“Not just better than I expected, it was better than I hoped!”
10 bedrooms, and loads of space. Very cleverly designed. no cheap Ikea stuff here: the owners want you to be comfortable. Do not be put off when you try to find this on StreetView: yes, it really is down a side alley in the middle of a tiny village......I still can't work out how it is not overlooked and yet it isn't. It's a 30-metre walk down to the pool but nobody can see you and it is all part of the property, and once you're there, the views are amazing - and there is a covered area in which you can seat 16 people easily.....along with sink and huge fridge (kept constantly stocked with beers whilst we were there!). evening lighting means BBQs were popular followed by swims in the moonlight. The property has four fridges, ice maker, huge Smeg cooker and every cooking implement you'd want. (my first of two small criticisms would be: as bookings only start at 1600 on Saturdays, seeing as you don't provide simple things like salt, pepper, sugar, coffee filter papers - tell tenants to bring these with them!). There is so much space that, as three families we found it easy to find our own space - and could just come together for meals if we wanted....where we were spoilt for choice: the huge dining table indoors; the equally huge table on the verandah, or the tables near the pool. However, the number of loungers and the size of the pool also meant that we had plenty of space. The nearby Auberge was a lovely typical small French country restaurant/cafe (where you felt that you were eating in the front room) and the owners really friendly: they were happy to bring bread up to the villa each morning as long as you had ordered it the previous day. My only other criticism would be: the wifi kept on having to be reset, and internet access was intermittent. With four teenagers in our party this could have been a major issue, but with the great surroundings, weather and pool, it was much less of a hassle..... could be more of one when the weather isn't so great, though. And then, of course, nearby you have Carcassonne and Narbonne: both lovely places to visit. And a little further on Arles, Perpignan and Marseilles. I cannot recommend this place highly enough: the owners have put so much thought into its renovation/conversion. This is an ideal place for 2/3 families to visit, relax and enjoy.
