Description from owner

Description

In an enviable position on the peaceful village square by the beautiful old church. Parquet floors, old fireplaces, winding staircases, shuttered windows, all the character you would expect from an ancient, rambling French country home.

Super comfy beds, antique furnishings, private bathroom facilities, hairdryer, bath products, magazines in all rooms. Prices are for 2 people in a double or twin room. Breakfast (7 euros) is served on the private roof terrace to the sound of cowbells or in the square by the church - home made bread and jams, croissants, yogurt, honey from the mountains.

An easy drive from Carcassonne airport, about 50 mins, and Toulouse, about an hour and a quarter. Perpignan, Beziers, Montpelier and Barcelona just a bit further. Close to beautiful medieval Mirepoix which has the best farmers and crafts market in the region, Monday mornings.

A great base for walking and cycling, the "wild" swimming is a treat in the emerald green waters of Lac Montbel and Lake Puivert in the shadow of the mighty Cathar castle. Explore vineyards, prehistoric caves, the kids will love learning how to make fire at the Prehistoric park.

Dinner is served every evening on the candlelit terrace, in the square, or in cooler months, within the old stone walls of the barn converted to the dining room. The emphasis is on fresh and local, much of the produce Nick grows organically on his potager. Special diets accommodated including gluten and dairy free, vegan and vegetarian.

We offer cyclist and family friendly accommodation, cot and baby equipment available on request, no charge for under 2s. Free high speed WiFi & lots of free parking.

THE BARN ROOM

Spacious double room with en-suite shower room at the back of the house. Sleigh bed, CD player, a lovely mix of old furnishings and contemporary art. A door leads to a tiny balcony overlooking the terrace and old church yard, across to the fields and hills.

CHAMBRE 1

Wool rugs on parquet floors, antique French bed and crisp white linens ~ a spacious double room with views of the square and church. Lovely private bathroom (down 3 steps) with claw foot tub, rain shower & dual sinks, "..the bathroom was bigger than our apartment in Rome". This room has an adjoining twin room ideal for families and friends.

CHAMBRE 2

Old fireplace, chateauesque mirror, antique French armoire ~ twin room with views of the square and church. Lovely private bathroom (down 3 steps) with claw foot tub, rain shower & dual sinks.
