment and the location. Mariengela was very welcoming, and the welcome pack with biscotti, milk, coffee etc was appreciated. The apartment is beautifully furnished and comfortable. The location is perfect for walking to all of the major attractions, the food markets, restaurants and train station. Clothing and leather markets are down the road. Great cafes and bars on the doorstep, and supermarkets close by. highly recommended.

We loved our stay in Mariangela's lovely blue-sky suite. It is perfectly located, close to the markets and within easy walking distance to the main attractions of Florence. The suite is very well equipped, tastefully decorated with a homely feel. It is obvious that Mariangela genuinely wants her guests to enjoy their stay in Florence. She welcomed us on arrival and she provided all the infomation we needed to make the most of our stay in Florence. It was my daughter's 13th birthday during our stay and Mariangela made her feel so special by remembering her. A lovely host in a beautiful city!

Ottawa, CanadaGreat spot. 100% Satisfied. Would stay again.
Left on 03/25/2012 for a stay in March 2012
Highly recommended. Stayed 3 weeks in March. Mariangela is the owner and handles the rentals herself, and has thought of everything you could need, from the wi-fi to the kitchen utensils to a pair of umbrellas by the door - just in case, god forbid, you don't have a sunny Tuscan day to enjoy. The suite is spacious, clean and modern, but best of all you step out right into the splendour of old Florence. Can't get much more convenient without sleeping in the Duomo itself. There is a supermarket within 5 minutes on foot and a couple of mini-marts even closer. The cafe on the ground floor is a great place for a glass of chianti or panino if you don't feel like venturing very far. I give Mariangela 10/10 for communication before and during my stay; she was very helpful with recommendations. Do not hesitate to book this spot.
